The Cult of Atomos

"You know where I'll be." Eclipse sat down on a cot next to the wall and waited for him to return.

Ramuh and Ifrit roamed the halls checking in on the cultist and their development. The cultist retired to their chambers; it seemed as though the drug took a toll on them. Their sleep seemed violent and distorted. They would closely monitor these results in the near future, because they knew the chances of surviving the inoculation were low. Ramuh and Ifrit survived their recruitment of fifteen, so they hoped that at least four or five would survive to join their ranks.

Nightkill came out of the city, grinning. "After some torture, she gave some information. I'll need more though, and I need one of the computers. She has agreed to help me make the formula." he said, beaming.

"Take her to the computer; let her get us in the mainframes. Then you can dispose of her. I'll take care of the development of the new members." Ramuh walked back to the barrack. Several of the members shook in violent convulsions. Two of the members appeared to have died at some point in the last twenty minutes or so. The drug kept the cultist incapacitated for a while, so he quickly removed the bodies of those that died so the waking cultist would not be alarmed.

Nightkill nodded. He looked around at the members who were dying. He could probably save them... Some minions would be rather nice....

A grin appeared on his face. That was a nice idea.

First things first. He walked back into the underground city, and opened the cell. He slung Bliss over his shoulder again. "Come on." he muttered, walking back up.

Eclipse laid back and waited for him to take her to the computer systems. "So, after the computers are hacked into, I can go right?"

Nightkill snorted. "They expect me to kill you the moment the computers are freed. If I don't, they most certainly will. I'll pretend I need some of your knowledge to let you live longer. I can accomplish my goals by myself, but I don't forget my debts. I promised you would live, and you will."

"What exactly do you think you can learn from these guys? They don't even understand what they're injecting into themselves, or how dangerous it can be. You can read the lab results of the trial experiments for yourself when we get to the computer."

Nightkill paused. "Humans are like that. Incredibly stupid. I have made it my life's goal to learn everything. It is my mission. What they have here, it's the start of something. Using it, I can continue my experiments, and learn more. The additional bonus of ruling the world would be nice. I can end wars, hunger and all sorts of things. This will go a long way, even if the humans are too moronic to understand. No offense."

"Some people are just that eager to be something else. You have very odd ways to do things that seem altruistic. Those cult members will probably rid the world of themselves all by themselves. Nature has fail-safes that act like that. Anyways we're here now."

Nightkill nodded. They were at the computers. "Alright, override the firewall." he said.

(I just realized my guy is a living machine and hacker, so he probably could it himself. But, I'll just say he forgot).

Eclipse went to work on the mainframe. They still worked, but hadn't seen work in years. That made the situation better for her she guessed. That meant her father never went through the trouble of wiping these hard drives. She overrode the firewall and made her way into the trial experiments. She stepped back to let him get a look.

The experiments listed show that most of the subjects experienced severe overloads that collapsed the synaptic clefts in the occipital and temporal lobes causing severe brain damage. In most cases the subject would die hours later of a severe seizure. The strand contained in this plant is very unstable. The subjects should be monitored closely to monitor where the drug is making mutations to the brain.

Nightkill grinned, and wires shot out of his hands, copying all of the info and placing it inside his brain.

"Great!" he said. "Now to make the formula itself." he frowned. "That'll take some time." he said. "A few days."

Eclipse put her hands in her hoodie pockets. "So what happens now? Am I going back to the underground?"

Nightkill shrugged. "If you wish. I suggest you do go at the moment, and 'escape' later." he said.

Eclipse made her way out and turned around to wave a fair well salutation "Thanks, I hope you get what you're wanting out of those guys."

The amount of deaths were exacerbating. Something was wrong, terribly wrong. All but six cultist died. Out of those six five wouldn't make it, but there was one who remained strong and seemed unphased by the drug. He sat up in bed and walked out of the room as the others convulsed.

Nightkill began making the formula. He frowned. Someone was walking around. He stopped his formula making for a moment to walk out and see.
