How do you plea? (Apex)

This night had not been the greatest for Jake. He had gotten drunk, got himself arrested, teleported from one city to another, and now had the mother of all head aches. With all that he would be questioned by these agent guys about his parents murder. It was all very nerve racking, but he was confident he could clear his name if nothing else. The agent or whatever he was that had brought him in was nice enough not to put cuffs on him, he seemed like a good guy. That, however, couldn't be said about some of the others.

As he was escorted through the New York facility claps and cheers could be heard, evidently Jake had caused these people quite a bit of grief trying to catch him. Most of them probably thought he killed his parents, so he couldn't really blame them for the looks he was getting. As he was walked down the hall to presumably the holding room he saw a familiar face approach from around a corner. It was that agent guy from Chicago, the one that had been quite a bit more rough then Sean. Jake got a worried look on his face upon seeing him, he hoped Sean would keep his word about protecting him.

"Good work as always Apex. This little guy caused me quite a few problems when i tried to bring him in." Agent Daniels said as he relieved the boy from Sean, continuing to escort him to the questioning room. In moments they arrived outside one of those rooms with nothing but a table and chairs like in the cop shows. After quite the number of locks the door to it finally opened, Jack, Daniels, and presumably Sean would then walk in.

"Have a seat kid." Daniels said quite firmly motioning toward one of the chairs. Jake listened of course, sitting himself down with the same worried expression as before on his face. "I-I didn't do it." Jake said, still not completely sober but coherent. Michael believed him yes, but no one else did and there was no other suspects. If this kid didn't do it, then who the hell did?

"I know. But i have to tell you, it doesn't look very good. We have to send a sample of your blood back to the lab to see what your powers are. If energy projection of any kind shows up, i don't know what i can do for you." Michael said sincerely. Of course, Jake didn't have energy projection, so he was quite relived. As soon as they saw that, he would be cleared or so it seemed.

"I don't have that.....I don't know what happened to them but i had nothing to do with it, just, take your test or whatever. You'll see." Jake said adjusting, trying to get comfortable on the metal chair. With that Daniels took a blood sample and left the room, it would take a few minutes to verify what Jake's powers were but for the most part this looked like it would be an open an shut thing, he wouldn't have to run anymore.

So he had actually detained a target without even needing to fight, which Sean found to be a first considering the usual. Typically they didn’t send him after kids but this must have been an exception, though maybe they were considering him more now for these kind of missions. Not that Sean would complain, that saved those poor young metas a lot of pain in the end. So with the day of work done he had to bring the kid back to the nearest base, making sure to keep his side of the agreement as much as possible, because as well resourced as the agency was, he had a way of making them listen. As he brought the kid through the facility, there was the sound of clapping and cheering, Sean shooting them a slight glare. He was a damn kid, not one of those hardened guys that The Agency should’ve been worried about.

”Goddamn gawkers.” Sean growled with a frown, keeping only a few steps behind the taller but younger male. Walking down the hall, a familiar face would appear, the agent that had tried to capture the kid last time. Whatever he tried, well it seemed that their methods were less than effective when it came to capture. ”Geee, I wonder why.” Sean posed the sarcastic question, though he had a feeling the guy already knew why he had a few problems. Not that he would beat him over the head with it, that would’ve been counterproductive. With the kid relieved from his custody, normally this was the time Sean went off to do his own thing. That wasn’t what he did this time, instead he would choose to look over the questioning, standing behind one of those one way glass things. He could see everything going on, but no one could see him from the other side.

Already this Jake kid was quick to state he didn’t do it, but anyone with half a brain could see that the kid didn’t have the balls to kill anyone; let alone his parents. So began the questioning process, it seemed they were actually considering that he did not even have the means to do the damage that had been done to his parents corpses, if he remembered the photos correctly. Unless technopathy suddenly began to do that, then he had no idea about anything anymore. ”I really need a drink.” Sean muttered to himself with arms crossed over his chest while he continued to watch with half interest. He was then made painfully aware of someone else watching the proceedings with half interest, one of those science guys that The Agency had brought into their employ. However, he looked way too young to be working for a group like this, around eighteen or so.

Sean would’ve said something, but they had this intense look about them that made him just try to ignore him. It took him a moment, but he had actually seen that guy in a movie somewhere, probably one of those rom coms that he occasionally found worth watching. Soon enough it seemed they would do a test that would let them tell the scope of his powers, a scary thought but something that also had it’s uses. Likely it had been around before Zell joined up with them, but he was sure they gained a lot from Gene-Techs golden boy. Just thinking about him brought a small smile to Sean’s lips. It was then that his phone vibrated and it was who he was thinking of. ”Is he omniversal and a goddamn psychic?” Sean thought to himself amused at the prospect before replying rather quickly.

Once Daniels walked out the door, Sean sort of materialized, though that was more explained with speed than anything else. ”So someone actually thinks the kid didn’t do it? And here I was thinking everyone here was stupid.”

Michael was surprised to see Apex appear out of nowhere, but he showed no real signs of it. He had been around enough speedsters and teleporters to expect it at this point. Michael chuckled at the comment, in reality some of the finest minds in the world were in this facility yet he called them stupid. Funny, but at times Michael would have to agree.

"From the first time i saw the kid i knew he didn't, but still, its good we have him here. Regardless of his innocence someone with his capabilities needs a shackle. There's no telling what he could do to the country and potentially the world left unmonitored...... Anyway, I'll be back shortly." Daniels said walking around Sean and to one of the science nuts that just so happened to be in the room. It was convenient as he wouldn't have to walk down to the lab and test it himself. Having all these guys around definitely allowed you to bypass the boring stuff, especelly when you could order them around.

"Put this through the scanner for me real quick, lets get this kid out of here." Daniels said handing the male the blood sample he had just taken. Hopefully that would be taken care of in a timely manner, if he remembered correctly this particular lab rat was quite quick in his work. Michael then left the room for a few short moments, leaving Jake in the questioning room with a concerned look on his face. Jake was still worried yes, but now he just seemed tense in contrast to how he looked before. He just wanted to get this over with, yet he didn't know what he would do after that. He had no where to go, he was a minor, and he had these crappy powers that kept fucking with him. Granted he had plenty of cash to go live on, but with no one else a confused and somewhat alcoholic teenager didn't seem fit to even use it properly. Daniels returned with what looked almost like a necklace, just more.....sleek and techno.

"......Whats that? You guys bought me jewelry? I'm flattered." Jake said with the first smile he had shown in weeks. His sarcastic and laid back personality seemed to be coming back to him, but it would be a while before he would be the person he once was.

"No.......its a tracker of sorts.....with a few other features. I can't let you go knowing what you can do without one of these." Michael said with some amount of sympathy in his mostly stern voice. These were the meta humans he truly wanted to leave alone, but protocol was protocol. Michael then walked over to Jake and the collar like device clasped itself on. It wasn't fully active like the more violent superhumans shackles were, but with this kid that was hardly needed. Jake really didn't have time to object before it was placed on him, and even if he did, what would he say. He wasn't exactly in a position to deny it.

".....Alright, i have your damn tracker on now, when can i leave?" Jake asked with a bit of irritation in his demeanor. That was the question, and depending on what the return was on the sample he could be there for a few minutes or a lot longer.

"Just be patient kid, most of those people out there think you killed your parents. Until they see something definitive i can't let you go despite the fact i don't think you could kill a cat if you wanted too." Daniels said with a chuckle which calmed the atmosphere of the room. Now all they needed to do was wait.
