Amp meets Overmind.

Amp walked the sullen streets of New Orleans as it poured cats and dogs, The rain and wind so strong it was impossible to see 5 feet ahead of yourself. Cars drove by slow throwing up water that splashed good nature people who were use to it and seemed intent on Holiday cheer. Amp looked around from under his umbrella at the Lights and merriment that shone even through the strong rain. Footsteps made Amp turn his head as a man ran down the sidewalk being chased by a cop. He looked around and tipped over a empty trash can and kept walking as he heard a grunt and handcuffs closing over the thief's hands, He could tell it was a thief for when the man was running he was clutching a pure so in all actuality he was a purse snatcher.

Amp has come for assistance to make him better but he didn't know how, Luckily the Hero underground had spoken of a Genius who lived in this city who could help with just that. Amp's idol was SlamFist the Aussie and found it amazing that he too had great strength and durability and hoped he could move one step closer to being the Hero his own Hero was. Amp crossed the street as he looked around trying to think of the best way to get the Genius Overmind's attention, Sadly Amp didn't have a huge Lighthouse or Beacon to call the man so instead Amp walked into a Cafe and took a seat ordering a hot Coco and some chips, Amp slid his Guitar out and strummed the strings slowly which was a sign of him thinking hard about what to do next.

Amp looked at the door wishing that Overmind would hear his thoughts but he doubted it, They said he was a genius not a psychic. Amp thought about posters maybe or a Plane with a banner but that required money which was Something Amp was short on. He nodded giving the fee and a tip before he left the Cafe. Amp continued down the sidewalk for sometime coming to a nice area where the Holidays were truly welcomed. Houses the size of buildings were decorated with snowmen and enough lights to wrap the Statue of Liberty, Not to mention the power being used would power half the city. Amp Turned another corner and sighed maybe he was fooling himself into thinking he could find the most elusive and clever of the Hero's.

Amp stopped at Criss and Paster looking back and forth making sure no cars were coming before he darted across, He stopped as he spotted a bunch of cops outside a building being shot at by automatic rifles and a loud snap told Amp there was also a Sniper somewhere up there. He walked over to a group of cops and stood behind them listening. Cop no1: Ok we got 10 guys up there with Automatic rifles, So far there has been no sign of Hostages but we can't get close enough without getting shot at.

Amp nodded and walked around stopping at a large metal cruiser it seemed someone up top had used a RPG on it, He flicked his wrist knocking the armored vehicle over much to the surprise of four cops who had been standing close by. Amp picked up the vehicle placing it in front of him and began to walk towards the building. The pound, pound, pound, told Amp they had targeted the vehicle but the armored plating kept the bullets from going through. He looked around the vehicle as one guy leaned out with a Rocket Propelled Grenade launcher looking to get a clean shot. Amp narrowed his eyes before balancing the large 10 ton armored vehicle on one hand and threw it with massive strength. A explosion than a scream rent the air as the truck continued forward just as the person fired the missile sadly it was too late, The truck slammed into the missile but the weight spun it and crushed into the building and killing the man.

Amp looked around before bunching his legs and jumped shooting into the air he landed inside the opening the Armored vehicle made only to be met by 5 guys with guns, Amp smiled and covered his face as they opened fired the bullets hitting his body and bouncing off. He was lucky none of the guys were using armor piercers or he would be in a lot of pain right now, As the bullets stopped he looked up at the shocked faces of the shooters. Amp stepped forward and grinned grabbing a metal table he swung it smacking all 5 men with it and slamming them into the wall with the metal table on them, Leaving the bad guys with a few broken bones Amp continued into the building working his way up to the top.

A scream made Amp stop as he looked in seeing a man holding a pistol to a young Woman's head yelling out the window to the cops to drop there guns and pay a ransom blah blah blah. Amp looked around and nodded sneaking up behind the man, He reached out to grab the gun only to feel another one press against his side. Amp looked down seeing the woman grinning at him while holding a .44 to his side, Sighing Amp twisted catching the man with a back hand which sent him flying into a table breaking it in half. The woman spun with him throwing a hook into his jaw before she screamed holding her broken hand. Amp shook his head giving a soft knuckle tap to the woman's skull knocking her unconscious before he went to the window yelling out that all the people were incapacitated.

Amp slipped out the back hoping to escape notice by the cops, The last thing he wanted was to be on the 5 o clock news as a Hero, He stopped thinking how cool that would be to be known and recognized by the people just like Slamfist but shaking it off he snuck into a alley way and sat down smiling at how good he felt for helping the cops.

Nice work. A voice rang in Amp's head. The voice was clear and echoless, it seemed to lack any real origin. Then the voice spoke again, It's always nice to see young heroes doing the right thing. So, I must ask you, what do you call yourself?

Amp had his eyes closed so he assumed it was someone in front of him "
My name is Amp", He opened his eyes before jumping up and looking around, His eyes shifted up and down the alley as he tried to find the source of the voice "Hello"? Amp called down the dark alley way, Feeling a little freaked out he turned leaving the alley way behind and began to walk down the street once more.

Amp? Huh. I assume you have electric or sound based motif going around you? The voice still rang clear, no matter how far away from the alley way Amp could get. So tell me Amp. What brings you to New Orleans? Surely you know this city is already under the protection of Slamfist and Ovemind. Surely you don't think they couldn't have handled that situation?

Amp stopped and looked around wondering if he was going insane, But no the voice it was inside his head but his spirits shot up when Slamfist was mentioned, Amp closed his eyes thinking out with his mind "Is Slamfist here, can I meet him"? Amp stood still waiting on a reply before he realized he was being rude "Yes I know this place is guarded well but I am looking for Overmind, do you know him"?

A low chuckle eminated in Amp's head. I do. Why do you wish to meet him so badly? Come to ask for a favor from the good scientist?

Amp took his time he didn't want to rush this but he needed to truly know why he wanted to meet Overmind "My name is Lance Mires I go by Amp for I am in a band with my friends, I am a hero but I am not strong enough to make a difference in this world for that I need help I need Overmind's assistance, This is not a thirst for power to be a unstoppable force but to help those who can't help themselves I want to be strong enough so that this world does not need to be afraid, Like Slamfist".

Amp looked around wondering if he was just talking to himself or if this person really knew where to find Overmind.

A good answer. A little cheesy, but a good answer. Slamfist would be happy to hear you say that. The voice went silent for about 30 seconds. It was deadly silent without the voice in Amp's head, despite the cars that passed him by. Then he was jerked backwards, falling into a hole that didn't seem to have a bottom.

Amp let out a gasp as he was yanked back and fell, fell fell, waiting for the bottom to hit like a brick wall. Amp knew he would survive, a fall had never killed him before and his body could handle quite a lot of damage.

"It'll be easier if you just act like you're standing. You'll land on your feet that way." There was a man next to Amp now. He stood on nothing that Amp could see, didn't seem to be falling at all. With a wave of his hand Amp was set right side up. "Falling is just an illusion here. As is time and space. If it doesn't make sense, don't worry about it, few people do. Just reamain calm. I'll take you to Overmind's lab."

Amp nodded and stayed still as he was at the mercy of his guide and though Amp didn't trust many people if this man was taking him to Overmind then he couldn't necessarily be a bad guy. He nodded giving the lead to the man.

Bump.

The man walked on the nothingness that surrounded, each step was silent and he moved with a sense of knowing, a knowing that he couldn't fall, a knowing that they were safe in this place. "Come along, time may move at a snail's pace in here but we still mustn't sit idley by, you'll still age at the normal rate." The man chuckled at the comment as he moved brickly along.

Amp nodded following the man as he stared amazed that he wasn't plummeting when he should be. "Whoa how is this possible, i mean were walking on air." Amp's eyes were as round as quarters as he stared at the scene below them before taking a step to keep up with the man. "So how far is it, I was hoping Overmind could do to me what he did to Slamfist the great and I could be more heroic and more able to help people, Does it take long to do?" Amp was rattling off questions mainly to keep from looking at the floor.

"Slamfist the Great? Is that a term of endearment or do they actually call him that now?" The man chuckled. It was warm, despite the bleak nothingness that surrounded them. "It's not far from here. Your questions will be answered there." The man strode on in silence, before long he stopped and waved his hand in front of him, another tear appearing there. "You first."
