Age: 22
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Hair: Brown

Personality:
Roger is, by nature, a believer. He believes that soliders protect the weak. He believes that people are inherently good. He is very simple in this sense; finding a cause and then doggedly planting himself alongside it to the end. One effect of this trait is that he is, suprisingly, an optimist; despite everything, he retains a cheerful optimism that seems out of place with the reality of the world. Raised well by his parents, Roger is also unfailingly, sometimes infuriatingly, polite.

History:
Roger Hanley was a particularly unspectacular man for most of his life. He was born in Birmingham, England, and here he spent his early life. He was at best a C-grade student for every subject apart from sports (where he excelled), worked a part time job in a bicycle parts warehouse in the summer, and with very few better opportunities, he joined the Royal Marines after finishing his final year of schooling. He was happy there; the ordered, controlled lifestyle giving him a purpose he hadn’t ever felt before. Back home, his parents (Enid and Raymond) would boast of their son, the soldier; his career was a source of great pride to them, as nearly every other lad from the run-down tower block where they lived was doing... well... nothing. Nothing legal, anyway.
Roger could have... perhaps would have... spent the rest of his life content as a lowly Private in the Royal Marine Corps. He was an unambitious sort, happy to receive and execute the orders of his superiors; something which, over the years, earned him the respect of his comrades and superiors alike.
Eventually, however, soldiers are called upon to fight. Roger was called to duty at the close of the year 2023; the Third Falklands War had begun.

The war for the desolate Falklands Islands are a matter of record; however, Roger’s service record remains sealed under the Official Secrets Act. It is believed, though unproven, that exposure to the unsanctioned biological weapon VDX-20 during a particularly fierce battle affected Hanley in some way... giving him enhanced strength, speed and durability. Indeed, this is the publicly available story behind the origin of the UK’s first super-soldier; codename Britannic.

Roger Hanley was no longer a faceless army grunt; he was stronger, faster, and incredibly resilient. In short, he was superhuman.

In the years following these events, the asset codenamed “Britannic” has been deployed around the world in defence of Her Majesty’s interests. Most recently, he is being prepared for a mission to the United States; ostensibly to lend support to Britain’s oldest ally after the trials of recent times...

((Some pieces of Britannic’s backstory are being left deliberately vague; I know what they are, but I hope to use them as plot devices in future so didn’t want to lay everything out on the table now!))

Powers: Britannic is an enhanced human. His muscle density is considerably higher than a normal human, and his twitch responses are noticeably higher- giving him low-level superhuman strength and reflexes. His brain chemistry seems to have been altered slightly since his injury; now being driven to train relentlessly and run through combat drills time and again when all others have left for home. although only a young man, Britannic has logged more time in simulated combat roles than any other serving British soldier. Hisnumber of successful deployments has also risen steadily since his “creation”, making him incredibly popular with the ‘normal’ soldiers he serves alongside.

Apart from this, it is noticeable that Britannic has no special skills. He can use a laptop with about as much skill as any other 20-year old, but won’t be hacking the Pentagon’s systems any time soon. He can work out his taxes, but won’t be joining MENSA. He is muscle, blunt force... an asset to be used as needed. But Roger Hanley, for all his simplicity, is a man with a conscience; something which his creators will likely grow frustrated with over time.

Power Grid:

STR: 4
SPD: 4
END: 4
INT: 2
EP: 0
FS: 6

Power Grid colours: Blue, White, Red

Roleplay Sample:

They come in faster than I was expecting.

Six men, heavily armed. Matte-black carbines. Body armour. They move well; I can read hours of practice in their body language, and as they jump from the back of their Ford Transit into the weak glow of the street-light I can see that each is loaded with hand-grenades, knives, pistols and other tools of their trade.

They haven’t got a clue what they’re dealing with.

It’s so simple to step forward, and put the heel of may hand through the stock of the first man’s rifle. They move so slowly... was I ever like them? I twist away, broken plastic and sheared metal falling from his hands. Before the next can even raise his weapon, I hurl the first man through the air. There is a crunch, and both collapse to the ground, senseless.

Four men left.

The night is just getting started.

Just so you know, you used only 20 points when you can have 22 on your grid. If you did this for a specific reason I can approve this. Just want you to know about this before hand.

Thanks for the heads up, but I didn't want him to be any more powerful than he is. Going for more Captain America than Superman! Very Happy
