John Monty, telekinetic physics student
JOHN MONTY
TELEKINETIC PHYSICS STUDENT
Basic Biography |
Real Name: John Monty Renegade/Hero/Villain Name: N/A Title: N/A Alignment: True Neutral Age: 24 Gender: Male Race: Caucasian (Species: Human) Hair: Blonde Eyes: Blue Height: 6'2" Weight: 155 pounds Blood type: O- |
The Looks |
John's six foot, two inch tall frame possesses the lean musculature of a fit but not overly athletic individual. His skin is fair, both through heritage and habit, and he often considers going out to tan before his studies take over once again. Equally as fair is his hair, combed straight and cut short in a simple Caesar. His face is relatively narrow, with a firm jawline and a pointed chin. Coupled with his stern browline and grey-blue eyes, this gives Monty a serious expression even when relaxed, contrary to his personal opinion that he's not a particularly serious individual. |
The Legacy |
Personality: Wroth, he is cold, selfish, apathetic. Content and in the company of friends, he is generous and understanding. In either extreme, he remains observant and often prideful to the point of arrogance, though he can afford a self-depreciating sense of humor among friends. History: As a child, John entertained delusions of grandeur, aspiring at first to become a Power Ranger, soon followed by the more reasonable goal of being a firefighter and police officer (simultaneously). All those who live, change, and so too did John as he worked his way through the public school system. Being one of the more intellectually inclined students, John was soon driven to boredom as his elementary years passed and the mildly entertaining and admittedly childish projects were replaced with instructors preaching of the difficulty ahead of them and the need to mature. John began to neglect his work, sleeping or daydreaming in his classes, only ever on the same plane of existence as the rest of the world during tests, most of which he passed, others he didn't. John developed an uncanny ability to read people, from their posture and tone at first, and some unknown variables later. It would not be until he spent a few years in college that he would realize it was a supernatural ability, and not mere observation. As the years dragged on in melancholy, John's aspirations, both reasonable and not, left him. Broken in spirit and will, he let the faults of the schooling system carry him to highschool before dropping out, much to the woe of his family. Locking himself in his room, he began his independent studies, the knowledge of the world at his fingertips, a mouse click away. John eventually entered a jump start program of sorts, working his way towards college again. Sometime in his first college years, John's telekinetic abilities manifested during one of many drunken stupors as he explained elementary physics to his flat mates using pong balls. It came as a surprise to the lot of them, but was subsequently forgotten by all but John during the morrow's hangover. Toying with his powers in the dark of night, the superhuman John went on to receive his bachelor's degree before leaving the university. |
The Powers |
Power 1: Telekinesis - 7 Ability John has the ability to manipulate the physical world through the application of force using nothing but his mind. Power 2: Empathic Aptitude - 1 Ability Empathic aptitude lends John an innate understanding of emotions and the ability to read them. In a way, it is not too dissimilar to minor telepathy, though it is emotions that are read and not thoughts. For most, it serves their day to day desires, allowing them to determine the truth of a statement told by an inexperienced liar or one who feels incredibly emotional over something, as well as get a basic sense of how co-workers, friends, or secret loves feel toward the user or others, so long as relevant actions are taken to illicit the appropriate emotion. Power 3: Enhanced Intelligence - 8 INT As his other powers grew, so too did John's intelligence. While it now rivals most beings, he is still trying to get a feel for it. You don't need to spend the 2 points in Occult at all. The first 3 levels of Int and Occ equate for each other meaning that your character has 3 Occult already thanks to the Intelligence. The first wealth point is also free. You currently have 27 points spent. Also the telekinesis cannot be used to pick up others' characters without their permission.

Ah, all right. I must have missed the sticky with that information.Forcie wrote:You don't need to spend the 2 points in Occult at all. The first 3 levels of Int and Occ equate for each other meaning that your character has 3 Occult already thanks to the Intelligence.
I did, however, keep in mind that the first point of wealth is free. I have 28 points spent, following the changes to Occult.Forcie wrote:The first wealth point is also free. You currently have 27 points spent.

Of course.
I'll edit my power grid to fix the matter with Occult. Would it be possible to leave my remaining two points unspent, or add one to my Ability (for a split between telekinesis at 8 and empathic aptitude at 1, not to achieve demigod tier)? My character concept would not benefit from an extra point in a physical stat or wealth.

Re: John Monty, telekinetic physics student
You don't have to spend all 30. You can add in what you haven't spent at a later time.

That is good to hear.
However, I still need an answer for this question, specifically the part after the 'or'.

I've noticed other characters have powers totaling to ten Ability, with no individual power beyond 8, but I am not sure whether that was through experience gain or point spending.

No stat can start above 8. You gain more through experience. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

That was what I initially figured. Thank you for the clarification.
I have updated my power grid in accordance with the rules regarding Occult and Intelligence. The remaining two points shall remain unspent for the time being.
