jeannie gets lost

so another day in the wacky life of Jeannie. well, today is actually pretty normal she's enjoying some pancakes and wondering what she'll get into today. as her days are never normal for long.

her horoscope mentioned an exciting business venture would be coming her way soon. how exciting she wonders what that could be.

The Lost had heard of Jeannie's reputation. According to the rumors, she's greatest bounty hunter in the universe. The black town car carried him and his men to her castle. He had a specific job for her. If she really was as great as the rumors claimed, this problem would be a piece of cake for her.

When the town car arrived at her castle, two men wearing black suits stepped out from the car. They were also wearing The New Path compass as a silver pin on the lapels of their suits. One of the men held one of the back seat doors open for The Lost to step out of. The Lost was also wearing a black suit, and a matching silver pin, but there was something distinctly different about him. He wore a white cloth cowl over his head, and over his face he wore a featureless, metal mask. The metallic plate was polished so clean that it was as reflective as a mirror. Over his hands he wore white gloves.

He nodded to the other two men, and they followed him from the town car to the castle. Walking up the steps to the castle, he wondered if he should expect to see a gate or a drawbridge. He wondered if there'd be a guard stationed at the door. Would there be a doorbell? Maybe a gong, or a robe that was attached to an actual bell? Honestly, he wasn't sure what to expect from today, but what better way to find out than to just go and find out for himself?

a drawbridge opens out of the castle and the men are met by the unusual sight of a giant teddy bear in a British guard uniform. even weirder the bear talks and ask what they wanted. yeah, the castles staff are all Jeannie stuffed animals,her dad animated them when Jeannie was little so she had someone to play with when him and her mom was busy,then decided to keep them around as helpers.

meanwhile, Jeannie is finishing breakfast with her parents when a monkey in a suit appears telling them about their guest.
is it those men in black again,people calling,mistaking that Frisby thing you was working on for ufo's  thought you was done with that. Jeannie mom asks as government agencies popping up with questions was a surprisingly common thing at their house.

no the fetch fellow still need to be properly calibrated for chiwawas,poor little guys are still getting carried away by it,but once that's stranded out all dog kind will benefit from being able to play fetch even when their masters away.
no, you're safe, this time, porfessor ,officer fuzzy says it's the princess they want replies bananas the butler monkey.

me yay wonder what's upjeannie jumps up and down excited about having visitors and heads to officer fuzzy's guard station to see who's there.
her dad off to work on his inventions disappears in one of the secret tunnels to his lab.

Jeannie mom helps bananas with the dishes and they laugh talking about how surprised whoever came for her daughter's help will be when they learn the greatest bounty hunter in the universe is an 18-year-old girl in panda bear pajamas  and wearing a princess crown,she likes to pretend she's a princess at home since she lives in a castle she should get be a princess right.

The metal plate worn by the man in the black suit turned to face odd sight of the teddy bear. The metal plate had The New Path silver compass boldly emblazoned on it. He too must have seemed to be an odd sight, and though he was surprised to be conversing with a stuffed animal, he didn't show it. Without missing a beat, he replied to the stuffed animal.

"I am The Lost. I'm looking for the greatest bounty hunter in the universe. I have a job I'd like to offer her," he answered. He hadn't said anything particularly rude or unsavory, but his tone of voice betrayed an air of superiority. More so than anything he had actually said, should have had.

ok, then the teddy bear say he turns and goes into the house before he can get too far he bumps into Jeannie who was running down the hall.

he comical catches her in a bear hug so she doesn't fall Jeannie laughs as his big fluffy tummy tickles her. hey there officer fluffy,Mr. bananas said we got a guest!

yes,princess a mister lost wants to see you, the bear carries Jeannie back to the gate to meet them and sets her down.

Jeannie looks at the men sightly confused the one officer fluffy identified as the leader had no face.maybe that why he wants her help to chase an evil wizard that took his face.hello there I'm Jeannie rose universe's greatest bounty hunter,officer fluffy says you have a job offer for me

"That's right," The Lost replied with a nod. He stepped forward and offered his hand to shake. Jeannie's appearance didn't phase Lost at all. Especially considering he had just met a living teddy bear.

"I am The Lost. I work for The New Path conglomerate," he introduced himself again, gesturing to himself as he did.

"The man we're looking for is Kalmosk Vomohvi. He's ex-Spetsnaz. Apparently, he grew desperate during the final days of the Soviet Union, and is guilty of many war crimes. Somehow he's managed to avoid capture for all these decades," he spoke of the man with disgust in his voice.

"But, it shouldn't be a problem for the universe's greatest bounty hunter," he added with a bit of a scoff. One of the men besides him stepped forward to offer Jeannie a beige file. It contained several documents related to the man in question. Included with it were two photos of a middle aged man. The first photo was in black and white. It seemed to be an official photo that the man posed for. Probably meant for record keeping or an ID. The second photo was in color and depicted a clear shot of what was clearly the same man. In this photo he was moving through a busy crowd at a train station and didn't seem to be aware that his photo was being taken.

"That black and white photo was taken back in 1896. The other was taken twelve days ago," Lost stated flatly. Despite the huge difference in dates, the man in the photos didn't appear to have aged at all.

"You'll also find in that file Vomohi's last known whereabouts and various other information that might prove useful to your investigation. Supposedly he was last seen in a town called Newburyport," he went on to add.

"If you're willing to take on this job, we're willing to pay you three times the bounty on Vomohi's head. We'll even pay a third of the fee up front," The Lost would finish his explanation of the job with an offer of payment. The other man in the black suit held up a silver attache case. He opened it up to reveal a very large sum of cash.

It was a pretty standard job, aside from the fact that the target did not seem to age. Would Jeannie Rose take the job?

Jeannie shakes the lost hand then listens to his job,she looks at the photos, huh,he doesn't age that's interesting maybe he's a vampire or a wizard ,Jeannie has a big smile on her face when the lost says how much they'd pay her.

she looks at the suitcase of money,yeah that's a good way to start negotiations,they most really want this guy. Jeannie doesn't take long to think about it. you'd be a fool to pass up such a well-paying job especially when it doesn't seem to be too hard.

Jeannie says smiling already thinking of fun stuff she can buy with all that money,her horoscope was right on the money literally about today being a good day for business.

There was something to say about taking on an opportunity that seemed to good to be true.

"Glad to hear it. However, The New Path conglomerate likes to do things a bit more differently than you may be used to. Before we hire you, we'd like you to sign a few agreements," The Lost explained. The man with the attache case closed it, and then placed several documents on top of it.

"We need you to sign a few papers. This here is your standard non-disclosure agreement. This means that while working with The New Path, you will not disclose any company secrets you might happen to learn while on the job. Naturally, you are obligated to report anything illegal to the appropriate authorities, but aside from that we ask that those we work with are discrete. You understand, don't you? We can't have our employs stealing the technology we worked hard to create. It's really just a precautionary measure," The Lost offered a small box containing a fancy pen to Jeannie as he explained the first set of documents.

"These other documents are regarding the actual job in question. We'll be paying you in advanced, but this money is not a gift. You can't just accept it and never actually complete the job. In the event that you cannot complete the job, you will be asked to return the advanced payment," The Lost went on to explain.

"We just need you to write out your name here. Sign under there, initial here, and here," The Lost flipped to several parts of the the documents and circled the places where Jeannie had to sign.

"Finally, if you need any help or advice during the investigation, you can contact me at this number," The Lost would go on to say as he handed her a business card. The name simply read, The Lost. It had New Path Security Contractor listed as his job. It was emblazoned with an image of The New Path silver compass. It also had an email and a phone number that Jeannie could contact him with.

huh, that's a lot of papers Jeannie thinks as she signs the papers,why so much paperwork well mister lost explained why she was signing all this but paperwork is one of her least favorite things to do.
ok then,nice penjeannie smiles maybe if she gets herself a real fancy pen with some of her money she'll look forward to paperwork more.
she then sticks the card in her pocket
ok then all set then.

"The pen is a gift to you," What The Lost said was pleasant enough, though his tone of voice was still gruff. He also hated this kind of stuff. The pen was black with silver accents. Of course, it too was emblazoned by The New Path silver compass. It was a company pen.

"We'll send your estate a copy of the documents for your personal record keeping," The Lost added.

"Then, everything seems to be in order. The New Path conglomerate thanks you for your cooperation in this matter and expects great things from you. I suggest you start your investigation in Newburyport," The Lost said with a nod. The men he was with would leave the beige file with information on the target, the attache case with her advanced pay, The Lost's business card, and the fancy pen with Jeannie Rose.

"Well, you've got my number. Farewell," He'd state flatly, as if he couldn't wait to say goodbye. If Jeannie didn't have any questions, he'd give her one last nod before turning back towards the car. His men would follow him, and they'd drive off, leaving Jeannie with her new job.

yay thanks, ok then Jeannie hugs lost happy with her gift then gathers up the stuff and waves goodbye to mister lost and his friends as they leave.  after there gone she goes about getting ready to go.first she gets dressed can't catch bad guys in your pj's


she changes into a dropkick murphy's t-shirt sense she's shipping out to Boston kinda same state anyway and blue jeans.
Newburyport huh Massachusetts well that's an odd place to look for a soviet war criminal,ok then  Mr. bananas make me some reservations at a nice hotel there and see about renting a hanger from the airport there the monkey butler goes and makes some phone calls to do that.

officer fluffy and some other big stuffed animals a hippo and an elephant help Jeannie   pack up suitcases and her bike into her helicopter. after getting the  information on where she'll be staying from Mr. bananas Jeannie says goodbye to her parents and fluffy friends.
and takes off to fly to Newburyport to begin her latest hunt.

The Lost allowed Jeannie to hug him, but did not hug her back. Newburyport was a bustling city, with plenty of opportunity to find information on the target. The most recent sighting had been more than a week ago. He had not been spotted at any major transports hubs in the city, and the various checkpoints setup on roads leaving the city had not caught him either. Either he was laying low in the city, or he had managed to slip away. Considering how tight security was in all of these places, this was not likely. Though, still a possibility.

The reports go on to describe that the target has been evading capture for quite some time. He seems to go inactive for long periods of time, staying off the radar. He would not risk coming to America if he wasn't up to something important. According to his past movements, he never stays in a city like this for more than five days before he's either spotted leaving or arriving elsewhere. Unfortunately, the sheer volume of security footage that the authorities have to pour over has left them overwhelmed. Thus, even if he is spotted, it's usually too late to catch him.

According to that, he should have already moved on. The question was where? Though if The New Path's documents could answer that, they probably wouldn't have hired Jeannie in the first place.
