You should never drink underage (Apex)
Jake had just had a very confusing encounter with an agent of sorts, one that planned on taking him back to some headquarters. But that wasn't the most confusing and concerning part, he said Jake was under arrest for the murder of his parents. As far as he knew they were alive when he left home......if the man was correct in the fact they were dead, he was being framed for the murder of his loved ones. He refused to believe it until he saw the bodies, but one thing was for certain, someone had it out for him. He searched the internet with his mind for hours, finding all kinds of news stories regarding the incident. Headlines claiming he had something wrong with him and that he snapped, this was unreal.
He ended up finding the crime scene photos of the bodies.......they were horrible, as soon as he saw it he dropped to the ground in hysterics. Tears poured from his face as he sobbed up against the wall of an ally. He thought about turning himself in, but he would have to admit to killing his family, he could never do that. They were making him out to be a monster, whoever they were.
Finally he got up from the dirty ground, brushing himself off and wiping his face. He had stopped crying, but he was far from alright. He looked horrible, almost sick. He wanted to block it all out and rest, but he couldn't even begin to stop thinking of it. It was late at night, and raining. He was soaked from head to toe. He knew he should get a hotel, but that would likely get him caught. Though he had slept on his house roof before, it wasn't all that bad.
He got an idea, one most would think was not a very good one. He saw a liquor store across the street, he hesitated for a second but decided to go to it. Despite his age, he was quite the drinker. He had stopped a few mouths ago because he nearly died of alcohol poisoning, but this was a better time then any to start again. He pulled his soaking wet hoodie over his head before walking inside, the doors bell ringing as he did. This drew the attention of the clerk, who was in the back. He walked out and to his surprise found Jake standing in his store. He was clearly underage, so he gave him a warning.
"Get out of here kid, you look about 12." He said with a faint chuckle, gesturing toward the door. Jake looked at him with a blank stare, ignoring his words as he turned around grabbing two bottles of whiskey. The clerk naturally ran around the counter trying to stop him, but Jake had already disappeared. He rode phone signals out of the store, across the street, and onto an apartment roof. The clerk had no idea what happened, but merely went back to business as he could really do nothing. Jake stood on the building, looking at his loot. He propped himself up on the roofs ledge, opening the first bottle and taking a long swig.

Re: You should never drink underage (Apex)
Agency work, Sean never really got a lot of it, but the amount that he did always had its perks. These perks mostly involved the chance to kick some major ass,, and man did he enjoy kicking that ass, or something along those lines anyway. However, this time it seemed like less of an ass kicking mission, not that Sean minded really, it was something to do outside of his otherwise dull existence. Zell and the other peeps within his family were always busy, and yet hr was not, which felt wrong on so many levels, so this was an excuse not to sit at home in his boxers and play video games all day. Okay, now he felt as if he were missing out on something, not a good thing at all.
Anyway, the person he was looking for had one of those weird subject names, as if they weren't people but some kind of weird subjects. While he got a cool agent name, or so Sean liked to believe, he never really listened to the stuff suited bastards, aside from “Beat this guy up and bring him here.” Well, he did listen to that one Williams guy, but that was because the guy was as intimidating as hell, even though he didn't look like too much. Not that Sean looked like much to begin with, since he was like really short or something along those lines.
Now this post is getting sidetracked, when he should be chasing that one subject kid....wait...he's going after a kid? Sometimes, he just questioned the whole rightness of this thing, but then again he only did what he was ordered, didn't want them suddenly coming after him. Either way, his destination was Chicago, where the kid was last sighted from The Agencies vast network of informants, or however they learned stuff, so that was where Apex went. So now Sean had to search the city for the kid, not the best way to spend a night, but that was how it was.
Walking along the sidewalk dressed in usual fashion, Sean buried his hands into his jacket pockets while looking over everyone he walked past in the most discrete manner possible. He might have to be a little careful though, since this kid had killed his parents or something like that. It took a long while, but he finally caught sight of someone that looked like they were his target, had the basic look of them anyway, though the look reminded him too much of himself in his younger years. ”Well now, isn't this a trip.” He noted silently with a smirk, doing the whole stealthy thing he was supposed to do. Not let them know he had power until it was too late. Now this was why he loved these little xeno-whatevers that Zell had put into him, so much utility it wasn't even funny.
The kid had walked into a liquor store of all places, so Sean naturally followed, though unlike the kid he did not get any sort of warning, so he would browse the wares while still doing his duty. What he ended up picking out was one of those fancy liqueurs that he had tested out not only a week ago, tasted really sweet in a strange way, so he sort of stuck with it. It still got the job done, so not like he was going to complain either way. Yet when he kid seemed to say screw it and pick up two of the bottles, he disappeared before the clerk could do anything.
So The Agency at least had an idea on his powers, which meant he could follow his trail from there. If it was some manner of technological teleport, then he would have to think of where the kid would go, because he had to have some kind of exit point. Digging his wallet from his pocket, Sean would pay for his booze first, before getting to business. Out of whatever goodness he had, Sean paid for the two stolen bottles, before leaving the store with his drink, now trying to find a certain metahuman. Already he had examined the store for some manner of wire, and from there he would have to search for where it could lead.
If the kid wanted to get out of there, it was likely he would try to get to a place where he would be impossible to find right of, and only one thing really stuck with him. This search would lead him to looking at the roof of an apartment building, or rather trying to climb to it, not the most entertaining experience, but he managed. ”It's a little high up here, especially if you plan to get plastered up here.”Sean noted, his bag slung over his shoulder almost haphazardly, while he considered the metahuman.

Re: You should never drink underage (Apex)
Jake sat taking gulp after gulp of the harsh liquid, and he was already feeling its effects. He likely had a real alcohol problem, though that was the least of his concerns at the moment. He felt the numbness wash over him as he drank, the feelings of grief for his parents swiftly being buried by his drunkenness.
The rain poured down even harder, turning his already wet clothes into heaps of heavy soaked cotton. The sky was pitch black, the only form of light on the roof was a distant lamp on the opposite ledge of the building. He nearly zoned out completely, but the voice of someone a bit older then him caught his attention. The light barely gave Jake an outline of the male, but he knew despite his height he was likely in his mid twenties. He said something about being high up, and made a comment about getting plastered. He considered the mans actions, what could he want?
"Um...well, ivv....i've never been afraid of heights." He said half drunk as he struggled to pull himself to his feet. He managed to get himself propped up on some kind of air conditioning unit nearby. He was obviously pretty drunk at this point, which was surprising considering he just got the bottles of booze not three or four minutes ago. He stumbled slightly with every move he made, yet one could see he was trying to hide it.
Once he propped himself up on the unit he let out a loud involuntary laugh, even he didn't know exactly why, but it probably had something to do with the males shortness. He took another swig of the whiskey in his hand, holding the other unopened bottle in his soaked hoodie front pocket.
"So...whadda want?" Jake said slightly slurring his words, his mind pretty unclear as to what exactly was happening.

Re: You should never drink underage (Apex)
”And now its raining, brilliant.” Sean muttered under his breath, pulling his hood up while still considering the likely now half drunk male before him. His hood would get wet, but at least he wouldn't get as drenched as he normally would, granted if he truly did not want to the XENOGENS would happily fix that for him. Getting wet aside, it seemed he was dealing with a drunk metahuman, which hopefully meant he would not have to work too hard to get him to come with him without any violence. Their first words to him was about never being afraid of heights, though Sean didn't really care about the whole fear of heights thing, rather the thing that happened when he hit the concrete. Afterall, he looked like a kid, barely younger than Mike in fact and them dying would do his conscience no favors.
”Well kid, its not the heights that you should be scared of, but the sudden drop afterwards.” Sean noted with a sly smirk, removing his own drink from the bag and unscrewing the strangely shaped cap. ”You might find getting drunk a lot.....less fatal on the ground.” He suggested, wanting to get himself and this kid off the the roof before anything bad happened, as he wa unsure if the kid had any other powers he may have hidden until this point. Then the kid got to the point and asked him what he wanted, which would make things easier. ”Well, i'm actually here to help you. If you're willing to accept help that is. If not, well then it might end up disasterous for someone in the long run, much worse than falling drunk off a roof anyway.”

Re: You should never drink underage (Apex)
Jake could hear the male say some more stuff about heights and falling or whatever, but it was mostly ignored. He listened as much as any drunk person could to the last part of what he said, which was something about helping him. Jake had heard enough of that for a life time, people always trying to 'Help'. Usually that either meant they wanted to give him meds, or they wanted to take him somewhere. All Jake wanted to do right now was listen to music and get drunk, and this guy was sort of interrupting that. Normally he probably would have ran off as this person was suspicious, but alcohol tended to make him trusting and less reactionary.
"Help? Hahaha, well, maybe you can give me the details while i finish this drink." The boy said in a mixed tone holding up what he called a 'drink' but was actually the better part of a bottle. He ended up slightly slipping on the wet concrete, though he did quite successfully make it look as if he was merely sitting down up against the air conditioner. A few seconds of awkward silence filled the air before Jake finally broke it.
"Your with those people aren't you?" Jake said simply, almost sad and much quieter then before. He knew that if this guy was indeed involved with the agent guy from before he would know exactly what he was talking about, though if he wasn't it would probably sound like drunk ramblings.

Re: You should never drink underage (Apex)
Was there any point trying to talk sense into this kid? That was something that Sean found himself wondering while looking him over, as drunk as he was. He was wondering how effective their powers would be intoxicated, should they attempt to run, as he would have been expected to chase if they did run. At the moment, he hadn't touched his alcohol, though something told Sean that he wouldn't be able to. ”Depends on what you mean with those people.” Sean answered with a raised brow, considering what he would say next. So many answer he could offer at this point, but then again he had to say something.
”We talking pretty serious guys with black suits, and act like they have sticks up their butts? Because if that's the case....you could say i'm loosely affiliated with them.” He admitted with a shrug. ”I'm not going to force you to go with me, but someone else might do just that. You could save yourself a lot of trouble and pain by coming with me. I am here to help, whether you want to believe that or not.”

Re: You should never drink underage (Apex)
Well, Jake had his answer, yet he didn't run. The man he was talking to kept his cool, so that was likely the reason. Jake did act less skittish intoxicated though. He knew he would need to get away from this guy eventually or go with him. However this was an opportunity, he hadn't got the chance to talk with one of these people yet. Maybe he could actually get some answers.
"I didn't kill anyone." Jake said simply. He knew that it wouldn't convince the man he was innocent, but he felt the need to claim his non guilt.
"Especially not my parents." He added with a few tears building up in his eyes. The guy was trying to play good cop, Jake could see that. But what happened when he went with him? He would probably go to jail, or worse. He couldn't do that, no matter how much the male sugar coated it. He took a few more swigs from his bottle, eying the man as he did. At this point he was totally shit faced.

Re: You should never drink underage (Apex)
Okay, so things seemed to be going well, there was no running going on so that was all good. Now came what may be the hard part of this whole thing, whatever this thing was anyway. ”I believe you. You don''t look like the type to kill anyone.” Sean said not sounding unsympathetic, slowly making his way over to the edge of the building and sitting there. ”I bet they didn't even ask anything. They never ask, they just sort of jump in and go come with me now. Sean said, the last portion in a sarcastic tone. ”bunch of self righteous assholes.” Grumbling, Sean removed his drink from his plastic bag, uncapping it and taking a rather sizable swig.
”So, why don't you sit with me and we can...talk.” Sean noted patting the space of roof beside him. "Tell me your side of the story and all that."

Re: You should never drink underage (Apex)
Jake listened to what the man was saying, he didn't seem to care to much for the people he claimed to be loosely affiliated with. The man asked to sit and talk, which was sort of what they were already doing. Maybe he just wanted Jake to talk, considering he had said very little this whole time.
"My side....." Jake said slightly slurring his words. He moved a bit closer to the man after taking another gulp of the harsh drink in his bottle.
"Well, i don't know where to begin...... I got these powers one night, or maybe i always had them, but they showed up this one night. My parents freaked out, they called some people insisting they wanted to 'help' me. It wasn't like anything changed, i was still their son yet they looked like they didn't want to touch me with a ten foot pole......Being the way i am, i ran. Or, whatever it is i do when i disappear. I left and next thing ya know some dude is arresting me for my parents murder. I'm just......i'm just scared ok. Terrified of myself and what will happen if i come with you or any other agent guy trying to 'help' me. I don't know what happened to my parents, i wish i did. I don't know who could have done it, but i assumed the agents or whatever they are chasing me did it." Jake said with a drunk tone to his voice. He slurred every third word or so and looked like he was about to pass out. He didn't care though, it was the first time he had relaxed in weeks. To him nothing else mattered right now other then the bottle in his hand and the night sky.

Re: You should never drink underage (Apex)
Everyone had a story, their own side of things, and so he had to be sure that he was getting all of the info, rather than what The Agency wanted him to know. So far this kid seemed scared more than anything, which he could not blame him considering that they had sent an armed agent after him before. His story was one many metahumans told, especially with parents that didn't want their children to end up as metahumans. One minutes they were fine with them, but the moment they had powers that was it really. Part of Sean wondered what it would be like if a family of metahumans ended up having a single human child. Would the scenario have been reversed?
True enough, he was born in a family that practiced magic, so he knew partially how that felt. Being an outsider, or rather feeling like one in a family that you were nothing like. ”If you come with me, nothing bad's going to happen. I sure as hell am not going to let it happen.” Sean stated rather simply, taking a swig of his drink and drawing his knees to his chest. ”I don't believe you killed your parents, you don't seem like the kind of person capable of hurting anyone, like someone I know actually.” Silus came to mind, and then the question of how he managed to make someone so pure was beyond him. ” I just want to save you the trouble of having to deal with what they might send next.” He was sincere in what he said, that much someone could ascertain from his speech.
”I won't force you to do anything you don't want to do. If you do come with me, I could help you learn to control your powers, maybe even find out what really happened to your parents. I can't make any decisions for you, it's all up to you.” Alot of pressure to be sure but the was trying to be the good guy, so here he was.

Re: You should never drink underage (Apex)
A big decision dropped on Jake's shoulders. The fact that he was barely coherent was most definitely influencing his choice in the matter. It was difficult for a sober person to think about let alone someone as drunk as Jake. Should he go with the man and potentially be thrown in a cage, or run and deal with whatever they threw at him next? Tough as it was he knew what he had to do. To get any answers he had to take a leap of faith.
"...Alright.....I'll come with you. Just, no cuffs or anything..." He said quietly. He hoped it his choice wouldn't come back to bite him in the ass, but he did trust the mans words. People would most likely just point fingers for the first few days in custody, but he hoped he would be able to make them believe him like he did with this man. He stood up as best he could, but failed before he even got to a crouching position. All that liquor had caught up with him, he could never really drink a lot without getting plastered because he was so damn skinny. It was clear this kid would need some help.

Re: You should never drink underage (Apex)
It seemed like he had an easier time than he had thought to get the kid to cooperate. All he had to do was talk to him, rather than whatever it was that the agent guy before him had done. ”So long as you don't try to run away, I won't have to use any cuffs.” Sean stated with a nod taking another drink from his bottle, letting the sweet taste flow over his tongue. Fluidly standing to his feet, Sean took notice of the male trying to stand up and failing, offering his hands in case the guy needed some help. ”Woah there, you're way too drunk to be walking around without any help.” He said not unkindly, offering to help him with the whole walking thing.

Re: You should never drink underage (Apex)
Grabbing the offered hand Jake pulled himself to his feet, leaving the mostly empty bottle behind. He was using the shorter male as a sort of walker at this point. He had figured that because of his stature the man wouldn't do to well in the whole support thing, however he seemed to be completely rooted to the ground like a rock. This dude was strong for a little guy.
"Well...you'll be happy to know that even if i wanted to....i couldn't run very far." He said jokingly with a drunk grin on his face.
(I think that sums it up. Nice thread.)
