The Looks

Lavender is largely unremarkable in appearance, perhaps with the exception of her unusually short hair. She rarely leaves an impression and she has the sort of nondescript features that tend to result in contradictory eyewitness testimony if anyone does see her. She usually wears extremely comfortable clothing and rarely concerns herself with actual appearance because what people will usually be seeing is:

Fiona *appears* to have long, flowing, fiery red hair that always seems to be drifting in the perfect breeze. A nigh-omnipresent wide smile. Her facial features are just a little too perfect—she knows she ought to have some small flaw but never decided on one. A classy silken dress in emerald-green flows around her, a green cape lined with forest-green lace around the edges hanging from her shoulders. Her green heels shine with all the grandeur of Dorothy’s ruby slippers. Of course, she is not actually wearing any of these things, which is why the hair and cape don’t get in her way, the dress does not restrict her range of movement, and she can run flat-out in the heels without worrying about twisting an ankle.

I could add a picture… probably that would involve a google search until I found Felicia Day or Nicole Kidman or *someone* in a green dress. *shrug*

The Legacy

Personality:
Fiona is bright and witty, eyes frequently gleaming. She is confident and willful as any utilizer of magic must be. There is a bounce in her step. She wants to believe that she is happy and upbeat and eternally positive and on a good day she even fools herself. She knows that there is so much darkness in this world that she simply cannot eliminate. She knows that there is cruelty and hunger divisiveness far beyond her ability to make an impact. And loathe as she is to show it, that weighs on her.

History:
Lavender Magenta Greene was born in a small town in Northern California, surrounded by redwoods and awash in the smells of eucalyptus and pine to two loving parents without the common sense to give their child three colors as a name. She grew up shy and quiet, avoiding eye contact and keeping largely to herself. It was largely academics that got her the full-ride scholarship to Humboldt. With extensive help from her roommate and new friends, Lavender began to come out of her shell, getting involved with extra-curricular activities. She also discovered an ancient tome in the college library that it took her nearly two years to realize nobody else could see. She learned. She learned about the mystical connections that nobody truly understands. She learned about accessing magical energies. At least, she assumes that the powers she began to manifest were mystic in nature and evidence has thus far re-enforced rather than refuting the assumption.
After college, she started life anew, initially wandering. As part of the re-creation process, she focused her persona more on her Scotts-Irish roots. She quickly learned that she was not alone in this strange world of the mystical. Far too many were more powerful than her and far too willing to harm and destroy. In time, she built a reputation, using illusions to appear to be accessing far more powerful spells and channeling far more powerful magical energy than she would ever be capable of. In time, she found that her itinerancy left her too vulnerable and she acquired a far more defensible residence near Houston, Texas. And before I type up too much more I should probably actually learn something about the realities and background of this gameworld. (Insert smiley here.)

The Powers and Weaknesses

Powers (Theme is magical control of biology & illusions)

Power 1: Body Control
Fiona can alter her body in the very short term, for example channeling her own adrenaline and muscle structure to summon the strength to move rubble or ram a stake through a vampire’s ribcage; or a membrane to glide/parachute down from a height; or growing a claw to scratch glass.

Power 2: Health Control
Her go-to manifestation of body control. She can heal damage to herself or others. While both her body control and an ability to inflict damage are *theoretically* applicable to others, the human body tends to reject interference—healing works better because it is working with rather than against the body’s natural inclinations.

Power 3: Illusion
Fiona can create illusions. This is how she maintains the more glamourous heroic appearance. It is also how she has simulated far more powerful effects & built her reputation. It should be noted that while her illusions can include the sensation of touch, they can not actually be used to move objects. That would be telekinesis.

Weakness(es)

Weakness 1: Enervation backlash
It can be postponed in the moment, but body alteration can leave you with a heck of a mystic hangover. The body was not meant to house mystic energy. It was not meant to flow and change and while effects of the moment can be impressive, there is always a cost. Sometimes it is weakness, sometimes it is intense pain. But it will be paid, and knowing this can sometimes make Fiona hesitate to use it in the split-second timing of conflict.

Weakness 2: Compassion
Fiona really dislikes harming others. Or allowing others to come to harm. This has the potential to make her far more predictable, far more manipulable, and rather more limited in options than she would otherwise be.
“We as human beings have the most amazing abilities. The one that never ceases to amaze me is our ability not to care. To define people as ‘us’ and ‘them’ and conveniently ignore the suffering of and even harm those we have designated ‘them’. It’s a survival skill, I guess. Some traitorous stain of the evolutionary process holding us back from… well to speculate precisely what it is holding us back from is more theological than I care to get at present. But the best of us, the most compassionate, the gentlest still have this ability to know that children on the other side of the world are starving to death and then go to sleep that night without a care in the world. But once I see the eyes, I just can’t do it anymore. When I see that pain and suffering reflected it just becomes impossible to maintain the pretense that they are just some ‘other’, that they are somebody else’s problem.”--Fiona

Magic is addictive.
