Shade Ball
Dear Chelle
I know it has been far too long since we have had the pleasure of meeting. To amend for the time apart, I would like to cordially invite you and all of your friends to a Ball. I will be holding it at my estate in Chicago, Illinois and of course it will be a formal affair. All that you need to bring it yourself, and any guests with you. Food, wine and music will be in abundance. I hope that you come prepared for quite the evening, it will be to die for. The address will be attached to this envelope, I hope to see you there.
With love
Elena Marie
Elena had finished the simple note with a stroke of the quilled pen, ink needing a few minutes to dry before she could apply the seal to it after being placed within an envelope. With a snap of well manicured fingernails, Elena called for one of her homunculi, the one known as Marian to bring her the simple envelope and within a few minutes, the letter was placed within it. Wax was prepared and the seal pressed. The seal taking the form of a simple sunrise, immortalized in purple ink. With that done, the ginger female was pleased, interlocking pale fingers as she reclined within her desk seat.
”I want that sent promptly Marian, no time will be wasted.” Elena ordered, the homunculus nodding as she walked out of the room, leading the plotting villainess to her business. She was already booking a flight to Chicago, and the mansion in question was already being readied for the party that was to take place within a week of today. Preparations had to be made, caterers hired and only the highest quality of wine acquired. A woman like Elena needed everything as she wanted it to be, nothing would be out of line; no flaws would be within the master plan.
Within the week everything was prepared, Caterers were contacted and asked for the largest array of foods imaginable, no expense would be spared. She would have no less than the best, and the best were delivered to her on literal silver platters. Money was the greatest motivator known to man, far greater than the most powerful of guns or even gods. She was in the city within hours of booking the plane, which left her days to prepare, which was more time than she really needed.
By the time of the night she had everything prepared, with tables lined with food and wine, as well as music pumping through the speakers at such a lovely volume. Elena had Marian setting everything up, the wine in cool bowls full of ice and sparkling glasses placed around ready for consumption. Nothing would go wrong with it.
”Our guests should be here in a matter of moments. I want them escorted here immediately and no lollygagging Marian. I'm sure you don't want to go back to Daji.” The threat was enough, as the woman now clothed in a light green dress quickly scurried off to the front door of the expansive mansion, waiting for the guests of honor to arrive.
Fellow members of her organization had the freedom to come, as long as they were behaving themselves, though few had actually chosen to come.
Reclining upon a large fur lined throne of sorts, the empress of Shade waited, head resting upon the palm of her hand. Green eyes scanning over the large room, decked out with all sort of decorations: such as long velvet curtains draping over windows, table cloths of the highest quality and carpeting plush enough to fall asleep on, yet thin enough as not to seem eccentric. Her black dress sparkled with what looked like diamond dust, hair made into curls that bounced when she moved her head from side to side. Music seeming to change into a lively jazz tune, perfect for a fast paced dance.
She sat and waited.

Re: Shade Ball
The Italian Manor was quiet, a bit too quiet. For once, they weren't hosting a soiree. Not even a mouse, or trapped bat was screeching in the large corridors. Thrones' had fallen silent.. and for one, they would be attending a ball. A ball hosted by none other than Elena Marie. A new maid had rushed the mail to her Queen as quickly as it was dropped off. Seeing the seal literally sent a shock across of Chelle's face. Her jaw had slacked, with surprise, and then a Cheshire grin replaced the guise. She perched herself in a windowsill along the corridor to her office. A soft smile curled over her lips again while she peeled the wax seal from the paper, opening the letter. One of her legs dangled over the side, her toes just brushed the marble floor. Her skin was ashen gray, and her horns were present. A form she only allowed her servants to see. She did not particularly enjoy this form, but it literally drained her to stay in the other form. The suppressed, hybrid form. Sliding her reading glasses on, she let the letter absorb her whole attention. She read the well written message and then whisked herself from the windowsill.
"Julie, I want Anna, Cilian, Robert, Vermillion, and of course, Victoria, informed of this invitation. I don't care if you're afraid of Victoria, Julie, you will cordially invite her.." Chelle snipped at her new servant girl, Julie. She had soft brown hair, cute features, and had the gift to become invisible. A small gift, but a gift nonetheless. Julie had tried to protest visiting Victoria. Chelle was not going to have that. Once Chelle had found out of Anna's pregnancy, she had to pick a new servant girl. Julie was recommended by Anna, so here she was. The girl tried to sneak out while Chelle sat down at her desk. They had been walking the distance to her office while they conversed, and of course, Julie had presented Chelle with the letter from Elena Marie.
"Oh yes, Julie?"
"Yes, my Queen?"
"Wait until I've written a reply, and have it mailed off immediately."
"Yes, my Queen.."
Julie was so timid. Chelle began to write, her beautiful penmanship making the fresh piece of parchment come to life. Her quill, a feather from her own wing, being dipped into fresh, deep black ink.
My dearest Elena Marie,
It seems my schedule has just decided to clear up. I would be honored to spend an evening at a Ball with you, your esteemed guests, and even family. I'm sure my little Anna would love to come, but her pregnancy may hinder that. We shall see. I must say, however, it has been too long. Far too long that I was shocked to see your seal. I'll bring a bottle of wine for just the two of us to share.
With love,
Chelle Takeiro
She finished writing, and let it sit to dry. "Julie, you have a large set of shoes to fill. I expect you to be yourself, my love, but I also expect you to do your best." She said, giving the new servant a bit of a confidence boost. Chelle then patted the girl on the cheek and walked toward her bathroom. "I'll bathe, I suppose. You're invited tonight, too, if you'd like." She said, smirking with her back turned. Julie had blushed, a big grin on her face. "Really?! -- Uh, uhm.. I mean, I'd love to attend you, madame." Chuckling, Chelle turned back to her servant, her form back to her hybrid state. No more horns, but no wings present, either. She slid out of her slim evening gown and walked back to her desk, nude.
Leaning over the hand polished Mahogany, she plucked up the parchment, folded it with a delicate touch, and then sealed it into a fresh envelope. Dribbling a bit of deep teal wax over the fold in the envelope, she then pressed the seal of Thrones into the wax. It dried quickly, the metal being cool. With the letter sealed, Julie accepted it from Chelle's grasp and flitted off. "And now, to hope Julie does her job..."
---
Hours had passed, and with everyone in the private Jet, they were off, and would soon arrive at the proper location.
Chelle was actually excited, her form wearing a black dress with gold and silver trim. She looked lovely, and as did the rest of her guests. She had a ballroom mask hiding her face, but it was hard to forget a woman like her. Sighing, she sipped her O negative, and listened to the others carry on small talk, or the silence of the plane ride.

Re: Shade Ball
I see her. My eyes cannot deny her beauty, for if they did I would be forced to gouge them out and live forever knowing that she was the last thing I saw. She is my wife, my maiden, my lover, my saviour and the only thing I can call my own. She is the woman that can bring a man like me to his knees, to fully discard his pride and vanity all for a mere glimpse of that snowflake hair, for a touch of her porcelain skin, so smooth that I warn myself endlessly not to break her. I am a slave to this love, tied down by the coils that plunge their ruthless talons into my heart; the slow twist of my reckless yearning throws my soul into a world of adoration so deep and so strong that I fear I may drown. Yet it all feels so right. I refuse to escape these bonds, I refuse to deny what my heart so endlessly desires and she, well she makes this overwhelming numbness feel like ecstasy. I struggle no longer, I see no point in denying the blessings that have struck a poor soul like me, for once everything is as it should be and it is all because of her. Even in the midst of war she is mine, my immaculate treasure and the one woman who can subjugate the quivering fear that has slowly begun to grasp my heart.
It is here, in our bedroom, only recently tidied after a rather adventurous night together that I can finally appreciate the pure and simple beauty that exudes off this woman. Her midsection is now a lot rounder, her petite form making way for the bump that swells from her belly. A child floats around inside, my child that is. Six months after the initial discovery and yet Anna is still inhumanly graceful as ever, so beautiful and ebuillent that it intrigues me as to how she can carry herself around so easily. Although Anna's day job of serving Chelle has been rather nonexistent because of her current status she still manages to find something to do, which is peculiar because I simply have no idea what's going on around here. Whilst the cellar happens to be my little kingdom I can't help but idly stand by as my wife teeters around cleaning this and folding that, it's exhausting simply watching her. But then again, I shouldn't be complaining, I'm not the one with the bulbous extension swelling off their stomach. A beautiful bulbous extension might I add.
"Cilian you have to get dressed, the plane's leaving in 30 minutes", her perky windchime voice breaks my contemplation, sending the ever shifting canvas that covers my skin into a momentary buzz of excitement. Her hand grazes my face, a gentle pat to wake me up or a sly hint that I need to shave before this big event. A ball to be specific.
"Anna, is this a normal thing? I mean I appreciate the attempt at trying to have some Jane Austin inspired party but does this always happen...or does Chelle just have weird friends?", of course I had to ask the question, my thoughts mulling over which three piece I should wear whilst I assist Anna in putting on her dress. A lovely pale blue, perfectly colliding with her natural skin tone so she appeared as light and feathery as a spring day sky. My question still hanging in the air for a mere second before she replies, of course she would know.
"Honey, believe me...Elena Marie is known to be a bit dramatic. I'm sure this is just a one off and a mere attempt at softening negotiations between thrones and the Magical families..", she ascertains, tapping my nose before running her dainty hand through the white hair that streamed down her back. "I'm sure it will be fun, been a while since we've gotten so dressed up like this", a warm grin dances across her peachy lips before a graceful swivel sends her in the direction of her shoes.
"Oh pssh, I'm always dressed up, speak for yourself little lady!", I tease, not bothering to hide the chuckle that leaps out of my throat. Anna shoots me a mock glare before smirking, a raised eyebrow confirming her amusement.
The usual ritual of vanity and preening was a mere chore, my body naturally finding its way into the mood of the upcoming event and happily obliging without complaint. No strand of hair stood out of place, the suit, tie, pocket square and cufflinks all marvellously immaculate against one another. I would be lying if I said I wasn't impressed with my choice of attire for the night. It had to be perfect, I wanted the world to know that I was the handsome devil whose heart was stolen by my porcelain skinned princess, I wanted to tell every single organism that I had finally found my soul, my heart and my reason for life.
Several nitpicks later and everything was ready, the suit was without flaw and my partner was as immaculate as always. Even with little effort she easily managed to captivate my attention. Her beauty, this pure and almost painful perfection strangled my gaze till a very obvious blush trawled across her cheeks, the light rosiness only heightening the sublime sensation of being around her. My affection was all consuming, like a flood so strong and so deep that I am swept away without struggle. "You are divine..", is all I can whisper, my mind ablaze with infatuation that my tongue could not process any larger statement. But alas, the compliment was taken and a feathery kiss quickly pressed itself against my lips before we stepped out of the room and into the grand hallway.
A standard pre-drink was necessary to calm the nerves before the ball, and being the god husband that I am I gladly accepted Anna's portion with gusto. The Thrones manner was relatively quiet, maids and butlers occasionally passing by with a curt nod or a stifled grin at Anna's growing belly. Whilst the help were obviously enamoured for Anna's new 'development' it was clear that their work was the priority, bustling too and fro before the Queen's departure only seemed natural for the dedicated workers. No sooner had we managed to wade through the grand interior were we finally faced with the jet that awaited outside, it's engines humming like a great beast ready to soar.
An adventure awaited us, and oh what an adventure this will be

Re: Shade Ball
- Spoiler:
What had seemed to be at or around an hour after this happened Cain's brain fully comprehended exactly what happened and what was going on. Sitting on the bed he jumped up and quickly rushed over to his closet and pulled out a suit that he had been saving for a special occasion. A special occasion that just so happened to be that night, if Elena wanted to put on a show than he would certainly be glad to oblige and let himself stand out. Standing in the center of the room, still in his birthday suit of course, he turned to the mirror and started to comb his hair. He wasn't spiking it tonight, and he wasn't just wetting it down, no tonight he was going to actually style it.
About two hours later Cain stepped outside of his master bedroom in a suit with his hair parted to the side, and black dress shoes. His skin was clean and his nails were cut, after tonight one would never be able to say that Cain didn't know how to clean up. Grinning a dastardly grin he strode down the stairs to the stage of the theater where he raised his hands up into the air as the shadow monsters grabbed him and he was sucked down into the shadows and shadow traveled out of the 'abandoned' theater and to the main hall where the Ball was taking place. He rose up from the shadows in the middle of the room and upon being fully risen they dropped back down to the ground revealing only him in the place. There he stood with his pearly white canines reflecting off the artificial light.
The Lord of Shadows had arrived at the Shade Ball and he was there to show Elena's guests and even members of shade just how truly dashing he could be. Just how much better than them be was, that and to have fun, because what was a ball without a little bit of fun and class thrown into it? The jazz music quickly reached his ears and he turned on his heels to face Elena, giving her a low bow as he smiled. "What a lovely choice of music Elena, the place looks amazing by the way; as do you of course. I hope your evening will be as splendid as I hope mine will soon be... By the way if you see Angelica let her know she left something at my place." The London/New York Vampire said before turning to meet the guests of honor...as The Thrones had arrived.

Re: Shade Ball
Isak seemed puzzled at first. The suit on his bed was, to be honest, fitting well but he never wore something like that since..... since.... since his prom. That was a while ago actually. So much occured since that time, Isak almost forgot why the suit was there on his bed. It was because his Master, Elena Marie, was organizing a ball for some people he did not knew and members of Shade were free to be present. Of course, since he had the Lord of Shadows as his training mentor not so long ago, the young man felt obligated to go at this event. Perhaps the most interesting feature of that ball was that he was, if Isak understood correctly, a masked event, a masquerade he believed, or something called like that.
Isak then walked to the ball's location, a manor of some sort, and saw that the setting was nice. He noticed the Witch of a throne and even the Lord. The music was not the kind he was used to listen to and his tuxedo, consisting of a black vest and pants, white shirt and golden tie, was comfortable enough. He walked to his master, wondering if he could do anything for her or simply enjoy the evening. As always, Isak somewhat lacked the initiative to have fun in parties.
As he arrived in front of Elena Marie, he bowed his head and came closer to say a word or two to her.
-If there is anything I can do Master, could be a good moment to let me know since I believe you might be busy later on tonight...
Something draw his attention, as he saw the guests of honor who had just arrived at the ball.

Re: Shade Ball
Everything was prepared and her guests were arriving, which meant that it was almost time for this charade to begin. The guest of honor would be arriving like she expected and the queen would also be attending the event, so she would have to be dealt with as well. For now Elena would enjoy the lively music pumping through the room, enjoy the lovely atmosphere created by everything that she had conjured so to speak.; well through the use of the magic of money.
One of the members of her small group; the Lord of Shadows Cain Vulsore was the first to arrive in the room, speaking about his escapades with one of her homunculi last night. " Thank you Cain and i'll be sure to inform her." Elena said with a curt grin and the next to make their appearence was her apprentice Isak. He was being the usual shy young man that she was forced to train but perhaps one day that would be trained out of him, or he would remain that way forever.
"Yes, Isak there is something I would like ou to do;relax. This is going to be a party, so I want you to enjoy it. Can you do that?" She asked raising a fiery red eyebrow as she tapped a single fingernail upon the arm rest of the throne. The guests would arriv soon, and everything was prepared for them. Within a few moments Michael walked into the room, dressed in a simple but flaterring suit; his hair spiked up.
"Your guests have just arrived Elena."
"Good, Marian should direct them towards the ballroom." Elena said with a pleased tone. Everything was going as she planned.

Re: Shade Ball
Impressive. That was what she thought of the whole building. It was gorgeous, and not to mention the interior. Smiling, she shifted the masquerade mask over her face and walked before her Prince and Princess; seemingly princess. Anna was on the arm of Cilian Blanc, after all. Smiling, she looked to the girl that was waiting for them. Looking her over, Chelle bent her knees as she plucked the edge of her dress. A simple curtsy to acknowledge the woman.
"Hello Madam Chelle, Master Cilian, Madam Anna," the girl spoke.
"I am Marian, please follow me." She also bowed, and then turned briskly.
Chelle looked back to Cilian and Anna, then followed inside. "I must say, it is rather beautiful here. It's also a bit odd that I've never been here. Curious, don't you think, Cilian?" she looked to her Prince and servant, Anna. Smiling at them both, she then turned her attention back to Marian. "This way," she said, a set of doors opening to the main ball room.
The room was decorated perfectly. The wine glasses, the high polish finished floors. The wonderful smells of sweets, and snacks. Chelle clapped her hands together and grinned. "Molto bene!" she cooed and twirled before looking for Elena Marie. "Elena! Where are you?" she called, just before spotting the red headed beauty.
Stepping on light feet, she walked to the shorter woman and offered a bow, then her hand. "It's marvelous to see you." She said, her dark eyes shrouded by her mask. Her cheeks were touched with a bit of blush, her lips painted a deep crimson. Her olive skin was gorgeously blemish free, save for the scar on her chest. The gown she wore exposed her chest, and all of her back down to the dimples above her buttocks. She looked amazing, and she felt it, too. Smiling, she squeezed Elena's hand in a friendly manner and just gushed over how wonderful this Ball was, and it hadn't even reached full swing.

Re: Shade Ball
The low hum of the private jet rippled through the sky, a sleek white dragon soaring over the endless ocean of white clouds and the last golden glimpse of noon. Cilian and Anna, both lucky enough to get a window seat facing one another, had fallen into a contemplative trance, as if they finally achieved a level of tranquility that had not been tasted for a very long time. The world was being ravaged by war and here they were, two lovebirds drifting high above the scarred earth doing nothing more than enjoying the simple company of each another. It was relatively silent, the occasional small-talk lighting up the atmosphere every now and then as the wholesomely beautiful duo exchanged blushing glances and coy smiles, they were in love and there was no questioning it.
***
I could already feel the the warm rush of the sauvignon blanc trickle throughout my core, it was good wine, no, great wine and I had to force to myself not to take another glass. One must not spoil themselves before an event and as much as the little drunk eighteen year old within me whined and sulked, I was definitely not going to turn into a slovenly fool tonight, can't risk embarrassing the wife. Although my hunger, or should i say cravings, were immediately sated when the oh-so helpful flight hostess' brought out the food, such a glorious selection of nibbles that left me guiltily gorging myself in front of my rather amused spouse. Anna was glowing, not only from the golden light that flushed through the window but also from here simply unquestionable and unavoidable beauty. I cared not that she had gained a little weight from the pregnancy, why such a small body like hers could have used the extra fat to support the two little bodies swimming around in her belly. A boy and a girl, brother and sister wallowing in the warmth of their mother. I'm not going to lie, the moment I was told there were two bodies instead of one I almost soiled myself, not that I did...it's just the realisation of being a father to two beautiful little children was so beautifully frightening that I could do nothing more than adore the woman who was carrying them.
"Let's think of names for them! Bacon and Egg!", that was the best I could come up with to be honest and in all seriousness it was probably the alcohol talking rather than me, but Anna seemed amused, which was always good.
"Name our children that and I will never have sex with you again!", she giggled cheekily, brushing my cheek with her hand as her morbid statement melted into my core. Of course she was joking! She had to be joking, such cruel words that cut ever so deep would never have a sliver of truth. I should've retorted, but instead I remained silent, pouting like a hormonal schoolgirl as I watched the plane slowly dip it's nose underneath the clouds. We had arrived.
Several minutes later, thanking the hostess' and shoving the little sandwiches into my mouth, we had all exited the plane, Anna forgoing a wheelchair because she was oh-so independent. The tarmac was glistening with late afternoon dew, maybe it had rained before our arrival? My colleagues, beautifully dressed and primped for the night looked dazzling, even Victoria who was still rather mopey. Our arrival was met with a little crowd, a lone woman dressed in plunging cocktail attire leading the well dressed fray as she announced the typical greetings expected of an event like this. Glancing at Anna, and her baby bump, I could tell that she will probably be the subject of many conversations tonight, who cares about normal life when you have a pregnant lady to chatter about?
After all the initial pleasantries we were finally led towards the exquisite mansion, embellished with a gothic design and quite possibly the only venue worthy enough to house such a prestigious event. Elena Marie truly was a peculiar woman, how she managed to conjure such wealth and prepare this event seemed much too ridiculous for a moment such as this. Whilst the government was hunting us down the redheaded sorceress thought it best to hold a ball, as you do of course. I don't bother hiding the chuckle that escaped my throat, tonight was going to be fun, maybe a bit too extravagant but fun. Everyone was dressed to perfection and the alluring scent of food, wine and candles invaded my senses like a pleasant aromatic assault. Elena Marie was an enigma, and even though I had the opportunity, well a rather strange opportunity, to meet with her once before I could have never pictured her being so utterly flamboyant. She was the sorceress who traversed the murky pits of hell with me and seeing all this, the stupefying parade of wealth and rich colour was sort of confusing to say the least.
But alas, now was not the time to worry! I was here to show off Anna and engorge myself on the evening's delights. Several people were already present, many dressed to perfection as they casually chatted away in the throughout the large ballroom, it was a personal challenge to make some new friends tonight. Once Chelle had finished her typical Italian vampire greeting I found myself staring at the Crimson witch, she looked exactly same save for the formal wear and possibly even looked younger. The tattoo I had given her still wriggled around on her wrist and I could not help but give her a little bow, not really knowing what else to do.
"Elena Marie, a pleasure to meet you again. This beautiful woman here is Anna, my wife. Thank you for extending the invitation to us ", the grin on my lips spread with pride at merely mentioning the dazzling woman next to me, she was my star.
Tonight was going to be marvellous

Re: Shade Ball
"A formal event?"
the automaton asked rather curtly. The new servant girl replied with one word, she was visibly nervous around Victoria. It was understandable. She didn't obtain her new position until after the Eir incident, and even before that Victoria had rarely called upon servants. Since the failed mission to save her sister, Victoria had refrained from interacting with the humans except when necessary. She still fulfilled her duties of course, she was nothing if not loyal. She understood a weapon's purpose. She just didn't volunteer for extra work, and generally stayed locked in her room if she was at the manor. There were many new people there that had literally never laid eyes upon her, she had become the hidden princess of Thrones.
"I see...tell Chelle I will meet her at the plane. I'll have to find something to wear." Julie graciously bowed and quickly left, apparently glad to have a reason to remove herself from Victoria's room. At the current moment, Victoria looked far from formal. She sat cross-legged on a chair, barefoot in a sundress. In front of her and on either side laptops sat propped open, each screen feeding her a constant stream of information. She let out a short sigh and closed two computers, bringing up files on the magic families on the third. She stood up and walked across her room. Her room was large, though it didn't have much furniture. It was mostly storage, trunks and dressers, nightstands and tables. It had one chair, a couch, and no bed to be seen.In comparison with her simple and practical room, the closet was cavernous. She opened the door to reveal what was more of a hallway filled with various clothes than anything else, though in truth it had been a while since she had visited it. She hadn't been much for hobbies lately, but over the years she had made quite a few pieces of clothing. Formal wear wasn't her usual thing, but she was certain she could find something appropriate.
Victoria Arrived truly looking the part of a princess. She wore a white and silver ballgown, incredibly intricate silver designs radiating from the breast and reaching out to every edge. The strapless gown left her shoulders exposed, though the designs continued on detached sleeves that covered most of her arms, ending in bells that swallowed her hands in the expensive fabric. Where she usually went with a short hair style, her straight blonde hair now fell down to the middle of her back. It was tucked back behind a silver masquerade mask that focused her blue eyes like a weapon. Truly one could mistake her for a different person, if not for her eerie lack of imperfections and her dour attitude. She took her seat on the plane and remained silent for the most part. Her only words throughout the trip were "Magic...hmph."
Victoria didn't like magic, it had too many unknown quantities. There were always variables she couldn't account for. If things went sour, she couldn't guarantee everyone's safety simply because she couldn't guarantee anything where magic was involved. Of course, magic was a part of her very being. Cogs and wires moved her sure, but also some human's stolen hear infused with some manner of dark magicks. Even Victoria herself didn't fully understand it, otherwise she would be able to make more of her kind.
The trip was short. Not as short as it would have been had Victoria piloted the craft, but the humans tended to complain when she did so. Her heels clicked as she stepped off the plane behind her queen and the princess. She exuded a certain aloof elegance, her silver and white contrasting strongly against all the dark colors present. As she entered the mansion a strange sensation washed over her. A sort of resonance between her stolen heart and the mysterious energies of the mansion. Victoria pondered whether Elena would be able to sense the occult energies within her. It didn't matter much, she supposed. Being infused with a little dark magick was probably not too unusual in this crowd. Victoria continued to stay close to but slightly behind Chelle as she went to meet Elena. After Chelle and Cilian she took her turn to greet the host. The sullen and terse Victoria was completely gone, replaced by a radiant and charming English woman. "Miss Elena I am Victoria Steyr. It is a pleasure to meet you, and an honor to be invited." She said in a thick English accent while curtsying graciously. She was the embodiment of friendliness and charm. It was all a charade of course, well for the most part. Victoria really did love jazz, and couldn't remember the last time she had really listened to music. Victoria was wary as always but perhaps...perhaps if all she did this evening was dress up and dance at a party, that would be all right. Victoria had been so obsessed since losing her sister, this night might end up being healthy for her "I must say, your choice in music is divine. I simply must find a man to dance with" She said, looking around the ballroom for just such a man.

Re: Shade Ball
"Chelle, it is a monumental pleasure to see you here. I hope you enjoy all of the preparations made for this night, I put great pains into making sure everything was perfect." Elena said with all of the pleasantries she could sum up, red painted lips forming a gracious smile. She was of course not the only guest to arrive, but that was to be expected from someone with so many interesting friends like the enigmatic Chelle, so they would be treated with the same amount of respect. However the hostess found herself lacking without wearing a mask, adding a masquerade feel as the ever stylish queen of Thrones did.
Next to greet her was a familiar face, and one that she could scarce forget. "Cilian, its a pleasure, and Anna; I am delighted to meet a woman willing to deal with him." She said somewhat mischievously as Michael placed his hand within hers, flashing a smile to the couple quickly. "This is my husband, Michael."
"I've heard some about you." He said cryptically offering a hand to the frenchman, to be withdrawn after the gesture was returned. The last to greet her was a strange, yet interesting woman with a thick accent.
"Well I hope you enjoy yourself this evening. There will be plenty of music, dancing and fun to have." She said returning a sweet smile. "And trust me, the music will be high quality all of the night and i'm sure Ivan would be more happy than to obligate you with a dancing partner. Am I right Ivan?"
The silver haired male approached Elenas seat of choice, somewhat annoyed at being volunteered for dancing. "If the lady would be willing." he said with a slight Russian accent, offering her a hand that would lead her to the dance floor.

Re: Shade Ball
"I'm glad to see your hard work is not going to be brushed aside. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves," complimenting Marie was easy, for now.
The Queen of Thrones shifted a bit and turned toward Victoria, giving her a shallow nod. She then turned back to Elena Marie and grinned.
"Ah, so you do have a partner. I was a bit curious. A woman as beautiful as yourself certainly deserved someone." Sly smile replaced her old, polite one.
"Hm, pity Gentleman couldn't attend. Did you get word from him, Cilian?" she asked, turning to her Prince just as Elena called forth a man with silver hair, and a Russian accent to match his brutish features.
The Queen smiled and watched as the Princess was asked to dance. Wonderful. This night was already a splendid event.

Re: Shade Ball
So the Crimson Witch really did have a romantic bone in her body, strange. I would've thought that someone of her profession would not have had time for relationships, but then again who am I to judge another's love life. I mean, not to brag or anything but Anna has pretty much set the standard for spouses and such. I can't help but compare other women to her, she's simply too good to be true. But that is beside the point, Elena's husband was a handsome man to say the least. His handshake was firm and cold like ice. The little sparrows that flew across my wrists scattered into the inky void that traversed the rest of my flesh. Strange. Such omens were for the superstitious however and I knew that such a thing was not going to bother me now, I was going to get drunk on my wife's beauty and dance till our feet ached.
"No Chelle, it appears our good friend preferred to play with himself at home..", i couldn't help but smile, of course Gentleman was going to avoid such a fine event, he was simply to tacky. Turning my attention back to the host i give her and her husband a grin, a polite one of course. "I hope you don't mind if I borrow your wife later on for a dance good sir", I ask Michael, winking at Elena before giving Anna gentle grin. She could always have the handsome Asian whilst take the red headed witch for a spin. Why would she refuse anyways? Anna was bound to get exhausted soon anyways and I wasn't going to slack off eating food the whole night. Tonight was the time for celebration!
"Since you're asking everyone why don't you waltz with Victoria later, I'm sure she'd prefer a good friend to some big...man", Anna whispered, giving the princess a worried look. My colleague, who I had scarcely seen over the past few months, had finally escaped the confines of her room and joined the night of festivities. The poor girl changed drastically since witnessing the death of her sister, and I knew for a fact that somewhere deep in that metal shell she had a soul. No hardened expressions or practised faces could hide her torment and it pained me to see her like this. So broken and alone.
"I will...later on. For now, you are my star", I offer my hand to Anna, rubbing her warm soft skin with the edge of my fingers. "Care for a dance my fair lady?", how could she resist such charm?
"Well what do we have here? A peasant boy asking for a dance? Just be gentle, I don't want the babies getting too excited just yet...", she laughs with that beautiful laugh of hers. I feel her gentle embrace, dainty fingers interlocking with my own as we inched our way into the centre of the dance floor, swaying with the sound of the string quartet in the background. I'm not going to lie but this was fantastic, Anna was simply divine in her dress and the music was beyond impeccable. The sweet lullaby guided our footsteps, every movement as graceful as a pair of swans. This was where I wanted to be. With my wife, on the dance floor and enjoying life for what it was.

Re: Shade Ball
"The lady would be delighted." Victoria's pleasant voice faded into the music notes as she allowed the Russian to take her cold hand and lead her onto the dance floor. Victoria danced with flawless form naturally, though it didn't take any particular effort from her. She took advantage of the dance to make note of her surroundings, but of course that took only a passing glance. Though she didn't show it, something about this place put her on edge. She was conscious of every heart beat, something she was usually oblivious to. It's not like she had any nerves to feel her own pulse, so what was this odd sensation? Perhaps it was just odd being somewhere without it being a mission, it had been so long. It was hard to accept that this was merely a social event, and it was also odd seeing Cilian in this context. Though she didn't actually blame him, he was still the human that killed his sister and Victoria had still not completely sorted her feelings on the whole matter. Victoria tried to push troublesome thoughts into the back of her mind and finished her dance with the handsome Russian.
As the song ended, he politely excused himself and Victoria departed to mingle with the guests. After an appropriate amount of conversation Victoria broke from the crowd and stood near a wall, becoming lost in thought again despite her best efforts not to. her eyes still moved about, cataloging her surroundings, but she remained almost motionless and perhaps a tad too dignified for a party.

Re: Shade Ball
Elena simply watched the ball proceed with interest, all of her guests seeming to enjoy everything that she had set up and it was going perfectly. All of the planning had not gone to waste, and when it all came to fruition, it would taste even sweeter. Marian was fluttering about, tending to anything that her guests could hope for; ranging from food, drink to a request in music. Cilian danced with his beloved and Elena thought perhaps that it was time she dance with hers as well.
Elena gripped Michaels hand and lead him to the dance floor, as the music turned to a faster paced tune and the couple adjusted accordingly. Their motions were fluid, and synchronized and held a certain grace to them; as if the couple had practiced such a dance all of their lives and when it was done they both gracefully bowed before moving into another. ”Do you remember when we used to dance like this?”
”How could I forget? Arianna used to beg you to give her a few pointers but when its not magic, you're a horrible teacher.” Michael noted as they twirled.
”There was that time you tried to teach Sean how to handle money, but I think Aaron was the only one who got anything out of it.”
”Maybe its because you spoiled that boy too much.”
”I think I spoiled him just enough.” Elena added as they ended their dance and Elena let her eyes fall upon Cilian, who was likely at this time finished or close to finished dancing with his wife. ”May I have the honor of this dance?” She asked once she was sure the couple had their time, aiming the question at Cilian with a pleasant smile.

Re: Shade Ball
Alone again, it seemed. The Queen stood alone, stoic as she watched the couples embrace and sway along the floor. Pretty dresses hugging beautiful girls, and men dressed extraordinarily well. She felt sorrow creeping into her soul, but only for a moment. A glass of wine passed by on a tray, and she snatched it to make herself look as if she were enjoying this event. She was, honestly, but not as much as she wanted to.
Her position was not noticed as guarding, but she was. She kept her eyes on all of her 'children.' Keeping close attention to Cilian and Anna, and then on to Victoria. An actual sigh passed Chelle's lips when Victoria chose to lean against a wall after the dance. Perhaps the Queen was not the only one feeling lonely.
Setting her glass upon a passing tray, she crossed the dance floor to greet Victoria and offer her hands.
"Let's dance. This is supposed to be fun... but," she paused, her offer for the dance still present.
"You seem as if something is troubling you, my dear," her voice was but a whisper.
Chelle had not known Victoria for long, but she was one of the only people she payed close attention to. Victoria was one of her children, even if business came first most of the time.
The Queen smiled to the Princess, her attention no longer watching over The Prince and his wife.
