Sexual Content 2: Sexual content is permitted. References and writing about genitalia and sex acts are permitted, but explicit detail is not. Fade to black, or use the dotdotdot rule. (Let's keep it PG-13.)
Violence 2: Graphic violence is permitted. Explicit description or in-game narration violence is allowed.
Despite these ratings, keep in mind that there is a limit, and you should not cross it just to garner attention. Also, resorting to curse words is also like adding senseless fluff to your posts.

The Legacy |
Personality: When he was Nolan Shepard, Paradox was a strong willed, courageous man. He was first to volunteer for a dangerous mission, and looked at the risks with a grin on his face. He held so much pride of who he was, and what he was doing for his planet that his own life wasn't the most precious to him. After the death of Nolan Shepard, and the birth of Paradox, his personality was roughly unchanged. It took eons of watching and learning for the guardian to become an enlightened entity of neutrality. Human emotion is now beneath him, he is beyond it. History: Nolan Shepard was born in Kentucky sometime in the future. Despite living on a farm, Nolan always had a fascination with space that couldn't be suppressed. His fascination distracted him from his daily farm life enough to where he was sent to a private school because his father didn't want any idle hands. While at his new home he excelled in school, science specifically. Nolan made the Dean's List every year and graduated at the top of his class, which gave him a scholarship to a prestigious university where he majored in Astrological Physics. After college he applied his skills in NASA, finally becoming an Astronaut. One year, when Nolan was twenty-five years old, NASA discovered an anomaly forming a few light-years away from their cozy little solar system. After closer inspection the anomaly was speculated to be a newly formed massive black hole, one that formed without the death of a White Giant star. This anomaly baffled scientists across the globe and Project Horizon was formed. After years of research and technological development the first ever "Warp Engine" was created, a machine designed to travel faster than the speed of light, by warping space around the object. Because radio communication at those distances was unthinkable a probe would be unable to complete the mission, it would have to be a manned flight. Nolan was the first to volunteer for this mission, wanting to place his name in the history books. He was thirty years old when he sat in the pilot seat of the Horizon Spacecraft given a month's worth of oxygen, food, and water and a offer of good luck. The only time Nolan felt nervous about his journey was when the craft began to take off, the whole machine shook violently and he felt as if it would explode before he even left the ground. His anxiety left him when the take off was successful. The Horizon detached from the launch module and began its slow journey to the other side of the moon. When clear of any terrestrial objects, Nolan activated the Warp Drive and the ship began to rock again. Light seemed to bend in all directions, he could even see the Earth behind him when looking ahead. Then it all went white. Within the first hour the white would fade revealing alien stars. Nolan looked behind him and the planet he called home was long gone. Ahead was a massive black hole, churning and consuming all that comes close. The Astronaut began his approach towards the anomaly, preparing to fire research probes at its surface. As he was preparing the probes his ship began to rock violently once more, and he noticed the black hole was coming closer. NASA miscalculated the orbital distance, the Horizon was caught in the black hole’s gravity well. Nolan went into a state of panic as he tried to escape the pull on his ship. His tries were all in vain, the ship was consumed by darkness as it passed the event horizon. Nolan seemingly given up as his ship was about to get ripped apart by the molecular level by the infinite density of the black hole. But Nolan never gives up. In one final attempt of escape, the Astronaut activated the ship’s warp drive, within the black hole’s interior. The impact of this caused a singularity, hurling the Horizon and its pilot not through time, or space, but somewhere outside. The darkness of the black hole retreated, as time and space itself seemed to open up in the third dimensional space. Present, past, and future to Nolan became a long hallway in either direction. His craft fell down this hallway, and on the walls Nolan could see himself making the journey to the Black Hole, except in reverse. He was hurtling backward in time, at an extremely accelerating rate. Nolan saw the unbirth of planets, stars, galaxies, the universe was moving back to its time of infancy. All matter came close to gether, Nolan included. The radiation and energy was massive, the image of all energy in the universe in one place destroyed his eyes, and eventually his body. All the particles that once made up Nolan Shepard were deconstructed as with all matter into the universe, forced into one tiny space, and then… nothing. Blackness, empty space. Then there was a Big Bang… The Universe started once again in one chaotic explosion, throwing everything that would ever exist out in all directions, and in the center was Nolan. Not Nolan specifically, his unbodied consciousness. The Astronaut was beyond confused, he knew he existed and yet he could not find himself, he had no body. His first use of his new power was to create.. well.. himself. Out of the raw energy that surrounded his consciousness, a construct was formed, humanoid in appearance. He could not create flesh, or clothing, as those require living material to create, though he next created a suit of armor for himself using the metals that form around him. Nolan found himself the only sentient being in the universe, and all he could do is watch it grow. For billions of years Nolan watched over the universe, gaining limitless knowledge from what he observed. His name became a distant memory as he took to calling himself “Paradox” in reference to his connection to the universe. Finally, as the universe begins to settle down, he finds Earth, his old home. He found himself interested in the “metahumans” that have developed on its surface, keeping a close eye on them as he perceives them as a possible threat to the Universe. |
