Finding Excalibur Empty Finding Excalibur

Post by Guest December 11th 2010, 5:32 pm

Excalibur, legendary sword of King Arthur. Suspected of being incredibly powerful, making the wielder incredibly difficult to beat.

But simply a legend.
As Lex Luthor would say, WRONG!

Nightkill had used his incredibly through sources and discovered where Excalibur may be. He had finally hit a source on the Internet using one of his contacts. The Himalayan mountains.

"Hello, Mr. Khan." a driver greeted him in bad English as he walked out of the airport. Nightkill looked Indian in his human form, so he fit right now. "You would like to go to the Himalayas?" he asked, thinking him to be a tourist.

"Yes, thank you." Nightkill replied in fluent Hindi. The driver looked relieved he wouldn't have to speak English. As they neared the mountains, Nightkill felt Clarent almost growl. Julia was with him, and she sat down in the cab silently.

What is it? he asked.
Excalibur... It's close.... the sword replied, overjoyed at the thought of being reunited with Excalibur. Nightkill was relieved, his last few searches had failed. He would finally get the second sword.

He went with another party which was already climbing the Himalayas. They had quite a bit of food, water and other supplies. Nightkill didn't dare use his super speed to climb up the mountain. He was powerful, but he couldn't stop ten thousand tons of falling snow and ice.

They began trudging up the mountain, the party just climbing, while Nightkill was listening to Clarent, trying to see where the other sword might be. He couldn't rely on his own sight as much, and he was tiring more easily. Goddamned sniper with his goddamned poisoned bullet.

"You OK, sir?" Julia asked, as they stopped for a rest. Nightkill took a swig of water.

"Yes, just tired." he replied, Clarent still growling mentally.

(I have a few questions.....Firstly why is a thread in the Himalayas taking place in an American Section? There are European sections. Secondly I noticed that you are sprinting up mountains even though you were recently nearly blown in half, by a bullet that has noted special side effects that are specifically made to complicate your healing process. Unless I missed something you never bothered going through any sort of healing process at all. Did you just skip over it? That's not going to do much to convince me that you take my RPing seriously....)

(We have no Asia section, do we? Second, this thread takes place some time after Beijing, so I'm just gonna say that I had surgery, and was fixed, but that the side effects are still there, I told you I grow old at an accelerated rate now. Anything else?)

(It's just with no mention of that fact in your initial text I had no way of knowing that you were effected at all, neither would anyone else for that matter.

I still think there are better places to hold this adventure....America is just a confusing section to hold it. Have you thought about Northern Italy, Huge mountains there and with Rome and the holy Roman church being close it would seem more likely that it would be there. but i don't know what plans you have for the story, so I am just making suggestions. Also, it would appear that you are allone, would Nightkill really take that chance after a near fatal assassination attempt? You're kind of making it easy for Woodsman to take you out.)

(We had Beijing Deal here, so I figured an India thread would be held here until further notice.

And your second reason is precisely why I created Julia, but this thread was created before I made that character. I suppose I'll edit the OP a bit.

I picked the Himalayas because it's cool, and because it's a mysterious magical place and all that jazz.)

Finding Excalibur Empty Re: Finding Excalibur

Post by Coffinhunter December 13th 2010, 2:33 pm

(well as I said...It is the skimming my posts that angers me more than anything...So if you can remedy that, I think giving you another chance may be in order.)

The Woodsman laid perfectly still, he was dressed in all white and his specialized rifle also wore the arctic camouflage. He'd positioned himself much closer than his last attempt and was up on a ridge. His advanced battle gear already equipped he was ready this time. The closed circuit com system in his helmet put him in touch with Mr. Specture and allowed for communication without having to worry about being heard or picked up by and external scanners. Mr. Specture manned the Jump ship that hovered near the edge of the atmosphere, well out of range and fully cloaked.

"Boss....I have acquired the target. I think he may have some one with him though, I can't get any feed back , but she appears to be female. This ain't good, we don't have any intel on who ever that is, probably anther Meta-Human, specifically purposed as a body guard against any other attempts on his life, we should pull out until I can get a decent work up on the unknown." Mr. Specture said as he watched the monitor in the dash board.

"Relax Specture, Nightkill thinks I am dead, all the news reports from China said the Assassin was killed in that Helio crash, He has absolutely no reason to believe that I survived (unless metagaming). Besides I'm not going to pull out after we put so much time and effort, not to mention all the strings I had to pull to put this plan into action. I want my target nuetralized and I won't settle for anything less. The radioactive icotope that the first shot I put through him has tracked him thus far, but it's almost negated, we need to move now!" The Woodsman whispered in a hushed tone, not that he needed to, but it was just instinctual habit after living to all the years without such advance technology.

"I get you sir....Nobody knows more, how much effort was involved than me. I friggin' did all the foot work. The decoy sword was made to my specs and finding the right frequency to call out to his sword, Clarent was no easy task either. It's an ancient friggin' artifact for god's sake. But the Decoy is perfect, It looks, smells, feels and essentially is ; for all intents and purposes the real thing." Mr. Spectrure said, more tooting his own horn about the monumental achievement than reiterating for his employers sake.

"Yeah, Yeah....No need to break your own arm, patting yourself on the back there Specture I said you did a good job. Hell, I still have no clue as to how you even found out that that was what he was after in the first place." Woodsman replied, ever motionless.

"I hacked his network, which was no easy task in it's own. That f*cker is locked down tighter than a gnat's ass. But have no fear, They don't call me the Superhacker for nothing. I even covered our back door. If he goes looking, the trail leads back to some stupid kid in Chicago that has a minor record for hacking is high school data base. I do feel a little bad about that though." Specture smiled to himself.

"Good good..... The plan is coming together perfectly, Say....where is the real sword anyway? And if it's not here, then why the hell did you pick the Himalayas? My old ass is freezing up here, You couldn't of picked some place warm?" Woodsman said as a shiver ran up his spine.

" The real sword is hidden in some ancient monastery in Scotland, Protected by an Order of Templar Knights. If you think Superhumans are tough you should see these guys. As for the Himalayas, well I just thought it's cool, and because it's a mysterious magical place and all that jazz. You shouldn't be cold though, that battle armor is completely climate controlled.....Shit boss you really are getting old." Specture laughed.

"Yeah....real funny buddy, just wait till I get back aboard and say that to my face....Alright...the target is ascending the mountain. Let's use radio silence from here on in just in case. Hey, by the way....You rigged the decoy Sword's mount with the good stuff right?" Woodsman asked hesitantly.

"You bet ya....enough C4 and Thermite in that puppy to take the top of that friggin' mountain off. The second he puts his greasy alien mitts on that sword, The shit is going to hit the fan. And if he somehow survives it, he should; to say the least; be significantly weaken enough for you to empty that entire clip of Specialized ammunition into him. I had the lab boys amp the dosage 3x the last rounds amount, so you should have no problems this time. Plus I am standing by in the Jump ship with a full pay load of Hellfire missiles at your disposal, you just say the word and I come in and rain death from above. " Specture said, flipping a switch to go 'weapons ready'.

"Good boy, Specture. you'll get a raise if it goes off with out a hitch! Alright...Com-link off!" Woodsman said as his itchy trigger finger brushed the trigger guard of his rifle.

Finding Excalibur Empty Re: Finding Excalibur

Post by Guest December 14th 2010, 12:27 am

I lol'd.)

Julia suddenly paused, and Nightkill almost crashed into her, which could have been fatal at these heights. "Dear God, what is it?" he snapped.

"I don't know." she replied. "I just sense danger."

"Julia, relax." he said, as they began climbing again. "Few things in this world can face me, and that hit-man who was after me in China is dead now." Personally, he figured that was a bit suspicious, considering the fact he had evidence that the hit-man, whoever he was, was very smart and very good at his job. A person like that wouldn't have died that easily.

But maybe he just got unbelievably unlucky. That happened to everyone, even him. But even so, Nightkill was fully confident that nobody, save for a few people he trusted, knew he was here. Besides, his network was uncrackable, or very close to it.

He coughed up some blood. "You feeling good?" a man asked in Hindi.

Nightkill nodded. "I'm perfectly fine, thank you very much." he said, as they resumed climbing. Clarent growled, sensing it's twin close. The sword wanted to be reunited.

Julia frowned, climbing. She glanced around, using her super vision. Nothing. She thought she saw something move just a bit on a ridge, but it was too far away to be sure. If it was normal weather, and not this bloody snow, she could easily tell what was there, but due to the snow, it was ambiguous. What got her attention was that it was utterly immobile, but then, just as she was looking, just the tiniest movement (him brushing his trigger finger) was seen.

"Sir, you sure about this?" she asked, getting a bad feeling. "Julia, re-bloody-lax." came the confident response. "There is absolutely nothing to worry about." he said. They were both careful to whisper for two reasons- One, so the others wouldn't hear, and Two, so that they didn't set off an avalanche.

"Stupid old fool!" Woodsman cursed himself. The female had seen a finger movement, what ever she was, it was superpowered. He pulled up the application for his holographic gillie suit on the heads up display inside his helmet (no movement made...think the inside of ironman's helmet). The cloaking device slowly faded over him with out so much as a shimmer, it was flawless and worth every penny he'd paid for it. He then accessed the library of diversionary holograms and found a mountain goat that could theoretically be at these elevations. The image appeared 5 yards ahead of him. That would put that paranoid bitch's mind at ease.

With that the Woodsman settled in, he texted a message to Mr. Specture; 'make sure you are ready with those Helfire missiles, that is a superbitch'

The Woodsman smile at the thought of the message that would appear when his target touched the decoy sword; 'Nobodies scared of the big bad wolf' his own little calling card. And then....boom.....C4 and Thermite (you should google this if you don't know what it does in a weapon application.) were a nasty combination.

(Used this vid- http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7231843493488769585#)

(Also, a question before I can post- Is the sword literally filled with Thermite and C4, or is there a trigger that when the sword is touched, it activates the explosives from somewhere else?)

(the latter...The Sword itself is just a well crafted decoy, that is honed in, to make Clarent think it's excalibur)

Finding Excalibur Empty Re: Finding Excalibur

Post by Guest December 18th 2010, 2:28 pm

Nightkill proceeded to climb up the mountain, occasionally pausing to cough his ass off. Old age was not good for him so far. Just the other day he'd found his first gray hair. At this rate, he'd be seventy by end of next year. At least the assassin was dead. Nightkill wondered who he'd been working for.

His sword was vibrating, sensing that it was now close. It was hungry to reunite with Excalibur. After around half an hour, they reached the cave where the sword was. "Let's rest here." he suggested, the party nodding, and settling down here for the moment. They were sure to be extremely quiet, so they didn't set off an avalanche.

Nightkill began walking to where the sword was, with Julia guarding him. Finally, his goal was so close....

Finding Excalibur Empty Re: Finding Excalibur

Post by Guest December 22nd 2010, 10:02 pm

Nightkill continued walking up the mountain. "Let's rest here." he called to his crew, after they reached the cave where Clarent sensed it's twin. Now, a nearly sexual hunger gripped them both at the thought of being reunited with the sword, Nightkill and Clarent both operating on exactly the same mental wavelength right now. They needed Excalibur.

Nightkill walked deeper into the cave, after telling the party he was "just exploring." Something about his voice told them not to argue. Julia came with him, watching his back.

After trudging deep inside the cave, he saw it. It looked exactly like Clarent, down to the last detail. Heart pounding, Nightkill walked over to it in awe. He placed Clarent on top of Excalibur, largely because the sword begged to be reunited.

A pause.

This isn't Excalibur.

Nightkill barely had time to say "The hell?" before a massive C4 explosion occurred. Grabbing Julia, transforming into his Doomsday form, and using his tentacles to completely cover her, both of them curled up in a ball just before the boom, they both survived. Nightkill was forced to preform this task in under three seconds, which already tired his aging body. But then they were buried utterly under the rocks, with the Thermite creeping toward them.

Doomsday glanced at Julia, who was seriously bruised and injured. He glanced up. The rocks were still quite a bit above them, being held up by the derbis. If Nightkill moved that aside to get out, there was a chance he could get the hell out before the rocks came crashing down on him, but Julia was dead either way.

Only one way to live. "I'm sorry." he whispered, changing his head back to Nightkill, and jabbing his tentacles into her body, absorbing her life force and soul. He heard crackling noises as his body repaired itself a little, and groaned in relief. Julia's breathing slowly stopped, her soul now inside him.

He kissed the dead body of his assistant, and saw the Thermite coming even closer. Changing completely to Doomsday, he punched the side of the mountain, literally jumping out before it all crashed down on him. The ground was racing up to meet him, and he prepared for impact.

this stuff happens....you want to add to it, feel free, but no MetaGaming!.....My guy is an assassin, he doesn't play for any less than keeps. The funny thing is that you invited to play against him...you know the old saying, "You made your own bed, now sleep in it".....I think it applies here.
