The Legacy

Personality: Vaïnar was born into a clan of highly skilled craftsmen and thus accomplishement and proving oneself was the objective of many. But this internal competition between the clan's member was mainly because the best craftsman was sent to the noble clans and become their Master Craftsman. For that reason, Vaïnar is a dedicated man who take the required amount of time, patience and hardwork to complete whatever crafting work he does.

Vaïnar is also humble sometimes, because his art requires him to be since arrogant artisan are the one who do the least magnificent work. But even so, he is sometimes immature in the sense that the codes and rules of the clan, which are no more on Earth, allow him to behave in a way he thinks suits this newly found liberty. But even more so, Vaïnar is someone to be trusted because loyalty is a valor very important to him.

Finally, he is also honest and lies are only used in case of great necessity. He is not capable of malice, but mischief is, from time to time, done in a comical way. On a side note, he loves Italian food.

History: Born on Tresk'ri, Vaïnar was born amongst the Mortath Clan, in the Merigan family. Their clan had the greatest craftsmen of all the Darthirii, or some of the greatest but they were acknowledged as such. They were no archers, even though they knew how to defend themselves fairly well. Of course, the families in the clan had to choose a member that would face the other craftsmen so the one with the greatest skills would serve as Master Craftsman for a noble family. But the supreme accomplishment was to serve a royal family. Thus, everyone always focused on that primary goal and, if they failed, they would serve a noble family instead. It was only natural that competition was a part of their lives.

But as Vaïnar grew older, the others looked at him with curiosity. Because the crafting required the use of magic, but Vaïnar never used any. Instead, he crafted odd weapons that used mechanisms and not magic to function. He was eventually confronted by the Clan's council and the conclusion was that the Elf could not use magic of any kind and was branded Lil Cha'kohkev, the cursed. He was kept within the clan, who continued to supply the Elvish forces with fine weapons and armors, but Vaïnar Merigan was forbidden to be able to claim the Master Craftsman title. Interesting enough he didn't mind, focusing mainly on how he could master the art of steelworking and steamworking into his art. He was extremely bright amongst his people. But then the Strange Ones came.

These ruthless beings started destroying the Elven world, causing the population to flee to the major cities to get protection. But even that wasn't enough. Even the war waged against them wasn't enough. The last solution had to be taken. Send on other planets able to sustain life the few that remained, or some of them. Vaïnar knew of this and was able to design his own casket. He programmed it for a planet chosen by many : Earth. Vaïnar was able to be sent off like the others and he made it safely to Earth while his homeworld was destroyed despite the great fighting his people had given. But Vaïnar's landing was off from the original coordinates, and he landed in what was known to man as the Americas. His stasis was also interrupted briefly, causing him to age a very few years, many one or two, but he remained asleep, waiting for somebody to press the awakening button.
