Obscure walked into a bar near his mansion, hoping to drink away at least some of his painful memories. He sat at the bar and ordered a whiskey on the rocks. It was good and smooth, and being Obscure's first alcoholic beverage, it made him significantly drunk. It did not however, make him forget. More. He ordered another and drank it down. The memories persisted. "More." He downed another, and the memories began to fade. "MORE!" He was becoming unruly, but the bartender hesitantly filled his glass again. After gulping it down, he slammed the glass on the bar, then ran for the restroom. Once inside, he was unable to make it to a toilet before vomiting, and he spewed on the floor and walls instead. He went to a sink, rinsed off, and went back to the bar. He whispered in a harsh voice, "More.... please." He noticed a black-haired, fairly attractive woman sitting next to him in a seat that was formerly unoccupied. The alcohol made him more social than normal, and he asked, "So what's your poison, miss?"

My poison? I would appreciate a shot of vodka if you could buy that for me... said Samantha to the strange looking man who pulled up beside her. She could tell that he was a light-weight who seemed to be drinking for the first time in his life. That didn't detract from the obvious fighting skill he had, even drunk, she could tell this man was ready for action. Today was one of her "social" days, Samantha was dressed in a sexy blue dress, ending around where a skirt would end, had heels on, and her hair was even all clean and glistening. This man seemed a bit strange, not like a regular New Yorker at all. Probably a tourist Samantha thought to herself. The music in the bar was blaring so she had to shout this next part, What's your name stranger? she inquired, hoping to start a conversation.

Obscure flagged down the bartender, asking for two shots of vodka, "Start up a tab if you would.". He slid one to the woman and took one himself. He decided he liked whiskey much better. "Call me Obscure, it's the only name I know. They gave it to me in the police academy... not that it matters." He sighed. The mention of the academy brought his memories back instantly. He needed more whiskey, but did not order yet. "What about you, you got a name or just a pretty face?" The comment on her looks surprised even him, but he did not regret asking.

Why, you're quite the flirt aren't you, my name is Samantha. Obscure, hmm, that is a nice name, said Samantha, being much more flirty after a few shots of Vodka. Shaking her head quickly she used her hydrokinetic powers to dull the intoxication from the vodka, she regained some of her senses but she was still obviously drunk. She decided to talk with the guy for a while, as he seemed polite and interesting enough. Well then Obscure, I think we should be friends, you seem nice, actually you are the only non-douchy jackass who has talked to me all evening. she said to the man. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a group of buffed out, "macho" guys walking towards her. "Hey girly, you up for some dancing?" said one of the thuggish looking men. Thanks, but no thanks Samantha said to him. "What if I want to dance?" said the big brute of a man as he grabbed her arm. That's not how it works. said Samantha as she clocked him in the jaw with enough force to knock his tooth out. "Oh girly you are in trouble!" yelled one of his goons, just as he was clocked in the gut with a water whip Samantha had made. "Damn, GIRL you gonna get WHIPPED!" screamed the other guy as he rushed her.

"Hm, speak of the devil," he said as three large, muscular men approached them. He was rather surprised to see the woman called Samantha hold her own quite easily, and was further surprised when she revealed her power as a hydrokinetic. He almost thought it was the liquor tricking his mind. Obscure knew there were other superhumans out there, but this was the first he had knowingly met. As the third man rushed Samantha, he was suddenly stopped in his tracks. He fell to the ground with a loud thud, his neck broken. Obscure had attacked much too fast to register more than a black blur to normal humans. Perhaps some of the more wary had seen a "shadow" attack the man, but nothing more. He ordered another whiskey and drank it down. "So where'd you learn that little water trick, if you don't mind me asking?" ((EDIT: ignore the dice roll below, I didn't mean to do that, oops!))

Let's just say I "inherited" that trick Obscure, what I wanna know is how you move that fast, you were barely visible. retorted Samantha to Obscure's question. Know noticing that the entire bar was looking at them, Sam sat down drank another shot and yelled Whate are you looking at?! towards the crowd, this made the crowd grudgingly go back to their drinking and dancing. She sloshed her drink around her cup a few times and remembered a few years back, when a girl was being ganged up on at a bar, as Sam was not there for the first few minutes, the woman got beat up. Within seconds Sam had busted the guys up and sent them flying out the window. It was infuriating seeing men treat women like trash, just infuriating. Having seen all the newest bars in this region, Sam decided to go to another one and said to Obscure, Well, I'm ditching this place, you can come with me. Her heels tapping on the floor she walked out and started heading towards "The Greenroom"

"Hm. 'Barely visible' is more than most can say, you've got some fast eyes. As for how I do it, I couldn't say, I've been this way since I can re--." Samantha's outburst caught him off guard. "--member..." He decided it was best to leave with her. He dropped down from the bar stool and followed his new acquaintance out of the building. Normally, he would have just gone home, but not this time. The alcohol made him want to know where this water-wielding woman was off to next, so he simply followed in curious silence.

Good thing you're coming with me Obscure, and from now on just call me Sam ok? said Samantha over her shoulder to her new friend, the one with the incredible reflexes. The bar she was headed towards, "The Greenroom", was on 22nd and Lex. Moving across the street, Sam opened her Iphone, made a call to the manager, got a spot for two reserved and walked into the bar. As soon as she walked into the bar she keeled over in pain. The reason for her pain was a strange presence, as her powers were derived from gods she was quite sensitive to magical disturbances. The disturbance felt so strange that even her guardian Kayuk was hurt for a while. A few of the guys rushed over to help her, but out of the corner of her eye she saw a stranger with a menacing aura around him. She caught a glimpse of him turning into a shadowy monster before passing out.

As the pair walked into the Greenroom, something overtook Sam and she fell to the ground in pain. A strange vibe came from a lumbering thug in the far side of the room, who began to change into a strange, shadowy beast. Reacting quickly, Obscure ran to Sam, picked her up, and ran full-speed to his mansion. He set her on an old, tattered cot and ran back to the bar to face the stranger, buster sword in hand. He arrived back at the Greenroom in a matter of seconds, and the creature charged at him as he entered. It attempted to jump, but far too slow. Obscure dodged to the left, then drove his sword through the beast as it flew past, pinning it to the door. It shrieked in agony from the large blade, and Obscure yelled, "What are you?!" as the thing changed back to its human form. He seemed to begin answering, but only succeeded in coughing up blood and then dying. Obscure withdrew the blade, then noticed that the liquor had worn off already. Hm. That didn't last long. What was left of the crowd stared in awe and terror. Obscure ran back to his mansion before they had a chance to react. He went to Samantha's side and waited for her to awaken.

SAM! SAM! Wake up! yelled Kayuk, the beaver god in her head. Snapping awake to see obscure had brought her to some old mansion, Sam said Thank you, I would have woken up you know, I was more in shock that a Ghoulish thing like that was just at a bar. I mean, DAMN, I knew weird shit happens in NYC but this is a bit off-putting. Sam stood up off the cot, and walked back and forth for a few seconds. I don't think he's the last of whatever these things are, though I don't wanna worry about it now. Sam stretched out walked across the room and asked You got any changes of clothes in here? she asked.

"No, sorry, I don't have any extra clothes. I wear this robe most of the time, and I didn't see the need for more clothes until now." He began to pace back and forth, dragging his buster sword on the thin carpet flooring, shredding it slowly. "So you have no idea what that thing was? I mean, that's not something you see every day, and you don't even seem worried!"

Well, I mean, I'm a super heroine, I deal with weird stuff all the time, that's why I'm not all that surprised. And I guess we could go look for more of these things. said Samantha as she walked up to the small bathroom, where she got enough water running, using her powers as the plumbing was since long gone, to clean her self off. Walking up to the window Sam looked out across NYC and saw the night-life raging across the various streets. All these people aren't safe while those things are crawling around, I think they might just be regular old monsters, out to kill and hunt. Sam said as she walked back and forth. Well then I think we should go looking for some, I think we should check out some of the other bars tomorrow, can I crash here? For the night of course? she inquired, this guy was nice, he would probably say yes.

"Hm. I guess I need to get out more often." He had to think for a second about what she meant by crashing, then realized she must mean she wanted to spend the night. "I see no reason you can't sleep here, as long as you have no objections to sleeping on the floor." He then lay in his bed, staring at the ceiling in another failed attempt to fall asleep.

Dropping onto the floor, Samantha nodded off. She dreamed of strange things, beasts prowling around NYC, terrorizing the various buildings. Sam was tired, and so when she woke up she continued to lie in on the floor, not doing anything.
