Well, he's an ancient caveman, big, brutish, violent and thicker than two short planks. He's not actually evil or anyhthing, but he has a temper and hasn't gotten used to civilization.

Well I don't know how a grim costumed vigilante can be associated with a Caveman. How about old Cavy managed to establish himself somewhere in the city. Red Hunter comes to the Big Apple following a lead (I'll come up with the crime he was trying to solve). They cross paths but not before Cavy actually sees or even fully encounters Red's perpetrator. So that might be a good start. Also Cavemen were hunters, trackers of sorts. That might be something Red and Cavy have in comman and which could be very useful in the investigation.

Perfect! My guy could live in the tunnels your guy is traversing. After all, the tunnels are probably the best lodgings a caveman can get in the city.
