The Looks

Slake is a long, athletic build, being somewhat lanky but not without a bit of meat on his bones: he is accustomed to running, but still holds his own in the weight room. His facial features are his strong suit, in that they are not defining. His black hair is always kept close cropped, he is always cleanly shaven, with thin, pale lips, and a small nose. His jaw is square, but not particularly chiseled, his eyes are noticeably blue, but dark enough that they are dismiss-able. All in all, Slake is faintly handsome while also being easily forgettable, best described as a flirtatious wink in a crowded room. His upper back also has a scar from a bullet wound, just to the left of his spine. As far as clothing goes, Slake prefers his nondescript CIA-issued suit when not on the job, but wears a combat fit black camouflage shirt and pants, with his trademark single raindrop logo emblazoned on the chest. In both outfits, he constantly wears his sunglasses out of habit.

The Legacy

Personality: Slake is relatively quiet, but is a keen fan of 'gallows humor' before and after missions. Despite this, the man prides himself on being emotionless, and will go to extreme lengths to prove how little he cares for anything beyond completing his mission. That said, Slake has shown a weakness in this emotional armor in the field many a time before, and has known to even go out of his way to save those he deems to be innocent, whether they are on his side or not.

History: Edward Slake was born to Benjamin and Martha Slake in 1985 in Washington, D.C. His father, being a former CO in the CIA, prompted the boy to go into the military, which Slake did, eventually following his father's path to the CIA. At the CIA, Slake learned combat training, and gained incredible endurance, though his field awareness proved to be his strongest advantage, which he honed for five years working for the agency. After a half decade had passed, Slake was sent to Venezuela to work under a wealthy businessman who was set to become president of the oil giant. There, he was tasked to defend an experimental supercomputer as it neared time for its release to the public as part of a goodwill campaign for the Venezuelan presidency. So delicate was the machine, that even the water from the oils of human skin could ruin the equipment. For this reason, the businessman, known as Rojas, equipped Slake with two wrist-mounted dehydrators, capable of extracting all of the water from a target up to 20 yards away and releasing it as water vapor. Slake managed to thwart a heist designed by Rojas's rivals using the technology, but not before one gave him a clue to find out more about Rojas. Using this tip, Slake discovered that his real mission in Venezuela was to make sure Rojas was elected despite his tendency toward a dictatorship, because he offered oil to the United States at a fraction of the cost. Upon learning this, Slake abandoned the CIA, and instead destroyed the supercomputer, sending Rojas into a mad rage. Slake was then shot by an assassin of Rojas' as he escaped Venezuela, but despite his injury, successfully escaped from the country, where Rojas would lose the election a week later. From then on, Slake has used his old CIA contacts to find mercenary work, where he finds ways to put his intellect and dehydrators to work.

The Powers and Weaknesses

Powers

Power 1: Dehydration - Slake can use his wrist mounted dehydrators to extract water from a target (organic or non-organic) up to 20 yards away. Through his practice with the dehydrators, Slake is able to dehydrate a human target just enough to put their body into a power-saving mode, knocking them unconscious, or even kill.

Power 2: Improvisation - Slake's greatest asset is his intellect, and his ability to assess a situation and McGuyver a plan out of nothing was the stuff of legend in his short time at the CIA.

Weakness(es)

Weakness 1: Vulnerability - Despite above-average training in endurance, strength, and combat, Slake is still but a normal man in a world full of superpowered individuals. His powers are mostly an attempt to make up for his lack of physical power.

Weakness 2: Guilty Conscious - If someone is deemed innocent in Slake's mind, to kill them is morally wrong. For this reason, he is known to save security guards that moments before had tried to kill him, or stop his current objective to help a stranger in need.

RP Mechanics

RP Mechanic(s): Slake caught hell for his black camouflage shirt he preferred for combat missions constantly, with agents remarking on the fact that there was no point for camo at night. This running joke has continued to follow Slake into his mercenary life.

Items/Minions: Twin Dehydrators - As seen under powers. They take up about half of either forearm, are colored black with a spinning fan on the palm to draw water in. Vents on the outside release the water as vapor.
