Sexual Content 2: Sexual content is permitted. References and writing about genitalia and sex acts are permitted, but explicit detail is not. Fade to black, or use the dotdotdot rule. (Let's keep it PG-13.)
Violence 2: Graphic violence is permitted. Explicit description or in-game narration violence is allowed.
Despite these ratings, keep in mind that there is a limit, and you should not cross it just to garner attention. Also, resorting to curse words is also like adding senseless fluff to your posts.

The Legacy |
Personality: To his allies, he'll show a large amount of camaraderie and love. To his enemies, it varies. If fighting a superhero only interested in protecting innocents, he'd sympathize and want to make him/her see his side and perhaps come to an understanding. If he/she is at all affiliated with the US government, however, the gloves are off. That applies to cops, feds, contractors, agents, and metahumans alike, all of which he sees as oppressive and in need of a serious ass kicking, if not death. Paul is undoubtedly a follower. While he has his goals, he recognizes that the best way to do it is to gain support from the big guys. Money, allies, favors, whatever he can get that will help him achieve his goals, he'll do. In addition, he'll do whatever it takes to survive a fight he cannot win, whether it be beg, lie, manipulate, or kill. He has strong love for his tribe, and will do anything to protect them. History: Paul was born on the Neski Indian reservation in Utah. He was surrounded on all sides by problems: loving yet alcoholic and unemployed parents, frequent violence from other kids, a broken education system ran by apathetic teachers and faculty, and a drug dealing, high-school drop out older brother. Ever since he was ten the desperation and melancholy of his tribe depressed him. He thought about leaving constantly, as he didn't want to succumb to the standard set by the rest of the tribe. He kept himself above the temptations that swallowed so many of his friends with the story of his lineage: His great grandfather was a tribe shaman, who allegedly called upon spirits of light to protect the Neskis from American expansion. Whether or not it was true, the tribe remained independent until 1917. He left the reservation the moment he turned 18, hitchhiking to Salt Lake City, where he started boxing. His speed and strength were recognized as above average, and he soon became a popular local brawler. He was content in this position for six years, living in a medium sized apartment, keeping himself fit, and venting his frustrations through his fists. Finally, in 2017, his parents sent him an email, asking him to come back to the reservation for a visit. Paul was hesitant, the reservation was nothing but sadness, alcoholism, and destroyed potential. He wasn't hoping to revisit that. He conceded anyway, as he was curious how his family was doing after all this time. In addition, Paul was able to finally learn the location of his great grandfather's resting place, which, for whatever reason, his family had kept from him. It was conveniently on the way to the reservation, in a small cemetery 20 miles into the Utah desert. Once he reached the grave, he felt light headed, and then completely disoriented. It felt as if he were looking at himself, but in the third person, like he was looking out of a mirror. The sun suddenly became blinding, and eventually his skin began to burn horribly, which usually never happened due to his skin tone, and he fell into a coma. The six months were a blur; it involved a lot of screaming, a lot of muffled voices from others, and a vision that always seemed to be blinding. Then, suddenly, one day, it stopped. Paul found himself lying in a bed, in a fully metal room, surrounded on all sides by mirrors. He had absolutely no semblance of how much time had passed. Hours? Days? Weeks? His benefactors, a private contract company under employ of the US government, informed him of the time and his situation: that he was a metahuman, whose body, while difficult to control, could manipulate light photons. The firm installed cybernetic implants into Paul's spinal cord and occipital lobe, which suppressed his manipulation tendencies. The company put him through three months of exhausting tests and trials in an attempt to both develop new innovations in photon weaponry and possibly use Paul himself as a government weapon. These three months made Paul incredibly resentful towards the American government. Spending millions of tax dollars to torture a US citizen so they could shoot light out of guns? What the hell, did they just run out of bullets? All the while, the slums of cities like Salt Lake, and reservations struggled to make it through. It became clear to Paul: The US was much more focused on control than it was on the welfare of it's subjects. Later that year, during the 2018 Attack on New York, the Security Firm planned to deploy Paul in order to combat the threat, describing him as a "Human Flashbang". A combat suit was created from the three months of observation, enabling him to control his powers. That was pretty damn stupid of them, don't you think? Yeah, he used his abilities to escape, and went into hiding. Lucking for him, the project wasn't yet revealed to the US government, and since the firm didn't want to admit to wasting a huge amount of taxpayer money on research, they instead focused on the photon weaponry aspect, citing amazing innovation created solely by their own researching staff. So, Paul didn't end up a target of the US. But the US did end up a target for Paul. The attack on New York was only the tip of the iceberg of the US government's screw ups. Their meddling into the affairs of metahumans when they could be truly helping their subjects had gone on long enough. The country would be brought down. And Paul, who now called himself "Flashbang", would make sure of it. |
The Powers and Weaknesses |
(All characters can be as powerful as they want, as long as they are balanced with proper weaknesses.) Powers Flashpoint: He speeds up the vibration of photons in a given area (inanimate), causing a point of blinding light that would force anyone without the ability to dim their own eyesight to avert their gaze or risk permanent damage. Mirror Vision: He uses light refraction to project his own eyesight out of his body, allowing him to see around corners and walls from afar (This doesn't allow him to see through walls or solid objects) Light Resistant: Since the coma, Paul's eyes have become immune to bright light and he can look at his own flashpoints and other abilities without trouble. Boxing Training: Not really a power, but he has training in boxing that makes it easier for him to take hits, dodge quick, and throw blows quicker than the average fellow. Flashbang Suit: His combat suit offers him a number of other bonuses. -Bulletproof: Invulnerable to small arms fire and resistant to normal SMG and shotgun rounds. Won't stop anything more powerful. -Night Vision: Self Explanatory. Can be toggled on and off. Shining Path: He shuts down the regulators in his cybernetic enhancements, causing his entire body to becoming blindingly bright, so as to create a large, moving, shooting, flashpoint. Weakness(es) Spine and Neck: Both areas are incredibly vulnerable, after suffering even moderate trauma they could damage Flashbang's manipulation regulators, which would cause his Shining Path to activate, only he wouldn't be able to control it. His skin would shine incredibly bright, and after a few minutes of agonizing, he would fall unconscious. Mirror Vision-Disorientation: While using Mirror Vision, Flashbang must stay perfectly still or risk becoming incredibly disorientated. This leaves him vulnerable to attack. Dark: Paul's natural low light vision has suffered as a result of his metagene. Without his suit's night-vision, he'd be wandering around cluelessly. Shining Path: Flashbang's body can't sustain Shining Path for very long: five minutes every day. During this phase, all of his other powers become useless, and if he goes over the five minute mark, he will collapse. Flashpoint Suit: If sustaining heavy damage, it will render all of Flashbang's abilities, except Shining Path, useless. RP Mechanics RP Mechanic(s): Items/Minions -Flashbang Combat Suit -Pump Action Shotgun(and sling) -Tomahawk Physical Priority (You are to put these physical attributes in order from 1 to 4. 1 is the highest priority, 4 is the lowest.) 1.
