Personality: Hartley is a pretty relaxed guy, and usually gets along with everyone he meets. He’s outgoing and intelligent, though he doesn’t express it sometimes. He doesn’t get mad very often, but when he does, it is difficult to calm him down. At first glance he may appear immature, but when the time comes he knows to get serious. His self esteem isn’t great, due to being harassed in his childhood, but the one thing he is confident about is his appearance.

History: Patrick Hartley MacArthur was born and raised in Massachusetts, living most of his childhood in a town called Natick. His family was relatively wealthy, so he was able to get a lot of what he wanted. He always did well in school, but unfortunately he didn’t have many friends. In middle school, he got into so many fights that his parents transferred him to an all boys private middle school. The children at this school harassed Patrick constantly, and he got into many fights because of this. After graduating from that school, he moved to a private boarding high school in New Hampshire. After about two thirds of his first year, he was expelled and sent home. Then, going to a new public school, he decided to change himself a bit. Patrick decided to start going by his middle name, Hartley, and started smoking weed. He was harassed much less at this school, blending into the crowd and avoiding attention. Hartley then met Andrew Pettiglio, and they quickly became best friends. The two of them watched the news about all the super powered people in the world all the time, wishing they had powers of their own. Little did Hartley know that his best friend would become the hero Phoenix. Andrew eventually went off to New York for college, and Hartley stayed at home and took a year off from school. While Andrew was off fighting crime as Phoenix at night, Hartley trained himself in archery, and he found he was surprisingly talented in a very short amount of time. Before he knew it, he knew everything about archery and being a marksman. He built his own custom bow and arrows, and crafted throwing knives and shuriken. Finally he built his mask, which would help him to see at night and other things. Once he thought he was ready, Hartley went out into the night under the guise of The Golden Archer, and fought crime. On his fifth outing, he was fighting an assassin hired to kill him, and they both fell from the building. Hartley was sure he was going to die, but before he could tell what was going on, he was soaring through the air. Golden, feathery wings had sprouted from his back to save him. Unfortunately for the assassin, Hartley didn’t fully grasp the situation until it was too late, and the man had already hit the ground. Hartley felt terrible, and vowed never to be responsible for another death. With his new wings, he changed his hero name to Seraph, another word for angel. During the reverse dimension catastrophe, Hartley saw Holocaust reveal himself to the world as Andrew Pettiglio, and couldn’t believe what he saw. Luckily, the real Andrew Pettiglio showed up on the scene and revealed himself as well, showing Hartley the truth. He was shocked. Hartley took off in the direction of New York, but by the time he got there, Phoenix had gone back to Massachusetts to save his family. Hartley turned around, but was again too late, arriving just as he saw his friend’s mustang pull away. Finding Andrew’s family dead left him appalled, and wanting to be there for his friend. Once again he flew to New York, and once again was too late. His friend had killed Holocaust and sacrificed his life for the city. Hartley helped with the aftermath of the ordeal, and for months he was devastated by the loss of his best friend. After a while, he started to hear rumors of the return of Phoenix, so he has set off to New York City to see if there is any truth to what he’s heard.

Powers: Hartley has an incredibly high intellect, allowing him to build high tech arrows and weapons. He also has superhuman speed and a higher durability than the average human. His fighting and marksmanship skills are also superhuman, as is his reaction time. Hartley has retractable wings which allow him to fly at speeds a little faster than his running.
