The ring of gods and uncovered secrets

It was a dark New Orleans night. Air thick and saturated with humidity. Mosquitos buzzed about. Landing as they tryed to drink the peoples blood. Only to be swatted. Dark clouds brewed overhead. An ominous sign. Something major was to happen. So major even nature took notice. Either that or it was mere coincedence. Either way Sean didn't care. He had his own purpose here. A reason all his own. It had been a good two months since he was in Florida. Since he dealt with Hurricane Drake. Vowing never to do something so stupid again. At his current state he didn't have the luxury to. So he had been searching for something ever since. A way to get stronger. Maybe get full control of his power. Then maybe he would live up to the title of Tough Guy.

He wore the usual. Tight black jeans with ripped up knees. A graphic t-shirt with rain drop designs on the front. Black hair with blonde highlights swept aside. As well as a ring in his right eyebrow and left side of his lip. Much to the protest of Spencer. Though he eventually gave in. Greyish eyes scanning for someone.

He was waiting for a certain person. Since he had told Spence to stay in the hotel till he returned. Which of course ended into an arguement. Which he of course won. Without any major distractions he could do this fine. After all there would be high risk involved in finding an item said to be made by the gods. Sean made sure he called compitent help. The only two guys he could trust, and they were who he waited for. Sul and Pain were the toughest guys he knew. So naturally he called for the two. Though he knew Sul-Fury would be easier to contact than Pain. Still he had to try.

He was sitting on a lonely bench. On the outskirts of the city. As rain poured down on him. Paring like a dome around him. he munched solemly on a large bag of Doritos. Chewing slowly as each chip crunched. He had called Pain and Sul about a week ago. Telling them to meet him at this location. Hopefully Pain wasnt going to get lost along the way. That would only suck. So he waited till someone he expected came. Occasionally licking the chip powder off of his fingers. As he pulled an ipod from his poket. Sticking the headphones in his ears. Turning up the music full blast as he waited. Expecting to be found.

He had gotten the help request a while ago. He had been obsessed looking for Hurricane for months, it was probably best he took a different route to change up his pace. Too much obsession about a single objective can trigger mental attachments that can be difficult to let go. He made his way towards New Orleans as quickly as he could, for a man like him. A bus arrived a block away from Sean. As Sul stepped off the vehicle, the bus rocked and almost leapt into the air from being relieved of so much weight.

His attire changed from time to time, New Orleans was a lot warmer of a climate compared to his previous location in Northern Canada. He threw a leather jacket over his shoulder, looking at his location. Sul was at the right cross-streets, but he just had to find Sean now. In the distance he could see a figure that was unmistakably him. As he approached Sean he noticed a few piercings. He didn't like the look of them, himself. Sometimes the simple things are a mark of beauty by themselves, instead of wrecking your flesh with tattoos, piercings and discs in your lip. But he pushed the thoughts away from his mind.

He was all alone, and Sul was always cautious of a trap. His eyes darted around looking for anything out of the ordinary before relaxing his shoulders. "Hey Sean, what's up?" he said as he raised his eyebrow.

He was relieved when Sul came into veiw. Not dressed in the same attires he was used to. Still it didn't matter. Not as if it mattered much. Sean reclined to a better sitting position. Plucking the headphones from his ears. As his thumb pressed the play buttong. Pausing the music playing. All attention placed on Sul-fury. As he pulled another dorito from the bag and munched on it loudly.

"Its been a while hasn't it? Two months if im not mistaken? Well anyway i suppose your wondering why i asked you to come here." He was explaining. Kinda in a babble almost. Still not so fast as Sul couldnt understand him. Faded black and white converse tapping against the street. "Well its hard to explain." He scratched his head. "I hope your familiar with magic items. If you are then good. You may understand why i called. you. I need your help in finding an item. I'm afraid i cant tell you more than that." he shrugged. Frowning slightly. Hoping Sul wouldnt out right say no to him. Fingers intertwining. Thumbs tapping against each other. "So can you help or not." he asked not sounding to harsh, or too soft. Like an in the middle tone.

A smirk formed out of the corner of his mouth as Sean decided to talk and eat chips at the same time. Perhaps it was a nervous reaction for his question, or because Sean felt comfortable around him. To be completely honest, he had little to no experience in magical items. When the Prince of Darkness invaded the earth, Sul gained an advanced appreciation for the unknown. Things that he didn't understand in this world outweighed what he did know. But he wasn't too sure about this. There were too many unknowns and Sul-Fury was generally a cautious person.

What is there to know about magic? He did know to some extent, there are demons. And that spiritism can possess the body of mortals. What did Sean need this magic for? He was already strong, perhaps he thought he wasn't because of the Hurricane mission? Sean seemed to want to keep changing. Even though it was little things, piercings, magical items, Sul liked him the way he was. And he was afraid of change.

"What kind of magical item?" He asked. "What do we need it for?"

Sean smiled "i suppose i can tell you a little. Im looking for a ring. An ancient artifact to be exact. A powerful one. Its said to give its wearer." he paused for a second mulling over the answer. Shoving another chip inot his mouth. Chewing it slowly and thoughtfully. "Godly power for lack of better terms. I've read about it in one of my mothers books of magic." The ones he was never to read, but when did he ever listen. That was the only time he didn't regret disobeying his mother. After all it would lead him to such an interesting find.

Still he wondered how Sul would feel in all this. He had a strange vibe from Sul. Though he dismissed it as nothing. Devouring two more chips. "What i need it for is the power it promises. As im sure you can guess by now." He ran his fingers through his hair. Noticing Sul wasnt in the influence of his dome. Which meant that the rain would be soaking him. With a thought the rain parted further. Covering where Sul was. As well as pushing any water that soaked him off. "Now that you have a general idea of why i want it. Are you in or out?" He made sure that his tone wasn't demanding. Raising an eyebrow waiting for Sul to reply.

He was still suspicious of the ring, and the intent of gaining 'godly' power. He trusted Sean, but he knew the old saying that power corrupts. Sul hoped he was above ever being overcome by such an influence, and he wasn't sure if Sean would be or not. Sul's jaw dropped half an inch and his eyes enlarged when Sean ran his cheesy Dorito chip fingers through his hair. The nervous reaction was overlooked by the comical food smothering. The ultimatum of whether he was in or out was given to him, but he didn't have to think too long about it. One thing was for sure, and that was that he didn't want Sean to get hurt. He would back Sean all the way on this.

"Of course I'm in, if you promise to be very careful. I don't trust magic. It's fooling with powers we don't completely understand. If it gets too hairy, I want us to pull out of this together. Even if it means letting the ring go."

Hurricane Drake was a success, but Sul was leading the operation. Having Sean lead the duo on the mission would be interesting but could cause challenges to arise. But challenges arising were inevitable, as they were when he was leading the team on the Hurricane Drake mission.

Even though he didn't completely agree with Sul's response. it fit his agenda. So all he did was respond with a nod. Noticing the chip residue on his fingers. Realizing that he had accidentally wiped some in his hair. Annoyed he commanded some of the rain water to douse his hair. Leaving it dripping wet. He then shook his head. Kinda in the fashion of a dog. Strands of hair flayed about. Smoothed down with the palm of his hands. Making sure he left no residue this time. Eyebrows scrunched in annoyance. Lip twisted in a lop sided almost childish grin.

" So should we wait for Pain or move on? I have nothing against going on though the big man himself may get a bit pissed if we leave him to looking." Afterall Sean thought it was rude to leave someone looking for something. Especially Pain who could knock his tteth out. Sean frowned at the thought. After all he did love his teeth. Took extra time to keep them the sparkling white they were. Didn't need them getting knocked out.

Sul's shoulders shrugged slightly. "Do you think he's going to come? I don't know if we should count on it, I haven't seen him since we signed up for the team. He might be busy or something. He can catch up to us later if he shows interest. You and I make a good team as it is." He was confident that the two of them could overcome whatever trial came their way. They hadn't been through too many scenarios, but what they had endured was beyond what most people can do. They have only scratched the surface of the possibilities that the two of them could accomplish together. Together was the key, it made them both stronger.

"What will it hurt to try with just the two of us? Worst comes to worst, we don't make it and try again later with more help." He didn't know much about what was to come, or anything about magic or ancient relics. It would be an odd experience for him.

Sul had a point. One that Sean was unwilling to accept. Still he had no real reason to argue with Sul. Shruging he stood up. If Pain didn't show by now. Then that stubborn ass wouldn't. Whatever he was doing Sean was curious about it. After all he made sure to stres the imprtance of the misson. Still he was sure Sul had the strength to do this. Well he hoped he did. Flashbacks of his fight with Pain flooded his mind.
He remembered how Sul was battered back then. How would he do now. In a place unfamiliar to him. A place where a foe just as feircesome as Pain could be. if not worse. Sighing he jumped to his feet. Absentmindedly touching his lip ring. Bending down and picking up a backpack that layed by the bench. Slinging it over his back. Making sure to stretch before doing anything.

"Well then lets go. Our destination should not be too far off." With that he walked off. Going along the road till he was about half a mile out of New Orleans. On what looked like a long streching interstate. Eyes looking around for anything. Feeling an ominous energy in the air. Drawing him towards a large collection of trees. Calling him like a sirens song. So he listened to it. Walking into the dense clearing. Brushing the branches aside. Looking for what called him so. Hoping Sul was close behind in case it went south. Keeping in the guard himself. Now he knew things would be getting dangerous.

It had appeared that the two were going to their destination on foot. As they walked, Sul pulled out a battered metal cigarette lighter. Pain never asked for it back, but it was a momento of the event. Sul-Fury and Sean previously fought the experienced hero at a junkyard. The lighter helped the two last a few moments longer but they still lost the fight. Sul flicked the lighter open and closed, gazing at the flames it emitted. They were mesmerizing, and somewhat calmed Sul down.

He closely followed Sean in the direction he was heading, but decided to walk beside him instead. Instead of making it appear one of them was a leader of the mission, it made them appear as equals, as friends. Sul raised his eyebrows. Even though they had no hair on them, his face still made a gesture. Earlier he had asked Sean what he needed the ring for. While the answer was obvious, to make him stronger, Sean kind of dodged the real question. He wanted to know what Sean really wanted it for. Did he feel weak? Will his quest for more power change him as a person? "So... Why do you need more power? You don't think you're strong enough?"

Sul's question was unexpected. Why did he want more power? Well it was obvious to him. If Sul wanted to know though. He mind as well tell him. Shrugging he answered. "i'm not sure how to answer that. There are so many ways i could." He was cautious on what he said. "I guess cause wheter you realize it or not. Im not in full control of my power. With this power i can control it." he wasnt lying either. that was why he seeked the ring. So he would never loose control again. He wasnt expecting Sul to believe him, but it didn't matter.

he walked deeper into the collection of trees. As the branches seemed to make a sheild against him. Which didn't matter. What he couldn't brush aside he chopped out of the way with a liquid blade of water. he kept waling till he found what looked like a stone slab on the ground. Not long after that he found what looked like a tunnel that led to an underground network. Like some kind of ruin. Front blocked by a large boulder. Covered in moss. It looked too heavy for him to move himself, and he didn't wanna risk collapsing the tunnel by blasting it with a high pressure blast of water. Hopefully Sul could comprehend what needed to be done. The boulder needed to be moved.

As they walked, Sul kept his eyes on the flame rather than Sean. His response was acceptable, but to Sul he had an extremely skilled control over his powers. What more can he possibly do? He could almost stop Pain in his tracks with his high pressured water. Taking his skills to another level made him think. He couldn't really fathom its possibilities. Sean stooped over to look at a rock with archaic symbols on it. They appeared to be getting closer.

They approached a boulder which seemed to be immovable by ordinary means. Sean looked to him to push it aside. Sul's eyes shifted to the rock, and the flame leaned and curved in the direction he looked for a fraction of a second before flickering out. If you blinked you would have missed it, if you saw it you would think your mind was playing tricks on you. Sul didn't notice it at all.

"Let me take care of that." he said with a smile. He closed the lighter and placed it inside his pocket. Moving towards the boulder he placed both hands on it and leaned his shoulder into the rock. It rolled aside with relative ease. Relaxing his muscles, he let the rock go. The entrance to the ruins was now open.

Sean smiled. He knew Sul would have no problem with the rock. It was childs play to him. Nothing at all. Sean wished he had such power. That he could move boulders as if they were nothing. he could feel envy welling up. More then he usualy had. As if something was forcing it to bubble. yet he kept the neutral expression on his face. With that he approached the entrance. Noticing a small vine covered torch near the entrance. He reached behind him. Rummaging into one of the side pockets of the back pack he had. Pulling out a small blue lighter. Placing it to the torch. Watching as it lit easily. Casting light in the cramped looking tunnel. With that he put the lighter back into the pocket and began his journey into the tunnel like stairway.

Black. thats all it knew. Blackness and bubbling hatred. the need, no the want to kill. To spill fresh blood. it had been a while since it indulged. No he had indulged in death. In watching his victim dying. As the light left there eyes. Screaming in pain begging for mercy. he may have though himself good, but no. he still hated. He still craved blood. in the shadows he stirred. Feeling conciousness come to him. he could think. he felt like he was seeing through anothers eyes. the eyes of him. The one whos mind had pushed him back.An ugly emotion. Now it had a feeling of its own. he was hateful. Hatred as he called himself. Waiting for the moment he would be free. Free from the mind of this boy. To ravage and kill.

The two walked into the tunnel, and Sul remained nearby, he didn't like the feeling of this place. A steady cold breeze seemed to breathe on the back of his neck. Possibly blowing in from the entrance they made. He still thought it was creepy, and dark. Sul had charcoal colored skin, and quite possibly may have blended well in this surrounding. If it were not for his saturated yellow eyes that had a faint glow to them. They didn't illuminate any part of the tunnel, but it took away his camouflage factor. Sean lit the torch and they continued to walk in the tunnel.

Sean said it would be dangerous, but what kind of dangers? His fingers tapped on the side of his thighs in a nervous fashion, ready to lunge forward and strangle anybody threatening to attack Sean. He didn't know if anything even lived here. The air was stale.
