Rogue Elf on the Run

Sabrina didn’t waste any time in following the woman and her wolf into the sewers beneath the streets of Dubai. The smell was pretty pungent, but the pale ex-mercenary would do her best to avoid thinking about the smell. Sabrina knew it would only be a matter of time before the hired guns broke through her frozen defenses, so as a precaution she blocked off a portion of the sewer with ice, leaving just enough of a crevasse at the bottom of the blockade for the dirty sludge to flow unhindered. Up to this point Sabrina was still uncertain as to whom they were up against. Obviously these mercenaries were prepared for anything, seeing as how they brought along a drill to break through Sabrina’s walls. They had to have known somehow that the young ice wielder would be trying to aid the blonde rogue and her companion, but how?

Back at the construction site the hired guns had finally managed to drill three holes into the massive ice wall, and sticks of dynamite were being loaded in. It was then that the Commander received a tap on the shoulder. One of his men, a frail and rather weak looking individual that was completely covered up from head to toe, included a gas mask to cover his face, stood hovering over him. “Sir, their on the move again. Headed North if I’m not mistaken.”

The commander stared at the masked mercenary then turned to the team that was in the process of wiring the TNT for detonation. “Break through this wall ASAP. Me and the boys are moving out.” With that the commander struggled to his feet with assistance from the masked mercenary and made their way to a matte black SUV with blacked out windows. Once inside, the group of five men including the commander would race off to try and cut off the trio’s escape route.

The sewer was relatively quiet with the exception of the sloshing of the filthy sludge being churned up with each step the trio took. It wasn’t long before Sabrina realized she was involuntarily lagging behind. She couldn’t shake this feeling of uneasiness she felt. Slowly but surely that uneasy feeling turned into a small headache and a tad bit of nausea. Shortly after both set in, Sabrina found herself using the wall of the sewer pipe to brace herself, while she massaged her temple with her free hand.

“Well, well, isn’t this a bit nostalgic?” A mysterious voice echoed throughout Sabrina’s head. “Why are you even bothering with these two? Why no cash in on their contract? All it would take is two bullets. You know how fun hunting can be, why not give in, stop pretending to be anything other than the cold blooded killer you are.”

Sabrina pushed off the wall and tried to shake her head back and forth as though that would help alleviate the pain from the headache, and get rid of the voice she was hearing.
“You think shaking your head is going to get me to leave? I’m not going anywhere, not this time.” The voice continued to pester before finally being acknowledged by Sabrina.

“Get the fuck out of my head. I’m not that person anymore. Never was!”

A small chuckle rang out from the voice. “Fine we’ll do things your way for now, but I will have my fun before the day is done.” With that, Sabrina’s nausea and headache subsided and she was finally able to see just how much ground she had to cover in order to catch up to Miri and Ryzo. She wasted little time catching back up to them, but could help but feel she was putting them in danger by being around them.

The shady SUV swerved through traffic taking the occasional alleyway till they were in prime position to cut off the trio. The vehicle came to a stop in the middle of an alleyway and the men quickly poured out. The frail mercenary helped the commander from the SUV and led him over to a manhole cover. Pointing to it, his voice echoed from behind the mask. “This is the spot.”

The commander turned to the remaining men, giving them a slight nod of the head, signaling for them to move in. They were literally moments away from a massive pay day. With the cover removed one of the five mercenaries descended down into the sewers, instantly spotting out Miri and her wolf companion. With no hesitation he reached for his rifle and opened fire, but his bullets would not reach their mark. Instead, a massive wave of ice cascaded out from behind Ryzo, stopping the bullets in their tracks. The ice continued to cascade forward eventually pinning the merc to the sewer wall.

“Get behind me!” Shouted Sabrina as instinct kicked in. After throwing the torrent of ice, Sabrina quickly placed herself between the rest of the descending mercs and the two she was trying to protect. Sabrina turned around for a brief second, her icy blue eyes seemed more alive than they had been all evening, almost as though she somehow thrived on combat. She was about to bark out a warning when she felt a piercing pain in her head, this was much different than the headache she had experienced before. The pain became unbearable almost instantaneously, causing the pale woman to drop to one knee while clenching her head in pain.

“RUN!” Was about all she could muster up the strength to say. Sabrina’s head began to lurch back towards the opening to the sewer as the frail Mercenary slowly floated down from above. “There’s no resisting girl. You are mine now.” His feet softly touched down on the landing before he began to speak once more. The remaining Mercenaries remained above ground, while their specialist went to work. The secret weapon they had been holding on to till now. Sabrina had played right into their hand, pinning Mirshann and Ryzo in a spot where they were all but guaranteed to be caught.

The frail man lifted his arm, almost as though he was working a marionette. In the same instant Sabrina was lifted to her feet involuntarily. “I see it, your mind, I hear your thoughts. You wanted to put the past behind you, but your past is not yet done with you!” The masked man continued to manipulate Sabrina, forcing her to turn towards the woman and her wolf. Her right hand lifted up as frost began to form around it. “Yes there it is. There’s the murderous intent that made you ever so famous. Let go, become what you were meant to be!” the man shouted before clenching his fist. Sabrina did her best to resist the man’s mind control and barely managed to let off a blast of ice that would narrowly avoid Miri and Ryzo. Again she struggled to speak through the man’s control, begging for Ryzo to take Miri and run.
