Costume Description/Image: When he chooses to wear a special costume (as opposed to civvies), Claude sports a black leotard with silver bands at the cuffs and collar and a stylized silver-and-red foxtail running down his right leg. Claude always wears dark steel-toe boots, to utilize Savate de rue.

Personality: Claude is a young, energetic man who prefers his own company. Claude likes nothing better than listening to high-energy dubstep mixes while running aimlessly to a place where he has never before been. While a loner, Claude is not gruff, and once someone has earned his trust, Claude is a loyal companion.

Earning his trust is something else. Claude is somewhat of an anarchist. He has a code of honor, but it differs from most individuals, as Claude is willing to work against the system for what he perceives as the greater good. Anyone who wants to be his friend will have to have a similar world view.

History: Claude Renault was born into a working class Paris household. Life was rough, as Claude was constantly troubled by gang members as a young man. To toughen up he took to studying Savate de rue, a brutal French martial art. He also devoted a great deal of time to practicing Parkour, or free running.

Claude originally discovered his powers when he was in a melee started by Algerian gangsters. As he ran through a gauntlet of assailants, he kept on picking up speed, streaking past them. Time seemed to slow as he deftly avoided a flurry of blows from machetes and chains. Claude was able to maneuver his opponents against one another until he made his escape. The young man then spent a year on his own discovering the current extent of his powers.

Claude makes a living now as a freelancer. He operates under the moniker LeRenEc, and will work for heroes or villains. He's slightly more heroic than villainous, though.

Claude is somewhat untested, and his biggest priority right now is to find a mentor who can train him and introduce him to influential circles of heroes/villains.

Powers: Claude's powers mostly come from his body. Very quick, agile and hardy, Claude would be the greatest athlete of any other age. His Energy Projection Power relates to his speed. When running at high speed, Claude begins to absorb heat from the friction of the atmosphere. He can redirect this energy as an energy beam. If he chooses not to fire a blast, the heat is bled into the air around him, for all intents and purposes doing nothing. This power can activate if Claude is underwater and running, or if he is in a high-speed situation like a free-fall or standing on top of a moving train.

I'd like for Claude's power to step up at EP 3 or higher, where the heat can be channelled through his body to increase his speed to crazy fast levels. Ideally, this guy is going to be the Quicksilver or Flash of this universe.

Character Image/Description: Claude is of medium build, with well-defined musculature. He has light white skin with blue eyes. His hair is black with gray at the temples and some gray at the widow's peak. His overall appearance would be closest to a young version of DC's Black Adam.

Roleplay Sample: As the three thugs advanced, Claude took quick stock of their formation and then dashed into action. Claude slowed somewhat as he neared the gap between the first and third henchmen. The first swung his chain at Claude's head savagely. Claude ducked, gripped the chain with both hands and spun, swinging his opponent into the center foe. The two collided with a satisfying thud and pained grunts as the air escaped their lungs.

The third thug was already in the air, coming down on Claude with a K-Bar knife aimed at his heart. Claude was able to duck to the side swiftly, and then strike the falling man hard in the back with his elbow. The last grunt fell and did not move.

Claude's satisfaction at his work was interrupted as a vicious bare-handed strike sent him flying. The young man crashed into the street and was barely able to roll to avoid breaking his neck. The blow could have only come from the man he was sent to neutralize, Maelor.

The beastly man bellowed at his prone opponent wildly and ran at him. Claude gained his feet and dashed away. Maelor was armed with a gun, so Claude's speed advantage was minimized severely. As he weaved a path to distract Maelor's aim, a plan formed in Claude's mind.

The familiar heat of his run began building first on Claude's skin and then penetrating to his core. After it built, Claude began firing. Streaks of air distorted by incredible heat shot back towards Maelor, who showed surprising deftness in avoiding them. Claude continued shooting, slyly setting up Maelor's path until he passed a manhole. Claude blew a hole in the sewer cover, creating his trap. The giant behind him did not notice until his foot was caught and his ankle snapped on his way down to the jagged asphalt.

Maelor roared inarticulate curses at his pain while Claude reversed course by running up and down the wall of a nearby building, zoomed back to Maelor and hit the rising man in the chin with his knee, knocking him cold. Claude activated his mobile once he confirmed that his target was unconscious.

“Se moi, Codex. It is done. You'll want to send your men as soon as possible, as delivery was not part of the contract. I'll expect payment within thirty minutes.” Claude hung up without awaiting a response and began to run towards the horizon to find what the next day would bring.

So, I read in your 'Howdy' topic that this is just the preliminary version of LeRenEc? If so, I'll leave this untouched etc.. just commenting on it to get a yay or neigh toward completion..

I mean preliminary in that I haven't had it looked at by a Mod. I've left a lot of the history and such vague in case I wrote something that conflicted with canon.

BTW, aboot how long does it take to get approved?

Hmn. The speed cap with your added power will have to be discussed, but as long as his speed isn't ridiculous, I'm sure it can be compromised and discussed. (:

All I gotta say is I wish you had pictures of what he semi-looked like. It'd be interesting.

My thought on channeling his heat power into speed would increase maximum speed by 2x or 1.5x, but would drain his heat blast reserves.

Well, tbh, I've thought it over, and I'm going to cripple your idea, because it's not fair.

If you increase your speed, which if you've read the power level equivalents, is excessively fast as it is, that's a no go. I would say that you could use a burst of excess speed that boosts your speed for one slim attempt at escaping sticky situations that require a fast getaway, but if I were you, I'd just use you Energy based power to either:

A) Boost your speed momentarily to get away from situations hastily

or

B) Store up energy for an attack.

With only 2 EP, however, the attacks you use energy wise would be minimally effective.

Personally, your character with a 2 EP healing factor would be lovely, considering 7 SPD is maxed out at 500 MPH.
