The Looks
Elaine Sayomi
To say Elaine is ‘pretty’ would be a bit of a stretch of the truth. She’s certainly not unattractive - she is half-goddess after all - but hers is a much more comfortable beauty. Very girl-next-door, if you will. This is only exaggerated by the not-at-all flattering clothing she wears, refusing to put her athletic body on display. T-shirts, loose jeans or shorts, and flats are typically what she wears, though she has as many outfits as insults. Not to mention, Elaine is fit. She’s built like a runner, or a martial artist, without an ounce of fat on her body; though she isn’t ripped, she has the kind of definition that action stars could only dream of, though she doesn’t quite veer into muscle girl territory.
Elaine is blond, but with liberal streaks of green through her hair. These streaks start at roots and spread into large swaths of emerald on a blond palette, matching the viridian green of her eyes. They glow slightly, particularly in moments of extreme defiance or will, growing even more pronounced then. She walks with authority, both from her power and her training; when she walks into a room, she immediately exerts control over the room, as if she owns it.
The Personality
Elaine is an incredibly willful individual. She does what she wants, when she does it. Thankfully (for her continued freedom) that typically follows what the law and her superiors have to say. She fights for good and has a very strong sense of justice and honor; this has, of course, put her in harms way before, and in the crossfire of her superiors at the NYPD. Nine times out ten, she will follow the letter of the law and bring the corrupt and lawless before the court of law. Other times, however, the law must be bent. While she will never commit murder, she will always do what she considers is right, even if that means compromising a case that could potentially propel her career upwards.
During on-duty hours, Elaine is nothing but professional; while a bit sassy and rude, she nonetheless maintains the appearance of a stoic officer of the law. Indeed, her appearance changes to match this; her long blond hair in a ponytail, no makeup to speak of. She is polite and professional to a fault, even to the point of offense. None of her sarcasm or wit is displayed when she wears the uniform; in a way, the uniform is her disguise, the guise of Elaine Sayomi being her true uniform. While off-duty, however, she couldn’t be more different. She is wild and promiscuous, with no preference for one sex or the other. Just as willful here as during work, she knows how to get her way and does so whenever the chance arises. This is where she is most comfortable; with the freedom to do what she wants.
The Story
Martial arts was all she had ever known.
She grew up with it, was adopted into a couple who owned a dojo, two martial arts masters in their own right, through from very different walks of life. Sekihiro Toshinori was a Japanese Marine when he met Roger Thrumfall, a U.S. Navy Seal on leave in Japan. It was love at first sight, the two very different men having a very on-again, off-again relationship until they retired ten years later. Together, they opened up a school in the suburbs of Houston, Texas, teaching children how to defend themselves from threats of all kinds. They taught martial arts, gun safety, survival training, and a myriad of other things that anybody would need to survive in the wilderness. It was here they grew old together, traveling between their school in the states to their dojo in Japan.
When the couple were already well into their sixties, they found Elaine; a little blond baby with the greenest eyes they’ve ever seen. Though found is a bit of a misnomer; Roger nearly tripped over her on his way out the door. After much cursing and deliberating, they elected to keep the child; both had always wanted children, but circumstances had always prevented them, and circumstances weren’t always so good for a gay couple, they couldn’t adopt. This might have been their last chance, so they jumped at it with the vigor and enthusiasm only old men fixing older regrets can.
She was a precocious child, always getting into fights; she hated lying and bullying, and though she kept getting punched down by the much older kids, she kept getting up and putting her dukes up, ready to fight to the death if she had to. As soon as she could walk, she was trained in the ways of martial arts and fighting, but she also had sympathy for the bullies and the downtrodden, and never wished them any real harm. It was this same empathy that led her to the army, like her fathers before her, despite their urging. Outdated as they were, they didn’t feel she’d be able to make it in the army.
She proved them wrong.
She excelled in the discipline, the labor, somehow keeping up with all her male counterparts and even outstripping them on occasion. Authority never took too well to her, but here, she was able to manage, earning her prestigious accolades and invitation to officer school, which she declined. She had no desire to order people to their deaths. Instead, she stayed on the path of the grunt, working in the mud overseas and witnessing atrocities no person should ever have to.
She came back changed. It wasn’t immediately noticable, not at first, but there were moments when the smile slipped and she’d stare into the distance, or when she’d flinch just a little too hard to be a joke at a loud sound. Her drinking, though never considered light, got even worse until her blood was more alcohol than plasma. She was only 21 when she first got arrested, for throwing a police car through a house.
See, her powers flared up overseas, which caused her discharge from the army. She didn’t know what to do without the structure, how to reconcile the horrible things she’d done. And during one of these drunken benders, Adlay came to her; the God of Light, of Strength and Blind Justice. Elaine was her daughter, a Descendant; her powers a birthright, the green hair and glowing eyes not just a random mutation, but a Bond between her and the rest of the Descendants in the world.
But that didn’t matter to Elaine; she found her purpose again. The cobwebs cleared, and only a few months out of the army, she joined the police academy, where she again found order, and reason, without the atrocities of war. Graduating top of her class, she soon began to work for the NYPD, working her way up from the bottom. She worked with SWAT, Internal Affairs, even in the mailroom, until she finally made detective. And a damn fine one. Her powers let her know instantly if someone is lying, and coupled with a sharp eye and keen mind let her lead her precinct in collars.
Her righteous attitude, however, put her at odds with some of the others on the force. Corruption runs rampant in the NYPD, and Elaine became caught in a scandal that forced her retirement. The reason they gave her was the growing resentment against metas in the city; people simply didn’t feel safe having a metahuman fight crime. Elaine knew it was all bullshit, so she left with vengeance in her heart. She formed Emerald Investigations, using her connections of decades on the force and own skills to get those fuckers that got her fired sent to jail, or worse.
Having found her calling, she extended Emerald Investigations, eventually leading her to Lazarus Parallax, a notorious criminal active in the city. Instead of bringing him down, she fell madly - and briefly - in love, a relationship that burned as quickly as it did hot and terminated in hurt feelings, thousands of dollars of property damage, and a child growing in her stomach. Nine months later, without the knowledge of his father, Darren was born into the world. That was 16 years ago, and he stands on a precipice, one Elaine can only guide him on.
Eventually, Elaine was contacted by a mysterious woman identifying herself as “Violet”, telling her about the Descendants and recruiting her to fight a mysterious enemy ...
The Powers
Northern Tigress:
From birth, Elaine has shown an aptitude for the martial arts that goes beyond prodigal. Practical as soon as he could walk, Elaine was jumping and flip-kicking with the best of them, graduating to an adult class at the ripe old age of 8. Northern Tigress is the name of a martial art she developed, combining all the various martial arts, her immense powers, and a bit of energy manipulation.
When using this style, a green layer settles over her skin; the low level of concentration applied seamlessly a barrier over her skin without having to concentrate, protecting her with the power of her constructs. This level of concentration is intense enough for time to slow by ten percent; not a great deal, but enough to let her avoid attacks before they can hit her. Other than this slight time dilation, Northern Tigress gives two other major powers.
First, Northern Tigress can apply force equally across anything she hits. This means she can easily destroy nearly anything, even massive gates or walls, because it is like it got struck at every point. This looks almost like an explosion, as a sudden burst of green light expands out of the impact location.
Second, Northern Tigress lets Elaine persevere through nearly any attack. So long as her barrier holds, no amount of force can move her, no matter the strength or circumstances, unless she wants to be moved.
Descendant Physiology: Like all Descendants, Elaine is an incredibly powerful individually, physically. Unlike her fellows, however, her physical strength is directly proportional to the amount of Willpower she possesses at any one time. As a Descendant, Elaine’s physical powers are incredible. She can run at speeds just under Mach 1, while also possessing the strength to lift a 747 over her head. Her durability is on par with her physical strength; most normal attacks have no effect on her, putting her in the top tier when it comes to physicality. Her reaction speed and coordination, as well as all of her secondary and tertiary senses, are second to none, due to natural advantage and decades of training.
Indomitable Will: Due to the incredible amount of willpower inherent in her, and being the home of the Green Cosmic Source, Elaine is highly resistant to any effects that would interfere with her mind. This includes, but is not limited to; Mind Reading, Mind Control, Hypnotic Suggestion, etc. Particularly powerful telepaths may still be able to interfere with her mind, though to a severely limited degree. This same ability manifests in her ability to read the ‘levels’ of these aspects within her domain that exist within a person; those aspects are, for a refresher, Willpower, Honor, and Justice. Anyone she can see is sheathed in an aura of green, seen only by her; the darker green and larger aura surrounding an individual, the more of these aspects the individual represents. Elaine has an innate knowledge of the exact ‘number’ the person possesses, and of what kind it is; Willpower, Justice, or Honor.
A Tiger’s Fur Coat: Naivety. An altogether simple ability, A Tiger’s Fur Coat refers to the Web of Will, the dimension of Willpower that feeds into all living things. Elaine can use this connection to the Gate to store physical objects, typically clothes. Elaine can only store things that belong to her specifically, or things she is given permission to store.. She can also use this to summon these items directly onto her person, instantly summoning weapons or clothing in the heat of battle. Any inorganic items that are stored in The Web of Will can be summoned. Once something is stored, for the purposes of this ability, it is considered ‘hers’ and thus can be summoned into this realm. She can also use Adlay’s Pocket at a distance, storing her items from up to 100 feet away (assuming she can either see them or knows their location) or equipping allies around her. Storing anything more than 50 pounds requires at least a post of interaction save for plot reasons. Summoning them takes the same amount of time.
Wildcat’s Roar: Curiosity. Like all Descendants, Elaine can create constructs from pure energy. The color of Elaine’s constructs are green, the color of Willpower. What form these constructs can take are only limited to her rather prodigious imagination. She uses these constructs to create stairs in midair, weapons and other projectiles, padding, etcetera. These constructs possess the same properties as their real-life counterparts, i.e. pillows are soft and swords are sharp. In addition, though she can wield it as if they weigh nothing, anybody else will feel the weight. Her max limit for size is 50 feet per construct, and she can create up to150 feet of constructs at once. These constructs can last as long as she wants, provided she can maintain some modicum of concentration on them and remains conscious. When it comes to durability, due to her level of Descendancy, her constructs are as strong as mid-level superhuman durability, easily capable of blocking speeding cars and trucks, as well as most bullet fire.
All of her constructs possess a unique “Concussive” property. Even the smallest tap to it will cause feedback, equal to double the force input. This applies even if the force applied breaks the construct. The force is delivered directly to the space that broke it, be it a weapon, fist, or shoulder. Elaine can decide to not have this ability active, even across different areas of the same construct. If a ranged weapon hits her constructs, an equivalently-sized projectile, shaped from her Green Energy, fires in the direction of the projectile, following it's exact angle and arc.
Power of the Streak: Studying. The Descendant of Willpower has historically stood up to tyrants, bullies, and dictators for their entire history. This power has led Elaine to develop a certain reservoir of untapped strength within her, unusable save for certain conditions. These apply whenever she must fight for someone else. If she is protecting someone, or fighting for a cause other than her own, her abilities increase. This includes any allies she may be fighting with. There is no technical limit to this; even if she gets separated from the source of this power, her abilities are still increased so long as she can be considered to be fighting for their honor or protection.
For each individual that applies, her physical strength and durability increase by 10%, as do the durability and concussive properties of her Willpower Constructs. This ability is increased to 2.5 times if Elaine is particularly close or protective of the person, such as family, individuals in the same group, and very close friends; this increase also applies if Elaine is directly responsible for the safety of these people, such as being tasked to protect a group of hostages. Whenever Elaine is affected by Inner Strength, a green aura surrounds her, growing more and more intense the more people affected.
Anybody affected by Power of the Streak are immune to damage perpetrated by anybody else also affected by it, no matter the power.
Claws of the Tiger: Awakening. This level of ability requires activation. When it is, a corona of green light covers her hands and forearms, clearing to reveal a pair of gauntlets. Though mostly steel-colored, the leather that makes up the inner portion of the glove is green, visible through the gaps in her armor. A glowing green emerald is present in the right glove, positioned in the middle of the steel plate that makes up the gauntlet. These gauntlets cover the entire forearm and hand, and despite the composite materials they’re seemingly made of, have the same durability as her constructs. Claws of the Tiger has two abilities, like all Awakenings. The first enhances her already prodigious physical strength, increasing it by twenty-five percent. The second manipulates Willpower itself. Unlike her constructs, which empathizes more of a metaphorical meaning of the term, Claws of the Tiger takes it literally.
Every time Elaine makes a movement that can be considered an attack, so long as the gauntlets are involved - be it a punch, a throw, a grapple, or even a weapon or projectile made of her construct energy - the victim has their Willpower impacted, visible as a burst of green stars, like a firework, that erupts out of the body. Each hit reduces the Willpower to fight in an individual. For a normal person, one or two good hits and they no longer have the will to fight, while another hit will remove their will to live. For individuals with strong willpower, however, this can take anywhere from four to twenty hits. Particularly stubborn individuals may be immune to this power. [Permission Based]
While Claws of the Tiger are activated, Elaine’s physical appearance is somewhat different. The green streaks in her hair are more prominent, and her pupils become slitted. Her demeanor becomes more animalistic as well, her back and legs tending towards bending; in addition to this, her eyes glow, while her incisors elongate and grow sharp. The rest of her teeth grow sharp and serrated, as well, giving her a vicious smirk. Her movement becomes somewhat more wild and uncontrolled, emulating the tiger she takes its name from.
The Weaknesses
Red and Yellow: Like all Descendants, Elaine possesses a weakness to these colors. If either of these colors are made to hit her in a way that would be damaging if she had normal durability, they will affect her as if they did. Small amounts of these colors fail to affect her anymore due to training, but being surrounded by it - such as a room painted the color or in a car of that color - will weaken her powers considerably, effectively reducing their effectiveness by half. In this instance, “powers” also refers to her physical and mental abilities, or anything enhanced by her being a Descendant, such as her speed, strength, durability, reflexes, and mental fortitude; this weakness furthermore transfers to her constructs as well, weakening them forthwith.
Extended exposure - more than 72 hours, in this case - can cause her powers to temporarily be weakened to the point of vanishing; only rest, unaffected by these colors, or exposure to Green or Blue can speed up the process of regaining her powers, but it is never a quick process.
Emotional Manipulation: Like all Descendants, Elaine can be seriously hurt by mental and emotional manipulation; Elaine is a bit odd in this regard, as she has an innate resistance to these manipulations. However, due to this, she is even more vulnerable to these manipulations should they affect her. The slightest change forced on her from an outside source can result in dizziness, nausea, and even physical injury.
Motherly Love: Despite her incredible strength and powers, Elaine’s power don’t work on anybody they are currently affecting; anybody currently affected by Pride of the Streak or protected by the constructs produced by Wildcat’s Roar are completely immune to damage by her, no matter the source. That is to say, anybody Elaine is currently protected or feels responsible for cannot be harmed by or her powers.
Limited by imagination: The Constructs created by Wildcat’s Roar are limited by her imagination; for Elaine, that means she is not able to create anything more complex, at this point in time, than a small animal.
Limited by Construction: In both a physical and mental way, Elaine will not risk or endanger the life of an innocent. Her powers will not allow her to bring permanent harm to anyone she absolutely knows to be an innocent. She can still, say, smack an idiot over the head, but she can’t do anything that would cause actual harm to them. It’ll hurt, though.
Stubborn: Elaine is an incredibly stubborn individual, but she’s not necessarily the smartest; a clever individual can convince her to do something she doesn’t want to do if they make it seem like she’s doing it out of spite or if it’s her own idea.
Psionic Headaches: attempts at mind control/reading give her headaches, equivalent to the strength of the psychic
The Items
Unless otherwise stated, all of these items are stored and kept in the Web of Will, capable of being summoned with a thought. Elaine has police-issue weapons, multitudinous outfits, hiking equipment, and various other things you might need stuck in her Web of Will, though its all mundane. She has two motorcycles stored in the Web of Will as well.
Bracelet of the Lady of Justice: A green bracelet with the image of a web in it; it appears to be made out of some translucent stone and hugs quite tightly to the wrist of her right hand. Despite its physical appearance, the Bracelet is made of incredibly hardened, astronomically dense Will Energy, though Elaine wears it as if it weighs as much as it looks. For the purposes of other people trying to pick it up, it weighs as much as a collapsed star, though this only applies if they have the intent to wear it.
The Bracelet of the Lady of Justice has several powers within it.
First, this Bracelet gives Elaine more refined control over the Web of Well, allowing her to access it from even the most remote of places. If willingly given to someone else, The Bracelet of the Lady of Justice will grant that person access to the Web of Will and the abilities that go with it. This same power lets Elaine access Adlay’s own Webstep ability; in short, Elaine can open a portal to the Web of Will and physically access this dimension. With the bracelet in hand, she can then navigate this twisted world, allowing her to exit at another point. No matter where she wants to go or how far away it is, using this Webstep ability, Elaine can get there in just a matter of seconds; distances less than a mile are nearly instant, with a delay so negligible as to be uncountable.
Second, this Bracelet gives Elaine the gift of authority. Her natural ability to sense injustice and dishonorable actions is coupled with this Bracelet. When presented with this bracelet, a glamour is cast over all those involved in the dispute, regardless if they are present or not, viewing Elaine as the highest mortal authority capable of solving the problem; be it a king/queen, a detective, a priest, etcetera. This glamour is complex but limited; it will falsify documents, create ID’s, and even video evidence if necessary to prove identity, but only if presented by either the targets of the glamour or Elaine. Any outside authority can present evidence that Elaine is not who she claims to be; doing so breaks the glamour and makes them immune to its effects. This glamour can only be broken by the aforementioned method, or a being with power to rival Adlays.
Third, this bracelet gives Elaine the ability of detection. The Web of Will connects all living things, and using the power of the Ring of the Lady of Justice, Elaine can isolate the Strand that connects that person. Doing this lets her track any individual she can think about; this normally takes up to half an hour, but if the individual is currently engaged in acts that involve her domain, that time is greatly reduced, up to ten seconds depending on the situation; a murder suspect, for example, is very easily traced. This cannot be used on people without a soul.
The Fluff
Ageless: As a Descendant, Elaine is completely immune to the effects of aging, and to the ravages of time; that is to say, she will not develop time-based illnesses, such as cataracts or cancer.
Military Trained: Elaine is ex-military, and she was damn skilled at it. When she retired after three tours, she joined the police force, working her way quickly up the ranks to SWAT and, finally, detective. She is skilled at all forms of combat, tracking, and urban survival.
Detective: Elaine used to be a detective, and has honed her ability to solve crimes and find clues over years. She was a damn fine detective, leading collars in her precinct. She uses these skills now as a private detective.

I feel any projectiles should go back to where the initial shot came from, and thus potentially missing any targets at long range.

Check your sentence structure here - got some repeating details.

Is it a bracelet or a ring?

This needs to be reworded. I am having difficulty understanding what you mean exactly. Does this mean any "enemy" that happens to be within that range, is safe as well?
