The Looks

Ryo has a slender muscular frame, with long straight black hair and dark brown eyes. He has long slender fingers and thin lips. He has no costume, though upon arriving in a country he typically themes his dress with the country. (Such as a cowboy-esque outfit for America.) Regardless, all his outfits are tailored to be loose enough to fight in.

The Legacy

Personality: Ryo finds the concepts of good and evil to be meaningless, but he does adhere to a strict warrior's code. He will not fight an outnumbered opponent, or a defenseless one. He has on occasion fought alongside heroes, but he is just as likely to align himself with villains if it gives him the chance to fight a powerful opponent. Of course, his blade is not easily bought and his strict since of honor can make it a very dangerous situation for Villains who would try to use his power. He is completely dedicated with combat, and lives only to grow stronger and find worthy opponents. He respects those that practice the martial arts, but is openly disdainful of those that use weapons or abilities to compensate for a lack of fighting skill. He is especially wary of guns and anyone who uses these "crude instruments"

Surprisingly, outside of combat he is relatively laid back. He is always quick to share a smile and have a good time, though he abstains from alchohol and anything else that would affect his perception. He is more than a bit flirtatious, and always has room for a little romance with anyone he finds attractive regardless of gender. These romances range everywhere from one-night stands to long-term commitments, and he has actually married multiple times and remained faithful until he inevitably outlived his partner.

History: Ryo was born in 1551 in Japan's Owari province as the son of a respected samurai. Tall and strong, with a natural talent for swordplay Ryo quickly surpassed those around him. He gained much respect and notoriety while fighting for Nobunaga. However, with Nobunaga's death and the firearm being introduced into Japan Ryo felt that the days of what he considered honorable combat in warfare were numbered. Disenchanted, he one day simply vanished from the castle he called home. Taking only his swords and a single set of clothes, he began to wander in search for the meaning he felt his life had lost. During this time he traveled under different names and had numerous adventures, which are the stuff of legend now. He eventually found himself at the doorstep of a hidden monastery in China, though Ryo has never divulged the exact location. Upon attempting to gain entry he was attacked, but his skill in defending himself earned him a spot as a student there. He spent a lifetime there, learning from warrior monks and master swordsmen.

Just as in Japan, his potential seemed limitless and he quickly surpassed those around him. He soon became second only to the master, and was taught the secret techniques for utilizing one's own life force in combat to knock out or even kill a man without even touching him. He eventually became determined to master the one technique he had yet to learn from his master: "The Immortal Body." This technique grants immortality through perfect control of one's life force. Ryo shut himself in an empty room, and meditated for years. When he emerged, in a much younger body, he had been successful. However he found the monastery empty and in a state of disrepair. He never found out what fate befell his home, nor did he try. Instead, reasoning that with the master gone and him having been next in line, he helped himself to the secret scrolls hidden within the building. He pored over the ancient texts, fascinated by clues left about a legendary sword. He spent the next millennium following clues and legends, until he found the weapon: A legendary blade called Gentou.

By the time his journey was complete, Ryo himself had become the legendary "perfect swordsman" having never been struck by another opponent in battle. After obtaining the blade, he set out again on a search for a legendary weapon. One only whispered of in ancient legends, that Ryo believes he can use to ascend to true godhood. In his travels after first obtaining Gentou, he became known as "The sheathed blade." Not because of his style or stance, but because in the years after obtaining Gentou he never drew his sword. He took out all his opponents without needing to due so, and claimed he had not yet found an opponent worthy of drawing his blade. He now continues his travels, searching for strong opponents as well as clues to the weapon he seeks.

The Powers

Power 1: Ki Manipulation: Ryo can manipulate his ki energy to the point that he can materialize it outside of his body, and cause physical damage with it. He can also sense the ki of others, which makes him more able to read his opponents moves.
