Rockback Rockbackcopy

Her armor is gunmetal grey with chrome and black in there in some places. Her optics are baby blue.

Personality: Rockback is a hardy, confident type of gal. She's got a habit of speaking her mind and maybe sometimes not saying the right thing, giving the impression that she's crass. She also frequently speaks before thinking, which doesn't exactly help dispel the illusion that she's also slow in the processor. Realistically, she's quite smart, or rather smart enough, to do her job. She's just a little too enthusiastic about it. To contradict this tendency, she's occasionally too lazy to kick ass and will loudly complain over matters she doesn't like. She can be stubborn and rude, but she's surprisingly slow to anger.

Despite her rough around the edges persona, she does have feelings and a willful maternal streak. Confident in herself whether she's seen as tough or a big softy, she loves little furry animals and similarly cute mechanical things without feeling shame about it. Her favorite color is lavender. She wants large purple fuzzy slippers for her robot-feet for Christmas. And her favorite hobby is keeping fish.

Nobody can be 100% confident all the time, however, and she too has her insecurities. For one, she doesn't like it if she's discriminated against for being robotic. Being sentient and having immersed herself into human society, she often feels secretly putout that she's not human, too. She's also irrationally afraid of spiders and praying mantises.

History: In the year 2004, a scientist named Dr. Harrus and his team were secretly charged by the US government to design and build human sized robotic weapons in order to help end the war in the Middle East. A series of robots were then built called FOG and CORY, a name given to the project by a random name generator used by the military. FOG was the prototype program, where parts and programming were built, tested, and then scrapped. CORY then saw the finalized weapons with advanced design. In the year 2007, project CORY was finished with a line of 25 robots, 8 to 9 feet in height, each with various abilities. However, they all were supposed to run on a new and little researched energy system that worked like a tiny nuclear reactor that was to be built by a completely separate team.

This little reactor was never finished. In fact, due to some fluke in the system, Dr. Harrus was never informed that the the little reactor had been scrapped due to funding issue and concerns about its danger. Forced to find a different way to bring his creations to life and driven by his ambition to be the one who brought a new level of combat to the world, he searched everywhere for power sources that could fit into the machines. First, he revamped a few bots' energy system to accept fuel. Then, he created an energy converter that would allow the robots to ingest other sources of fuels in emergencies, such as food or to ingest coal. But these methods were not enough.

The robots came online as mindless creatures who, despite being programmed with the ability to learn and adapt, couldn't seem to understand the world around them. They did as they were told, and they were deadly, but they lacked the ability to judge , problem solve, and adapt what hey learned in a way that they could apply. There was something missing.

Possessing no idea how to give them what he thought should be something like life or sentience, he strove to find a way. In the year 2009 he finally had it. Having tracked down various mystical power sources across the globe, he settled down in his lab to install them. Each power source was a different kind of crystal or some other potent battery and he used them on his machines. Some didn't work, but most immediately came online. In 2010, CORY42-180 was 'born.' Unfortunately, something else about the power sources differed from each other besides just size.

Some of the machines came online and were violent in personality. After several days of unsuccessful attempts to tame them, Dr. Harrus and two of his team were killed when they angered one of their killing machines. The event sparked a war between the leftover robots and they turned on each other while the leftover scientists fled. The fight lasted for several hours and most bots were defeated by the larger ones who'd been equipped the heaviest. Only 3 were left standing and those three soon faced death when a few brave scientists came back with the military to shut them down. The three bots scattered, and the scientists were left to pick up the pieces.

CORY42-180 was the only one alive. The others had been completely shredded or their power sources taken from their bodies and shattered. Waking up to find the labs desolate, walls crumbled and a wide hole in the wall, CORY42-180 lifted herself from her resting place and managed to escape as well. She disappeared into the underground, using her fairly uneducated cunning to go unnoticed, shedding her weapons as she went. They hadn't worked in the battle, hence her defeat, and were useless to her.

In a few years, she'd found herself a comfortable spot in the darkest most secretive area area of the New York mountains, learning about Earth, humans, and other things. Her personality also developed over this time, which has changed her programming to something more dynamic than scientific. Over time, she also started crime fighting, as well as evading the advances of the military and science personnel who created her, afraid they'd take her apart. Since all that time ago, however, she'd learned that the crystal that gives her life, also gives her magical weapons.

Her crystal was found in Western Europe in the ruins of an old Catholic Church. It is thought, according to local legend and the Church's history, that the crystal houses the spirits of a rough band of knights who had the blessings of God to live and fight for righteousness forever.

Rockback thinks it's a load of crap.

Powers:

The same crystal that gives her life also gives her her EP abilities. When firing up the magicness, her chest glows blue-white, which causes seams in her armor to glow as well.

- She can generate a sword and shield from her magic energy. They're both white-blue with crackling energy in there, kinda like Halo's plasma swords.

The sword and shield will affect other weapons/armor/etc just like a durable metal sword and shield would, but the magical strong point here is that both defend against energy attacks by absorbing the impact and are almost impenetrable by normal human ammo/etc.

- Being a robot, she technically doesn't need to sleep. It does help improve her mood and concentration though, as if she'd been meditating so she does so frequently.

Strengths:

- Her magic also makes her a living being, so injuries can heal. She cannot regenerate, like grow back lost lost limbs or sealed up a big hole shot through her stomach, but if a cable or something is cut and starts bleeding it will "clot" and heal over like a human's wound would. Does that make sense? Her parts can be replaced with new ones, but they have to be specially made.

- She can convert foods and drink into energy, albeit a small boost compared to real potent fuels like oil, gas, corn stuff, coal, and other energy things.

- Her body is durable and made of high quality metals. She can take a serious hit. Her chest, where the crystal is contained, is heavily heavily padded and protected.

- What Won't deal damage to her: Normal bullets, a regular dude's punch, a candle flame, an electric shock from a wall socket, medium damage weapons will probably embed their bullets into her armor but not kill her. Minor hacking attempts won't work.

- Has strong firewalls built by some smart scientists and reinforced by her magic powered sentience. She is hackable, but it would take at least 15 minutes to get past her main defenses, and longer than that if she knows she's being hacked. Frag grenades and regular explosive rounds are sort of easily deflected.

Weaknesses:

- She's a strong girl, but a powerful blow from somebody 6+ on EP will probably short out her sword and shield. Same with her body's durability.

- Despite her magic, she needs to fuel up or she'll go offline. She won't die, but she'll be vulnerable to attack.

- She and smelting pits do not get along.

- Should her crystal be removed from her body, she'll die. D: It can be replaced, but should the crystal be broken, she won't come back. D:

- Things can deal damage to her: EMPs will short her out 'til she reboots (EMP or very powerful electric currents can KO her, but she can reboot a couple posts later feeling disoriented but not dead. As a living creature, no one has to boot her back up.), heavy weaponry like missiles will deal medium to heavy damage. Sabo rounds, or whatever heat based weapons will do a lot of damage. Plasma canons or grenades would do a lot of damage. Smelting pit or lava would kill her. People who can melt metal can do serious damage. Shes resistant to water and ice, but doesn't fight well in it - it will slow her down or cause injuries to hurt, like putting salt on a wound.

Is this a new character or are you new here in general? I need an RP example, unless this is a second character... other than that, your powers seems stable.

I rather like this character. (: Rockback makes me smile.. If I ever met her, I'd call 'er Rocky. ;D <3

What attacks can actually harm her? I'd like for you to list that under weaknesses.. It's not like anyone would KNOW this; it's just good to know just in case someone has a character and then all of a sudden their attacks don't work on Rockback, only because you say so. Not pinning you to do something like that, mind you know, but it's a precaution to prevent godmodding. Razz

Yeah, EMPs affect her and KO her for a while til she reboots.

She has serious firewalls, enhanced by her being a sentient creature, not just a machine. She's hackable but it takes time.

Thank you, Paine! Very Happy Rocky ain't a bad nick name. xD

As a second char, do I still need to write the RP sample?
