The darklight [Closed to Isak]

The large room hung within a suspended silence,Elena purveying the massive arena that she had me just for a single purpose. It was an expansive area with large white walls painted white that gave a sort of illusion that the room was larger than it actually was,though it was still pretty large.

This was to be the place that she trained her young apprentice,where Isak would learn to master his magic and become a useful mage to the house Thames that she now controlled. His elemental magic showed promise and that meant that Elena could begin to train him an actual combat situation but not against herself who could easily overpower him. There would be others that would prove an adequate challenge f he actually put all that he learned into practice,though she knew that he was not ready for a real combat situation. That would be his downfall if he even tried such a thing.

Green eyes scanned the large room as she considered who she would have spar with him,someone not too powerful. Maybe Michael could test him as long as he only used close range weapons. Maybe she could send the immortal Marian to test him,see if he could survive long enough and avoid being cut to ribbons by her deadly blade. There were others but some were just overkill when going up against someone like Isak.

Sitting herself down upon a small bench she had placed and waited for Isak to come to the large room under the Shade base. He had a message left for him next to his bed stating that today he would be training,Elena choosing to do this before she officially made him a full member of Shade with access to all of their resources. Each member had proven their worth before they joined and he would have to as well,there would be no exceptions;even for her pupil.

”in the end I guess you just seem the best choice Michael.”She spoke as the short Asian man seemed to appear from nowhere with a katana in hand,what seemed like a faint blue aura about the blade.

”I'll try not to kill him.' He said smirking as he twirled the weapon in his hand,the way he went about it was skillful as if he had done this his entire life. Sitting next to Elena he waited for the young man to arrive, fully aware that this room was far more than it appeared to be. It was the perfect place for anyone to train.

Days, or weeks it should be said, after he was rescued, if this was the right word, by Elena Marie, Isak was brought to New Orleans, which wasn't really next to New York but everything, namely details and planning, was done by the one he had to call Master from that moment on. Of course, his parents were told he was chosen for some program, he forgot what he was told it was, and Isak had to move to Louisiana. Luckily for him, his father and mother seemed happy Isak was in something for study instead of doing nothing. Not that nothing implied encountering strange people but still, Isak was moving to Louisiana, New Orleans to be exact. La Nouvelle-Orléans, founded by the French, handed over to the Spanish and finally sold to the Americans, this city was a great place to go. Of course, many hurricanes and floods had knocked this city down over the years, but its inhabitants always got back up to rebuild. But many places made it look like a ghost town. In any case, Isak when to the location which was known as his ''new home'' for the program. There were also some crazy people working for her, but he haven't had much time to interact with them so far.

That being said, Isak had a room of his own there. It was fairly simple for the furnitures : a bed, some cloakroom for his stuff, no TV for the moment, and the colors were rather neutral. But it was still cozy. And as Isak got back to his room after some errands, he found a note on his bed. The master was telling him to go at the given location for training. Training? Isak was happy to read that. He would get the chance to show his skills. Sure he was still floppy on the edges, but magic wasn't something you could learn in a few days, but Isak had all the time to train, which he tried to do. It paid off, since he could control fairly well some tricks he learned, but the hightest spells were still hard to master. One thing Isak thought of, as he was on his way for training, is that his medical condition could be quite useful. On the downside, this could be potentially be very dangerous since not feeling pain could cause him some very serious injuries.

He arrived minutes later to a door. He opened the door and a bright, white, light welcomed him. Blinded at first, his eyes got used to this setting and he went in, closing the door behind him. In the room, his master, Elena Marie, and a man, were sitting on a bench. The young man approached them, bowing his head when he arrived near the woman.

-Good day Master. Sorry for the.... euhm. delay.

He looked at the man, but he didn't rang a bell in his head. He looked at his master, then the man, then his master and finally asked who he was.

-Is he my.... partner for today's training? Nice to meet you sir, I'm Isak.

He offered his hand for a shake, since manners were not forgotten even though he was far from home. And it was a good day to break the silence of the room.

Elena let Isak get through the minor pleasantries,manners which were not lost upon her as all students should show a degree of respect to their mentors. Michael shook the young mans hand back before placing it within his pocket and scanning the young man as if he were an open book,something that he was good at if anything. Even when he were alive that was a skill that he had learned very well in the business world. Now with this new body he was now as deadly as he was brilliant,and that made him the perfect general for the Shade army that she was slowly amassing. There were her lieutenants but this man was the pinnacle of her combat forces. Sure the members could equal if not best him,he was a success within his own rights.

”Good day Isak,don't worry yourself. You left me with plenty of time to prepare this place for you.” She said with a smile upon her lips as Michael seemed to shift in his seat in anticipation,as if expecting her to soon explain what his role was within this whole thing. He of coursed asked who Michael was,though that was an easy enough question to answer. She would let him answer since this was more directed towards him than it was her,even if his personality seemed somewhat altered since she had last seen him years ago. Michael at first had not forgiven her for what she did to bring him back,he eventually did so with the right amount of coaxing.

”Yes, i'll be the one you will train with today if that is no problem with you.” Michael said directing his attention from the floor to the young man with mild interest,mostly to see if what Elena had taught him would do any good against someone like him. Michael as far as he knew was physically superior to the child as well as possibly had the reflexes to outmaneuver whatever he could throw if he tried. Sure he would have to hold back to keep himself from killing Elena's apprentice but that did not mean that he would not have himself a little fun if he wanted to. This was after all a training exercise,not a baby sitting session. Jabbing the tip of his sword into the ground,steel easily slid through the earth as if it were made of butter,going hilt deep into it. With that done he stood to his feet with a swift motion that seemed to fast for anyone not fully paying attention to his movements.

”I'll be ready whenever you are young man. Just try not to go easy on me,because I have no intentions of going easy on you.” He said this while striding past Isak until he were a good twenty meters away from him. He pulled what looked like a small piece of wood,though with a flick of his wrist it extended into a full staff,a strange blue aura covering it. ”You go first.” Elena watched with anticipation as the duel was about to begin.

As he looked at this man playing with his sword, Isak thought he might have to face someone skilled in close combat. But he went away and took some weird staff. Well, Isak thought of it as weird since it was the first word that came to his mind. But Isak also thought about not underestimating this man. His confidence was probably a sign of him being strong. In any case, Isak walked away from the bench and kept the distance that man had put between them. He was far, far enough for Isak to throw some magic at him, but that distance was also enough to allow his partner to dodge. But this room was big enough to run around. Not to mention the light. Isak frowned. The light. He could use it at his advantage. Isak started to do a little warm-up. Nothing fancy, but just activate the blood circulation. He took a deep breath and looked at his partner to give him the thumbs up. And he smiled as he walked to reduce the distance to about half of what it was before. Isak looked around. That should do it, he thought, then he looked at his partner and a second later, he disappeared. The spell, Blink, would help him prepare a viable strategy as he walked around his adversary slowly. Being too fast could ruin his spell.

He positioned himself at the left of him, and he had to be quick. Being slow while planning a strategy would make him lose. He had to act quickly, at least let the man do something. If that man attacked, he would use the barrier spell, but if he went in the wrong direction, Isak would throw either a fireball or a light bolt. Or maybe a more powerful spell. Isak shook his head, that would be a waste and he needed to be sure of the odds before unleashing a powerful attack. Isak took a combat stance appropriate to the magical fighting style and he waited for the man to make a move, with either a barrier or an offensive spell.

*Okay.... I hope I won't screw up. The Master probably has high hope for me. She probably thinks I'll get a draw at best.... Man... This is exciting in a way... But focus Isak, focus now.*
