The Looks

A NOT-SO-CLOSE APPROXIMATION OF APPEARANCE:

Encke, by any standard, has quite an eye-catching appearance, not in the sense that he is especially attractive, but he just has an exceedingly odd combination of features that most people find unusual. His skin, bronzed and a dark shade of chocolate, contrasts starkly with his close-cropped honey blond hair and light, topaz coloured eyes. While not so bold in colour to look unnatural, the combination is quite odd, and definitely enough to make most take a second look. If you can get past the oddness, however, his features are actually quite warm: Encke's pale eyes are expressive, endlessly flickering with earnest emotion and concern, even if the rest of his countenance can be a bit stoic. His sharp jawline and high cheekbones may not do him a lot of favors in the "approachable" department, but it only takes a little while to get past that.

Solidly built, Encke is all lean muscle, and though he doesn't have a scrap of fat on him, he isn't really the type to be called "skinny". He isn't bulky either, but he definitely is broad shouldered, and is a lot more suited to heavy lifting than, say, acrobatics or endurance running.

He hates shoes, and refuses to wear them as often as he can get away with it, and thus has extremely calloused, tough feet. He dresses neatly but simply, and wears a tight, black sleeveless shirt with matching pants on missions that call for increased stealth and dexterity. Encke rarely, if ever, wears a mask.

The Legacy

Personality: Encke, more than anything, is a calm and collected individual. He composed to the point of unfeeling, and more than willing to joke around when the time calls for it, but otherwise he prefers to organize his thoughts before he acts, and won't lose his cool unless the circumstances are extremely strenuous. He was never one to get fired up over nothing, and speaks in a reserved, confident manner, showing restraint in almost all that he does.

Despite this, Encke can be intensely passionate, and has a strong moral compass that at times leads him to insubordination. He won't stand for something he believes to be wrong, and that means morally or practically. At times, this can be a weakness: his strong faith in his own judgement, while not unfounded, can leave him hard to persuade of other ideas. That being said, he does his best to be fair, and will not cling to a judgement that has been proven to be harmful or incorrect.

Despite his tendency for disobedience, Encke truly believes in the principle of the whole before the self, and would gladly sacrifice for a cause he deems worthy of his trust. He understands that no institution, or person, if perfect, and it is important to look at the sum of one's parts before you begin scrutinizing them. He holds tradition, respect, and honor, in very high regard.

History: Unfortunately for Encke, up until the age of twelve, there isn't a lot to put down in this category. He was found shivering and delirious on a beach near Seattle, Washington by a couple of tourists who decided to brave the endless drizzle for a late night stroll on the boardwalk. Their names were Holly and Kurt Ayres, a single mother and her son, and would later take in Encke (they discovered the word on a soggy piece of paper in his fraying coat pocket) after the doctors diagnosed him with retrograde amnesia and declared him a ward of the state.

Despite that whole episode, Encke actually has had a notably decent life. His adoptive mother, though an American citizen, was actually an expat living in Belize, and took him to live in Belize City as soon as the adoption process was finalized. He struggled daily in a school that did not have the resources to tend to his learning disabilities, but Holly was understanding, and let him drop out when it became clear that school could no longer help him. Growing up in the tropics by the ocean was incredibly satisfying, and allowed him to foster his powers as he discovered them, which began some time after his thirteenth birthday.

He made sure his abilities were kept hidden from those he knew, simply because there was no need to tell them. Holly was always accommodating, and he trusts his brother more than anyone, but he isn't sure how either of them would react. Encke has since left Belize to live in the US.

Nobody really has the slightest clue of what happened in his early childhood, or why he has such a large gap in his memory. There's no record of an "Encke", or a boy matching his description, in any missing persons' databases. At times, he gets images of a past long forgotten, triggered by sounds and smells, and is quite prone to vivid and odd dreams, but doctors have repeatedly told him that the damage suffered to his brain not only make recovery of his memory unlikely, but dangerous to even attempt. He tries not to obsess over it, but has never quite managed to suppress  the intense feeling that a bigger part of him than he could realize is lost.

The Powers and Weaknesses

Powers

Power 1: Encke primarily possesses the power of water manipulation, in its many and various forms. Beyond simple feats of aquakinesis, such as moving and lifting small bodies of water, this hero can also command tides and whirlpools, and breathe underwater by using his powers to extract oxygen from the liquid surrounding him. However, logically, the larger to body of water he is attempting to manipulate, the more strength and concentration he will require to be successful, assuming its even possible: forming a few litres of water into a ball and hurling it at someone is nothing compared to, say, drawing in a tide.

Power 2:  Encke also possesses strong healing powers, though they are extremely taxing to employ. He can heal any living organism, from animals (including himself) to plants and other such life, and restore them to their full health and capabilities. Again, the extent of the injuries greatly impact his chances of success, and he is no miracle worker. Bringing someone back from the brink of death would be an extraordinarily unlikely feat for Encke.

Power 3: Though not anywhere near on the level of many heroes and villains, Encke does have supernatural strength, which serves him well in battle. He can best any normal human in a show of strength, and actually will do quite well against some supers, but it is not his main power and thus is actually his weakest ability.

Weakness(es)

Weakness 1: Quite predictably, Encke is largely averse to fire and extreme heat. Even surviving for any extended period of time in a desert environment would be extremely difficult for him, even more so than your average human being. Fire attacks, especially in places where water difficult to reach, are quite effective against this hero, and he won't last long against them unless he's close to a large body of water.

Weakness 2: Not a weakness in and of it's own, but more of a tragic flaw found in his healing abilities: the process is beyond taxing, and requires his full concentration and focus, to the point where he can do absolutely nothing else if he is healing someone, and will even have a hard time paying attention to his surroundings, or anything but the task at hand. Basically, the process leaves him totally defenseless as he is using his healing powers, and leaves him drained and quite unfit for battle afterwards, depending on the severity of the injuries he is tending to.

Weakness 3: Encke struggles with dyslexia, and dropped out of school quite young. While he still has excellent instincts and leadership capabilities, he doesn't do very well with specific knowledge, technological skills, or, understandably, reading. Being the proud and stubborn guy he is, he will rarely ask for help with these issues, and prefers to silently suffer or be confused than ask for help.

RP Mechanics

RP Mechanic(s):

·Excellent leader; trusts his decisions and capabilities

·Good analytical skills, despite being largely uneducated

Items/Minions

Encke relies overwhelmingly on his physical prowess and natural abilities, both out of principle and, honestly, no real need to change. He possesses several knives, which he uses to enhance and direct his water manipulation if the time calls for it, but besides that, he has no items of note in his arsenal.
