Abilities:

Superior Intelligence - Badgers are well known for their above average intelligence in the animal kingdom and Bernard far exceeds this basic intelligence with a much more acute and logical form of intellect. This heightened intelligence has allowed him the gift of speech and the 'ability' to walk on his hind legs, not that he does. Through his many years alongside Cornelius Caster and sneaking into various lectures the badger has gained a highly impressive mind that far exceeds many humans. Unlike Cornelius, Bernard focuses on the logistics, raw data and patterns that span across society and is capable of easily working out mathematical equations and formulas with barely any stress.

Empathy (1 EP) - Bernard is capable of sensing someone else’s emotions usually in the form of a taste of smell, for example fear would be a rotting smell whereas love and devotion would smell of something sweet, like honey! Due to his animalistic instincts these are far more potent than a human with empathy. Even in his Feral form the rabid Bernard is capable of discerning between friends and foes simply due to this animalistic empathy.

Feral beast mode (2 EP) - In the case that he or his allies face possible danger Bernard will transform into a much more rabid and feral form, a form with a considerable boost in strength all at the cost of his great intellect. Bernard loses consciousness and allows his 'inner beast' to take over thus making him much more savage and violent. This form has incredible amounts of raw strength and stamina and combined with his natural weapons, teeth and claws Benard can prove to be quite dangerous for anyone unprepared. This ability lasts 5 posts.

History: Bernard was born a normal badger, the runt of all the cubs and lived a fairly average badger life until he innocently wandered in between a large scale battle between two Magical metahumans. The curious young mammal was exposed to their strange aura's and by the time two rowdy rivals had killed each other the badger had somehow absorbed a small fraction of their abilities. Bernard soon became a self-aware creature, one whose mind had expanded beyond the simple notions of eating and sleeping, he could now create extremely complicated algorithms and formulas and was intelligent enough to outsmart a whole horde of natural predators, hunters and the occasional thug.

Bernard however stil retained his curious nature and managed to teach himself mathematics and astronomy after sneaking under the floorboards of Oxford university, if it weren't for his obvious physical difference to the other students the mammalian mastermind would have passed with flying colours. Eventually the curious creature came into the jovial attention of the traveling sage, Cornelius Caster. The two, awestruck with each other, instantly became good friends, constantly learning and foraging for food...or whiskey and if they were to ever face possible trouble their respective gifts went hand in hand, Cornelius twisting the environment whilst a rabid Bernard would dispatch them with a swipe of his paw.

Bernard is the only 'person' that the extremely independent gypsy child, Amélie. pays attention to and he is lovingly called 'Monsiuer Blaireau' by the excitable child an in turn acts as her loving pet and devoted guard.
