Roaring Phoenix.

"Ok, I finished my nightly round up. Time to go home." Phoenix said as he had just finished fighting off a group of thugs. As he started running through the rooftops of New York, he was suddenly surrounded by a group of armed men. "Woah, slow down guys, what's the problem?" Phoenix asked calmly. None of the same anything. Phoenix saw all their guns were on safety. He dashed at the closet one, and threw a kick to his head. Suddenly all he heard were clicks. "Aw shit, I'm way to close to people to use fire. Maybe just a little to scare them.?" Phoenix's mind raced, his heart pounded. In the heat of the moment he screamed and a fire roared around him. It wrapped around his arm like a serpent. The fire kept getting bigger, and hotter. "Fuck, I'm losing it." Phoenix thought. All the armed men stared in awe as a wave of fire started going crazy. "No! I can't let this happen!" Phoenix thought to himself. He tried with all his might to control the fire but it was too strong. A tsunami of fire crashed around the buildings, and Phoenix fell to his knees.

A man seemingly made entirely of flame flew down at the edge of the flames. He flew in mid air, a foot or so above the ground. He stuck out his hands and made gestures, and the fire began to condense and become contained. Quite soon, the fire was all gone, except a ball of it that flew into the man's hands. The man toyed with it before dissipating it. He looked at the armed men that had surrounded the young man who was on his knees. Most of them would be okay, the man had taken the proper precautions of some flame retardant clothing. That, and he made sure no flames actually touched them. Worst case, they received some first degree burns.

The man whispered into the 'earwig' in his ear.

"The objective has been obtained. Return to the warehouse. You'll all receive your payment."

The men then got up and ran off, and the man encased in flame approached the young man. The young man was on all fours, head facing the ground. The fire man reached a hand out. As the hand neared the young man, the fire receded, leaving a regular hand. The hand touched the young man's shoulders, and the young man looked up at the man covered in fire. He spoke with a very slight English accent.

"Stand up young man, everything is taken care of. I am DarkFire, a fire manipulator such as yourself. Except it seems you have not yet learned to control your powers. And that is where this bad day you seem to be having perks up. Come with me, and I will train you. What do you say?"

"you men you would do that for me?" Phoenix asked. "Please, I could really use some help I say yes"
Phoenix didn't really now the man, but somehow he trusted him. He felt good vibes from this kind man.
If he could learn to control his power, he would be happy.

"Of course I would. Anything to help a fellow fire manipulator reach his full potential. I would love to help you."

The man helped the young man up to his feet, then picked him up and flew off into the sky.

"We're heading to my penthouse, where you can sleep and eat and be trained. We should arrive in just a few moments."

Ten minutes later, the two landed on a outdoor rooftop patio. The man extinguished his fire to reveal he was dressed in a suit, dress shirt, tie, dress pants, and loafers. Amazingly, his clothing was untouched by the fire. He walked over to a sliding glass door. He opened it up, and invited the young man in.

"After you, my new apprentice."

Phoenix couldn't believe the mans kindness. "I can't thank you enough, this is what I wanted for so long. It feels unreal" Phoenix said. When he walked through the sweet doors the thought to himself. "You finally did it, you found someone to train you." As he got to thinking how impressive the mans fire manipulation was, and how he hoped to achieve that level one day.

The man closed the sliding glass door and stepped in.

"Before we do anything, we should get to know each other. I am Gregory William Laurie, or as my superhero name is, DarkFire. I am a seasoned fire manipulator. And I am here to help you."

DarkFire began walked over to a cabinet in his kitchen. He pulled out a small bag filled with poweder and walked back in carrying the small bag and a glass of water. He put a pinch of the powder into the water and stirred it, before handing it over to the young man.

Drink this, it will help you control your fire powers. Once your finished with that, tell me who you are.

"The fool! He's walked right into my trap. Soon I'll have him as evil as me! And all it will take is some superior intelligence and misuse of his trust. Perhaps he could become a sidekick of mine, helping me to scorch my foes and seize the world! Haha! All in due time."

Phoenix took the glass and gulped it down. "Thanks man." He said to Darkfire.
"Well, my name's Andrew Pettiglio I go by phoenix though. As you can tell I also manipulate fire, clearly not as well. He laughed.
"I also have supeespeed and super strength. I can stand among the best of them with a sword, and I can fight" Phoenix said. "I'm not trying to toot my own horn."
"I'm 18, a freshman over at the college, and I love rock music." Phoenix finished. "Well that's about it."

DarkFire watched as Andrew drank the water with the powder. The powder would help him control his powers, but it did more than that. It contained fluoride, which would help make the young man more compliant to the "Doctor's Orders." DarkFire then listened to Andrew tell him what he already knew. He had already known his name and that he went to the college. DarkFire had been watching him.

"Now that we're acquainted with one another, we can start your training. I find most people learn better by doing, rather than hearing. So for our first order of business, we're going to take care of some dirty police officers. You can run while I fly."

DarkFire walked out of the sliding glass door and off the edge of the patio area. He didn't fall however, he just hovered over the edge.

"It's quite a far way down, so I'll carry you. But from there, you run, I'll fly.

"No need my friend." Phoenix started sliding down the side of the building then running down the building. He screeched down to a halt at the bottom and tumbled over himself.. "Not a smart move, but I want to impress." Phoenix laughed. "You just lead the way, I'll be right behind you." Phoenix yelled uo to Darkfire. He was happy to be able to show off some of his fighting skills to Darkfire.

DarkFire raised an eyebrow at Andrew. He was mildly surprised at his ability to get down the tall building so fast.

"Very well then. Onward to the dirty cops."

DarkFire flew to a mainstreet and began flying down it, keeping pace with Andrew. All the while he thought.

"The fluoride should be working by now. He'll find it easier to do as I tell him, easier to accept what I say as fact. I'll slowly push him further and further into evil. Eventually, he won't be able to turn back."

DarkFire remembered that Andrew still needed to know how to control his fire, not just chemicals to help.

"What you should know, Andrew, is that you and fire are combined into one entity. You do not command the fire, you are the fire. You and the fire are equals, and it is an extension of your body. Work with the fire, let it go where it wants. But make where it wants to go where you want it to go. You can't just command it to go somewhere. We'll see how well you do."

DarkFire stopped and landed on the ground by six police cars. Police were leading mob members out of an Italian restaurant after a large sting operation. But that's not what he told Andrew.

"This kind of thing happens all the time. Police arresting innocent civilians that they plant 'evidence' on. It almost all the police ever do. You would think with the sheer amount of arresting innocent people the police do, the public would know, but the police is good as playing like they arrest criminals. I guess it's just not hard when you have a entire nation's government helping you. So what we are going to do is free these civilian and teach these cops what not to do. Are you with me, Andrew?"

Phoenix saw the cops pushing around the apprehended men and began to get furious."Oh, I'm with you Darkfire." He grit his teeth and flames started to circle his feet in a ring shape. "You think just because you wear that metal badge, you can treat these people like slaves?" Phoenix asked. "They are humans you know." The cop pointed his gun at Phoenix roared, as did the fire. Darkfire's advice was working. For the first time, he felt one with his fire. He felt a relationship, he felt the fire live and breathe. He put his hand up as if he were going to stop a car, and screamed. Extreme temperature fire blasted out at the cop. Then Phoenix turned to the other cops and created a wall of fire, which then turned into a wave of fire. Phoenix breathed out and the the fire engulfed the police officers. As teh fire started to surround the men in handcuffs, phoenix closed his hand and the fire went out into a trail of smoke. Suddenly Phoenix felt angrier, a lot more vengeful. 'Is anger a side effect of this stuff Darkfire?" Phoenix asked. "Also, did I pass your test?"

DarkFire watched as Phoenix quickly dispatched a at least two squad cars of police offices, all of whom would not get out of this without second and first degree burns. His fire was almost as strong as his. He was quite the pawn.

"You feel angry because of the wrong doings of those who are supposed to protect the innocent and uphold justice. The anger will go away as soon as they are."

The mob members in cuffs quickly ran over to the two who were there to help. Knowing what they wanted, DarkFire (who had already engulfed himself in flame's as his outfit) melted their cuffs off. They thanked the too, and ran off.

"You see how grateful those two were to be freed from those dirty cops? Doesn't it feel good to help? Now, let's help the rest of them."

As soon as DarkFire finished talking, more police took cover behind a squad car a yelled through a megaphone.

"Both of you superhuman criminals: Get down on your knees, put your hands behind your head, and we won't stack resisting arrest on top of assaulting an officer of the law."

Also heard coming from the cop car was radio static and repeated shouts of "We need reinforments at Romano's Restaurant. Two highly dangerous super humans are at the scene assaulting police officers."

DarkFire turned to Andrew.

"You take care of the police officers. I will work on freeing the civilians."

"No problem" Phoenix took cover behind a parked car. Looked his opponents over. "Ok, Dark fire has the civilians, these guys are mine!" he thought. With one motion of his hand he created a giant fire around the crooked cops. He made it implode and scorch the men. "Still want to push people around?"

With the police preoccupied with Andrew, Darkfire moved in closer to the arrested mobsters. He melted the cuffs off of each one and they all ran off. Dr.Everyone knew more would be in the restaurant.

"Hold them off a bit more Andrew! There's more inside!"

Dr.Everyone ran inside and shut the door. He quickly barred it with a few tables.

Most of the police were outside being dealt with. They had put most of the mobsters in here, handcuffed. Most them struggled, trying to get free.

"Who is the highest ranking mobster here?"

"Ova' hey're. Whaddya wan't?"

"I want a thousand dollars cash for me and my associate out there freeing you and all of your fellow mob-mates."

The mobster considered it for a second. Then told Dr.Everyone he had the money in his wallet. Once Dr,Everyone had the money, he summoned small orbs of fire and simultaneously free them all. All the mobster began heading to the basement, where there was an underground tunnel leading elsewhere. As they left, the high ranking mobster called out "T'anks! Whoeva' you ar'!"

Dr.Everyone turned to the door and burned the tables he had used to barricade it to ash. He quickly opened the door and flew out as fast as he could, grabbing Andrew has he left. The scene behind them, Dr.Everyone flew them both back to the Penthouse.

"We freed all the civilians being wrongly imprisoned by dirty police officers. One of the civilians inside who had been arrested had been so delighted, he gave me two hundred dollars in thanks!"

Dr.Everyone pulled the money out of his chest pocket and handed it to Phoenix.

"I want you to have that money. You earned it. I couldn't have done it without you."

Phoenix just finished uo the last of the crooked cops. Darkfire grabbed a hold of him and they took off. He handed him 200$ "Well thank you Darkfire." Phoenix said while in the air. =r[color=red]ed]"That was good team work." As they approached the penthouse Phoenix started getting a little fatigued. "I used up a lot of energy on those fires, is it ok if I take a nap when we get back?" Phoenix asked. "Also, how did I do?"
