New Arrivals with Questions

Haldo! My friend Kevin and I came across this site during a random search for a good, established, forum-based, superhero RPG. We've both been involved in multiple failed projects not unlike this one, so happening upon one that is at least two years old is quite exciting. We have familiarized ourselves with the rules and character creation. Nevertheless, I have some questions and Kevin may as well.

1) How are we to get started here? Clearly, we should create characters according to the template, submit them for application, and revise as necessary until these characters are accepted, but what is the next step beyond that?

2) I see areas for item and pet applications. Is this for acquiring something outside of character creation? Must these be purchased using Experience?

3) In the stat shop, it says that each area of the power grid may be boosted once. Is this per visit to the shop or in general? Additionally, how does one go about obtaining additional powers? Can one do that under the current system? I seem to remember something about powers being static, so perhaps not. Never hurts to ask, though.

4) The site is in the process of "Chapter 4." What is "Chapter 4?" This site has a metaplot. How should we newcomers familiarize ourselves with site history?

I realize that I come across as very formal. This is simply how I conduct myself when I'm nervous. I rely on formality. It is familiar and has yet to fail me (that said, there is still plenty of time). I am looking forward to getting started and you can be sure that Kevin and I will tell our other friends, as well.

Anyway, Andrew's mostly covered it with the questions I might've had. I'm still a little unsure on how this site plays but I just haven't read enough stuff so I'll come to understand it as I read more I'm sure. The site looks great!

Hello Kevin and Andrew and welcome to the site. Now that introductions are out of the way.

1: After you make a character and it gets approved.....that's it. All you do is go ahead and post a topic or join anothers.

2: No you do NOT have to use experience for pets and items. It's just a section where you can get additional things for your approved character. Lets say you want a bird, go make an app for one in the pet section. Lets say you want a magic wand, go make an app for one in the item section. It's that easy.

3: When you get an additional point in one of the stats, you can NEVER EVER get another one in that stat for that character. Oh, and you're read correctly about powers being static. You can never change your powers from out of the blue, it must have a story behind it. Like if someone were to make a character one day, but the next week, after they had been in a few RPs, they change their mind about the powers and they changed it with no backstory as to why, That would be a no no. If he were to create a backstory as to why he got different powers, like he were corrupted by an evil force, or he fell into a vat of toxic waste, I'm pretty sure that would be ok.

4: No, you don't have to know the history of the site.

Pretty much sums it up. It is ok to get new powers as long as you explain it well.

First rule, lighten up, come on here and have fun joke around. We pride ourselves on our lax policy of formality, cut up and joke with the admins, because before you get started I will probably mess with you .
