Cold snap [invite only]

The rain came down in buckets, cascading down upon the city of Los Angeles and Ryan watched it with a hood pulled over his head. Looking down to his right hand, a small amount of mist would radiate from the fingertips, spiraling and dancing into the air before fading away. The only thing keeping him out of the falling rain was standing under a jutting portion of a building, keeping a hood pulled over his head as he looked out from under it. It seemed only a while ago since he ha found himself a home, and already he was out, another time that his powers were dangerous. Holding a hand out from the cover, a few droplets would hit the flesh, and nearly instantly would freeze, forming small crystals of ice upon his palm. Pulling the hand back, he would brush away the ice and let it shatter upon the ground into crystalline dust.

A small frown found its way upon his lips as he considered the phenomenon, or rather how his power seemed to be going even more out of control. A small amount of mist emanated from between his lips as he exhaled, and crossed his arms over his chest, feeling the fabric of his jacket begin to ice over and quickly removing the hands from it, trying to keep them away from touching anything. Meant he couldn't be around so many people, because that would likely lead to a large amount of trouble and probably those weirdos who had something against metahumans. Stepping out from the small alcove, he would walk along the sidewalk, making sure to avoid contact with any one, even going out of his way to keep some manner of distance from people. Perhaps trying too hard, as some would give the young male confused looks and others just looked suspicious.

Not that he would blame them if he noticed it, as he was what one called a ticking time bomb. If he stayed around people, they would likely die and he did not want that, especially not for someone that had taken him into their home so willingly. Not that he was willing to leave, but it was for the best in his mind. So now he was once again wandering about, this time he was in Los Angeles of all places, but then again he was not really aware of that small thing. Still, he could feel the chill washing over him and had become accustomed to the sign that showed his powers beginning to go out of control once again. A cold tingle that originated from the small of his back and rose upwards, filling his chest and just overall feeling rather cold. It ended with a cold pain that ran through his skull, causing him to suck in a breath and grind his teeth together.

This required him getting further and further away from the people of the city, slipping into an alleyway and before he knew it, he was slamming shoulder first against a wall. Upon contact with the brick, ice would being to spread out from that point and create a thick coating along the wall, as well as the ground a she slid down against it. It was happening again, and this lack of control was happening with a greater frequency, Ryan drawing his knees to his chest and curling into a ball as the ice would begin to coat the limited area.

Silus did what he always did when he wanted to find Ryan. Follow the damn rain, sleet or snow. Well actually it was Yancey doing it right now. He owed Silus a lot, and he had nothing else left he could do but this. He had to bring Ryan back. Ever since Ryan had been wandering and moving about Silus has been getting increasingly worried about him. The only nights Silus slept in peace were rainy nights. It didn't take Yancey long to figure out why. The homeless hydrokinetic kid they saved made it rain, and when it rained that was sort of Silus' way of knowing he was alive. Yancey wasn't always this bright but he was pretty sure rain was a part of the cycle...just as Death was. Of course when Yancey said that it made Silus sad. Thus now Yancey was on the path to finding the hydrokinetic, regardless of how he felt about things.

Yancey maneuvered around began to feel a chill. That was a good thing, yet not at all. It means that it was cold, but it could ALSO mean that water boy was around. Where the water boy went, Yancey was sure to follow. He started to wonder where in the name of Silus this kid was. Seriously talk about not wanting to be found. He literally tried EVERYHING. He tried to follow a scent, but now that he's not a homeless piece of meat he didn't exactly have an over-powering odor. He followed people who had seen him and he followed clues and finally he resorted to his tracking skills. He maneuvered his way through the city and growled as he came across several attractions that seemed to be less than favorable...damn stray cats! Yancey tried to reason what he had been told from Silus, what Silus may have known about this kid not being around. Truth was Silus hadn't seen him in a while, regardless if he had "been around" or not he wasn't someone that Silus had seen. The Alai's weren't home so they were about as useful as their leather-less and legless couch.

Yancey remained silent as he found himself looking down an alleyway, he ran down it and then...there was nothing there. It was just a series of other alleyways. "Darn it! DELUGE!" Yancey yelled as he held a hand out and with pure concentrated light he imbued a trashcan and dematerialized it in a force of heat. He growled as he looked around, listening, smelling and looking for any sign of the male.

Ice and cold, two things typically synonymous with one another. As cold always seemed to come with ice, yet ice did not always come with the cold, so it was more of a one sided relationship really, but then again he was not known for his contemplations of the relations between ice and cold. More and more the ice would spread like a plague, creating sharp spikes that rose from planes of ice that were forming over the street as well as slowly closing up the entrance of the alleyway he was now in, which would deter most but that did not seem to bother Ryan as much as it should. A small almost sad whimper escaped from his lips as he felt some of the ice begin to crawl up his foot, jerking it away as it would break away in small fractals. It would not contain him, even though it felt as if that were the ic e's intentions, though ice did not intend anything.

It was ice afterall, and didn't have a brain or whatevs. A low hiss came from somewhere, as a cat would stand at the fringe of the ice, looking at him with strange golden eyes and then turn away, trailing off with silence. The male frowned softly, wondering what the hell was happening with his powers and why they were happening more frequently. Despite what was perhaps expected of the moment, he sniffled and trailed his hand along his face to end up feeling frozen moisture that had been stopped mid cheek. So now he couldn't even cry right, it annoyed the male to some extend, indicated by him slamming the flat of his hand against one of the jagged bits of ice without thinking about it, feeling flesh get bitten into by the ice.

Ryan yelped, pulling his hand against his chest and cradling it, even though blood was beginning to soak his shirt, as well as his jacket. It was now that he just wanted someone really, or anyone to make the pain throbbing in his hand, and the freezing to go away. Life felt like it would have been greater without these powers, or atleast the freezing portion, as it tended to freeze everything. However something that caught his attention was...someone yelling out, a voice unfamiliar, but at the same time it drew him from his little tangent of self pity, as tge male drew to his feet with back still pressed against the wall. Another spurt of blood would come from his hand and stain the shirt as a small sheet of ice would form over the wound, as if trying to slow the blood flow from the wound down.

The ice that had formed a barrier in the entrance would seem to mold in a way he could step through, appearing head first from the cusp of the miniature ice domain clutching his hand as he looked around.

To say Yancey were angry would be an overstatement. For all he truly cared he didn't care if he found Deluge or not. Mostly because he knew that when the person was ready to come home they'd come home. No dislike towards Ryan at all, he just didn't see the point of chasing someone who didn't want to be found. Yancey was still dressed in his all black attire, as he made his way down the several alleyways, zig-zag in and out back and fourth as he took every way he could think of. He began to sniff again and all he could really smell was...iron? No it was just a little different...it was blood. Yancey put his little search for Deluge on hold as he ran out towards the smell just around the corner, His right eye flashed, appearing to look like silver clouds, magical lightning against pure black. The appearance faded back into his normal hazel eyes as his powers changed into a beneficial energy of healing. He pulled the eye patch as he placed it in his pocket, clearing the corner and seeing a vaguely familiar face peeking out from some ice. Yancey slightly panicked. Okay maybe it was a good thing he came. He took off as fast as his 40mph could take him, right up to Deluge as his unremarkable hazel eyes canned over him with a white smile flashing.

"Found ya hehe!" He chuckled as he seemed to bend over and look at Deluge's shirt, seeing the crimson color as he let out a little subconscious whine of sorts. Yancey looked to him with an arched eyebrow and sighed before squatting down and blinking at Ryan. "Here...lemmie see. I can fix it." Yancey offered as he held out his own hand, a strangely warm light radiating from his hand as his unremarkable hazel eyes seemed to turn into a brilliant blue.

No one, there was no one in the empty alleyway and with that, Ryan would let out a slightly annoyed sigh. The ice would pause its expansion around him as the rain continued to come down in its usual rhythm. Flowing down the ice and yet not expediting the melting process, just serving as a wet coating to the structures. Maybe he had misheard that sound, or maybe he was just hoping that it was someone looking for him, even though he had distanced himself to avoid hurting anyone with his power that was slowly beginning ti spiral out of control. Another lance of pain shot through his hand, drawing a low whine from the male as he looked around the darkness once again as if expecting someone to appear out of nowhere, and yet nothing happened. Rivulets of water would stream down his face, some of them freezing upon his flesh while others would continue to flow.

Yet within an instant he would take notice of someone moving fast, well fast enough that it caught him off guard as they seemed to stop right before him. His eyes would open wide, looking to the male that he did not even recognize, wondering who this was and why they had approached him. They did not look familiar in the least, save for the eyes looking out from within their skull, yet he could not quite place what it was about them that was so familiar. Yet this male seemed to know who he was fine enough, which caught him off guard for a moment, and yet a friendly face was welcome despite this. They even seemed to be worried for him, given by the small whine they made upon seeing his damage hand, or rather the blood soaking his jacket from his wounded hand, Ryan looking down to it and then back to the male.

H ewas on guard for the most part because he could not trust this stranger, and yet did not make any move to protect himself. The ice that was forming upon his subconscious will was now continuing the spread, forming spires atop the alleyway that it had crested at, rising like a triumphant tower as the ice would spread more and more. Within a moment however the male would let a glowing blue light radiate from their hand, as it danced over his injured hand and a warm feeling moved through the injured limb. Ryan's breath caught within his throat for a moment as the pleasant sensation would course through him, and he could feel the pain of his injury rapidly fade away, as well as the blood flow that came along with it, as he pulled the injured hand away from his jacket to see the flesh knitting closed.

He looked at the hand in wonder for a moment before looking to the male before him with eyes still wide. ”Thanks....um..”He started to thank the male but did not quite know his name.

Yancey couldn't really remember that he didn't look the same the last time he saw Ryan. He just kept his cheeky smile up as he nodded at Ryan and seemed to wait for him to finish up ith his drawn out uhm. Once that was finished though, Yancey looked around as if he were insepcting the area around them, and then he looked up at the ice forming. It would seem like a form of tower or something. Well maybe not a tower but...this definately made him think of frozen. But that wasn't exactly the same was it. Yancey found himself smiling at the ice and then he looked back to Ryan with an arched eyebrow. "You cold? I mean the ice is really cool but I can't help but think it'd be cold..." He let out a slight sigh and smiled, as if amused when he could see his on breath before chuckling and looking to the ground before lookingback up at Ryan. He had begun to wonder as to why Ryan's hand was bleeding, but in the end it didn't really "matter" per say. His friend as hurt and so he fixed him. Okay sure, maybe Yancey didn't like Ryan because he was competition but he couldn't stop loving his friend just because of something like that. Yancey as certainly loyal if nothing else. He went from his squatting position to an actual sitting one, seeming to pay no heed to the ground beneath him.

  "So...hatcha doin' out here?" He asked after a second, hsi smile turning slightly plain but his eyes furrowing with a little concern as he began to wonder and worry about the wound earlier. Yancey never had thought Ryan to be the type to inflict wounds on himself but with that thought presently around it concerned him. Even despite him knowing Ryan would not that didn't stop him from worrying.

The question of if he was cold was asked, even though the male had not really said who they were, which somewhat confused the male that was causing all of the ice to form in the first place. The smile of the stranger was strange for sure, but there was also something comforting about a person that was always smiling, so long as the smile wasn't some sort of creeper smile, because then they just came off as some sort of creeper.now his mind was beginning to wander again, but then again that was what it did a lot. ”No, i'm not cold.” Ryan would say looking around to the rain that was becoming sleet around them, as if his ice power was beginning to even effect the weather itself, which did not sound too promising when one thought about it. It made him wonder for a second if this guy was cold, because apparently the cold was bad for people and the rain likely felt cold.

Then came the question of what he was doing here, and while he could have told the male, he did not feel up to admitting the one truth. He could no control his power, so he distanced himself from everyone that he loved, to avoid having the blood of more people on his hand, not that his thoughts were as organized and elegant as that. In the end he did not want to hurt people he liked, and so he ran away before they were hurt to avoid causing anymore pain, for him and anyone else. ”I...was just enjoyin the air.” he lied burying his hands into his jacket pocket, and looking up to the raining sky, chewing on his lower lip softly and hoping that he was not seen through so easily.

”So...why are you out here?” He would ask.

Why was he there? Well that one was most certainly a good question, but then again the answer was quite obvious...well to Yancey anyway. He was here for Ryan, to bring him home and help him or whatever else he'd need. Yancey couldn't help but shake the feeling that Ryan didn't quite know who he was. While it might have been a stretch for him to assume that, Yancey couldn't help but notice that Ryan would probably have assumed Yancey was here because of Silus or Silus' older "form" Zell. If he wouldn't equate Yancey with either of those "people" then he might have equated Yancey with Amir...the kid he shared a life with. Now Yancey wasn't overly bright, but living an entire lifetime in another dimension DID evolve his wits just slightly. The last time he saw Ryan he was still small right? Then it hit Yancey... His physical form changed AFTER meeting Ryan. So now Yancey and Silus both had "older persona's." of sorts, and now Yancey was stuck with Ryan. Not that it was a bad thing, but it was a new situation than he walked into. "I'm just out and about. I was cursing the precipitation earlier." Yancey laughed about it for a moment.

"So what are you doing out here? Other than hiding in the ice and playing Snowman?" Yancey asked as he smiled at Ryan and chuckling a little.

Sleet fell upon the two, sliding down Ryan's cheek unaffected by the human flesh that it was touching, a body that released no real definable heat. The male said something about precipitation, which reminded him that was what one called rain and looking up he huffed softly. ”Its always raining, I don't know the last time it wasn't.” Ryan noted with a slight frown before adjusting his hood, letting it fall over the middle of his forehead. Part of him wondered if he had met the male before, considering that he was acting as if they were familiar, but then again maybe he was just one of those friendly people. The male would then ask what he was doing, saying something about hiding in the ice, and something about that made him smirk.

”Nothin I guess, just hiding in the ice I guess.” Ryan shrugged feeling the precipitation only begin to fall harder and colder, but he was unsure why. ”Rain has been getting worse actually.” He noted crossing his arms over his chest.

"Hey, you should try smiling more often. A smile like that brightens things up." Yancey said with a smirk as he readjusted himself to a new position. A knee in the ground, one led posted up, ready to push himself up to a standing position. He smiled at Ryan again and cocked his head to the side. He looked as if he were actually interested or found Ryan slightly fascinating. Probably because he really did. Why would homeless Ryan leave a warm home of terrorists who enjoy having him, and leave his friends for a day (or however long he had been gone) just to go back out on the streets and get hurt. Not that Yancey believed that's why Ryan left, but it was just a sad byproduct. Yancey furrowed a brow and arched the other before posing a rather simple question to Ryan. "Well if the rain is getting bad why don't you go inside?" He asked, genuine and child-like curiosity taking ahold of him for the moment.

Ryan couldn't help but blush, though the color came across as almost nonexistent within his cheeks but it was there. It was strange hearing a compliment towards his smile of all things, but then again perhaps that was just this guy trying to be all friendly. Pulling his hood in close to cover most of his face, the male couldn't really wipe away the smirk, as the ice fortress continued to grow in size, more and more crystalinne spires would jut out from the ice structure. It was then that he wondered why this person was helping him, some homeless kid that couldn't control his powers, and that hurt everyone he touched. ”I guess.....I dunno.” He wasn't sure if he could tell him, that he was afraid if what being inside would do as far as his powers were concerned, so many things could go wrong, and even someone like him had thought that out. ”I guess I just don't have anywhere to go.” He sighed somewhat sadly, looking to his palm, semi-transparent mist rising from it, and droplets freezing almost instantly upon contact.

At hearing that Ryan had no place to Go Yancey wanted to giggle and say "bullcrap" but he didn't at risk of giving away his identity. He was actually surprised Ryan hadn't asked for his name yet, or asked who he was. Yancey smirked and reached out with a hand for a moment and placed it on Ryan's shoulder and started looking him over for a moment. "Well... If you want I can help ya." He said with a smile, it was hard for an individual like Yancey to be mean, but there was the underlying issue that he was willing to "Lie" to get Ryan to trust him. Yancey took the hand form Ryan's shoulder and held it out for Ryan to take. "I know what it's like to not have anywhere to go so...If you want you can stick with me." He offered it up, it was true, after Silus was "dead" he spent most of his time alone. Or the little time he spent with people was privately with Zell or Yamm. Then after that he spent all his time with Amir or Silus, so he had a rather small friends group...and he did know what it was like to have no one you could turn to. But it brought up an important question to Yancey...Why would he run away? He had a new home right? He had Silus right? He had food and water with friends and newfound family right? Why would he just up and leave...something didn't make sense to Yancey. Something wasn't right at all.

The male wanted to help him, but Ryan found himself wondering why someone would want to help him of all people, then again he probably did not know what Ryan had done. Either way, he did not want to end up hurting another person, especially someone so willing to help him like this. A hand was extended towards him, and instead of warming up, he seemed to shrink back from the male, burying his hands into his pockets as if to hide them away, and in this case that was what he was doing. ”I...uh...I can?” He asked a little hesitantly as a few spires of the ice domain that was building itself would begin to fall down. ”Where are ya goin anyway?” He would ask feeling the rain pick up, and frowning slightly.

Well that was kinda...saddening a little. Yancey offered a hand to help and Ryan not only didn't take the hand but took the extra effort to shrink back and adamantly keep himself closed. That was...a little hurtful, more than a little even. Was he THAT bad that the kid had to move away from him like the plague? Yancey stared at his hand visibly saddened before bouncing back.  He had been used to people like that. He had to live with Michael after all. The most he could conclude from that was one of two things. One, that Ryan didn't like him. The other one being that maybe Ryan just happened to like being homeless. It made sense to some extent. Ryan never liked Yancey to be honest, and he knew that. That was why he contemplated lying to begin with. Though now it didn't seem to matter. Yancey really felt bad for Silus though. What was he going to tell the poor kid? That one of, if not his only friend other than Yancey himself ran away because he liked being homeless? He just HAD to like the idea of being homeless. He had a house, he had a new start and in the end he just ran away again.

  Yancey quickly resolved that he would tell Silus that he never found Ryan, and that Ryan was nowhere to be found in the entire city. It might be easier for Silus to swallow than the concept of "You're friend ran away from you". Silus being in pain was the last thing Yancey every wanted, even if it brought about his own death. But digressing to the fact he knew Ryan wanted nothing to do with this he sighed and stood up as he smirked. He seemed to hear the ice cracking and beginning to shift as the ice structure began to buckle in certain areas. Yancey stood up ad brushed his knees off when he heard Deluge ask about where he was going. "I...I'- nevermind you don't wanna go, it's fine. I'll just uh. See you around then I guess." Yancey said with a bit of a forced smile as he put his hands in his pocket and stepping back. "Take care Ryan."

Ryan had noticed a change within the mood or something along those lines, though he had not anticipated that his not physically taking the hand would have caused any sort of problem. It was that suspicion coupled with the whole him acting as if the male did not want to go along with them that sort of gave Ryan an idea of what had happened, even though it was not what one would call a solid idea. ”H..hey I didn't say I didn't wanna go.” Ryan shot back suddenly, if not somewhat pitifully and then realizing something, or rather a small fact that he would have likely overlooked given the circumstance and him being himself. How did this person know his name when he had never even met them? This caused Ryan to look at them with an almost confused expression, raising on eyebrow in that confusion as it bloomed across his face in a second.

"Wait, how do you know my name?” he asked taking a step back cautiously as if surmising they were some manner of stalker or something like that, even if it was not the case at all. Hands would slowly withdraw from his jacket, but they did not really make any motions towards any kind of action, just clenching and unclenching. Now he was internally dealing with possibly offending someone, and that person being some sort of creep, both of which did not sound good to the young hydrokinetic.
