Sexual Content 2: Sexual content is permitted. References and writing about genitalia and sex acts are permitted, but explicit detail is not. Fade to black, or use the dotdotdot rule. (Let's keep it PG-13.)
Violence 2: Graphic violence is permitted. Explicit description or in-game narration violence is allowed.
Despite these ratings, keep in mind that there is a limit, and you should not cross it just to garner attention. Also, resorting to curse words is also like adding senseless fluff to your posts.

A New Member Vaguely Collapses In!
A-hello there! How are you all?
I am terrible at introductions and don't know what to say next. Oh god.
Well, this is a Superhero RP forum, seems reasonable I talk about what brings me here - I'd like to say I've always been a fan of Superheroes as a genre? I've not neccesarily been a big follower of comics or anything, and I'd say my following of both cartoons and movies has been relatively poor comparitive to others, but I've just always been a fan of the sort of... superhero idea and aesthetics.
In particular, recently picked up a superhero-themed card game, and after having listened to a few lore podcasts by the creators of the game (as well as taking part in a small superhero themed tabletop) I've just really had the genre on the mind. I've RP'd plenty of other places in the past, buuut never actually been part of a proper superhero RP community - more commonly in worlds with superpowers and such but more as an 'everyday' kind of thing rather than the heroic genre.
Thusly I thought I'd have a look around to see if I could find a place to allow myself some more continuous writing/roleplay in a superhero setting, and lo and behold, I found this place! I apologise to all you unlucky people that must suffer through my continued existence - it's what you get for being at the top of the Google search.
I will say, this'll probably be one of the first communities I've been in with quite as tight restrictions on roleplay - in terms of 'paying off powers with weaknesses' and 'gaining experience to upgrade your character' and similar such. Used to things been a bit more free-flow - albeit I can understand why such rules are in place considering the genre! I don't imagine I SHOULD have any issues with the system, as it all seems perfectly reasonable, but if I do wind up stepping on any toes/making mistakes, please be forgiving and help steer me to the right path! As I say, shouldn't be an issue, just hoping I don't overlook/misunderstand anything.
I dooo have one question though! In the rules you mention people having multiple accounts - one for each character. Just want to know how you operate that? Like do people tend to have one sorta OOC hub account, and then seperate accounts for their characters? Or do they ONLY have character accounts, and use those accounts interchangably for OOC interactions?
Also in terms of multiple accounts and experience rewards - is experience tied to the characters, or is it tied to the overall user of all of those characters? So do you have a general pool of experience to pull from to pay for things like advancements, or does each character have their own pool to advance themselves and themselves alone? If the latter is the case, when deciding to say... pay experience to buy an extra character slot, are you allowed to split the cost between your different character's experience pools, or would you have to pay it all from one?
Sorry if these are dumb questions, it's just a lot of this is still quite daunting to me. Honestly not sure if I'll be using the advancements all that much, and only planning to have one character to start off with, but these things would be good to know for future reference!
...Also apologies for the huge first post.

Re: A New Member Vaguely Collapses In!
Hi there Dregan! First off, welcome to the site.
So none of your questions are dumb. Generally the account you mainly use or first signed up with becomes your OOC account though OOC interactions can be done through any account. I wouldn't think of the multiple accounts thing as a rule, it's just something that some people do to make identifying a character easier.
On the subject of XP, it tracks with characters not accounts. So you can only advance a character with the XP that said character has earned. However when it comes I purchasing a new character slot you can pool XP from multiple characters. Hopefully that makes sense haha. And yea you don't have to use advancements if you don't want to. I've been on the site for over four years and in that entire time have only put advancements on one of my characters. It's just an extra thing that you can do if you want but you're certainly not required to.
Hopefully that explains everything and I look forward to looking over your character app whenever it's made!

Okay, that's all clear, makes sense to me! Thank you for the welcome and for going through all that with me! Helps a lot!
As for character apps, should hopefully get to sorting one of those at some point later today. Thanks again!

Re: A New Member Vaguely Collapses In!
I recommend you get onto our Discord.
I use 1 account for everything, hence all my characters being in my signature.
As for "restrictions" on the characters here, there really aren't any. All characters should come flawed. We don't want Mary Sues and Gary Stus running around here now, do we?
Aaaalso, if you have any more questions, don't be afraid to ask.

Re: A New Member Vaguely Collapses In!
I do plan to join the Discord eventually! Just want to settle a bit on the forum first before I hop straight into it - admittedly have a bit of anxiety when it comes to joining big communities, so just wanna ease in a little here before I jump into any big chats.
I will say, perhaps 'restrictions' is the wrong word of me to use. Perhaps it would be better to say I'm not quite used to roleplaying in environments that are quite as... systemised as this? (At least, not in a written roleplay setting, obviously tabletop and game-oriented roleplays are a slightly different matter.) Things like having to sorta rate the characters stats/attributes one-to-four, and earning experience for character advancement and similar such - those are kinda new/unusual things for me.
Not that I think they're bad or anything, I can certainly see the merit of them in a setting like this where you may run into people who haven't quuuuiiite got the hang of character balance in a pure written form. More than anything I just hope I wind up doing everything right. @-@

Re: A New Member Vaguely Collapses In!
Well, we're not that large of a community, in my opinion. We have a stable 20 or so odd members that actually use the discord. The rest of the registered users on the site are either duplicate accounts, or alternate accounts used by the majority that currently RP on here.
Sooo, don't be intimidated. If you've got questions, just toss 'em to me in PM. Or here. It doesn't matter.
