Damian Edric / Deathtouch
Real Name: Damian Edric
Super Hero/Villain/Renegade/etc Name: Deathtouch (Yeah, I went there )
Title:
Alignment: Villain
Age: Mid-forties, maybe forty-six
Gender: Male
Height: 6' 1"
Weight: About 200 pounds
Image:
Personality: Very devious, sadistic, and vicious. He is highly intelligent and strategic, but rather than being cold and calculating, he uses his intelligence to cause as much pain and damage as possible. He despises incompetence and people who talk too much.
History: Growing up under overprotective but loving parents, Damian hated his life. He longed to make something exciting happen in this painfully ordered world. As he went through school, his incredible intelligence meant that schoolwork came unnaturally easy to him and bored him to tears. To pass the time, he masterminded elaborate and usually dangerous pranks on the teachers and other students. Though everyone suspected him, he was always too clever to be caught. Broken bones and deep, bleeding gashes seemed to spread through the school like an epidemic. Gathering the school's bullies to him with alternating promises and threats, he solidified his power over the student body. His parents loved him too much and were too proud of him to think he was the cause of the injuries. Though he had all the power in the school, he was still envious of the authority that others still had over him.
As he grew older, the same pattern persisted throughout high school and college. Upon graduating college, he shunned the boringly systematic life of the average American and started a research laboratory. At first, he just researched new materials, secretly preparing a section of the lab for researching a WMD. This WMD research came to be called the "Paradox Project" by Damian and his scientists that worked on it. Using a neutron bombardment beam, it could collapse matter in on itself and cause a chain reaction that would freeze all matter within a 10 mile radius. The problem was putting it in a package, since anything they would put the tech into would simply crack with the extreme temperature.
As the years passed and the Paradox Project got closer and closer to completion, Damian got careless with the info he gave to his coworkers. From the start of the project, he had told the other scientists that he was trying to prove the existence of other dimensions. One night, however, he let slip that it would be an incredible blast if you set it off unchecked in a large city. From that time, one of his closest co-workers, Jake Rogers, began to suspect his real intentions and studied his every move. Jake noticed how Damian's eyes lit up when explaining the amount of power and potential this technology had, and noticed the incredible skill with which he manipulated the people around him. Eventually, he decided to murder Damian.
Late one night, when he had sent all the other scientists home, Damian was working later than he usually did. He stood before two massive Tesla Coil-looking devices. Something that looked like black lightning was leaping spasmodically between them, making loud electric crackling sounds. Between these two coils was a flat surface with a small staircase leading up to it. This was where the specimens were placed during experimentation. After throwing several switches, Damian tensely watched as the black lighting and crackling ceased. On the flat platform, a small metallic sphere reasted, frozen water vapor slowly rising like smoke. A look of fiendish extasy stole across Damian's face.
"I've finally found it!" he exclaimed excidedly, brushing his gloves off excitedly over his old, stained lab coat, "I've found the way to contain it!"
"Oh you have, have you?" Jake walked in, wearing a similarly worn-out lab coat and a fake smile.
Damian froze in place, surprised and angry that Jake had ignored his orders to go home.
"Ah, Jake," Damian said, restraining his anger and turning slowly, "what brings you back here?"
Jake never answered. Dashing forward madly, he shoved Damian onto the platform. Tripping over the stairs and falling with his head squarely in the center, Damian hit his head on the metallic orb that he had been experimenting on.
Acting quickly, Jake ran to the controls and turned the Paradox machine up to the maximum output. As the machine whirred and crackled back into life, the black electricity hit the sphere, causing it to magnify the already maximized machine's energy to astronomical levels. The last thing Jake saw before his death was an explosion of black flames.
The next morning, Jake's coworkers arrived at the lab to discover Jake's body, frozen like it had been dipped in liquid nitrogen. Damian was nowhere to be found...
Powers: Damian's experiments turned all of the matter in his body into "negative-matter." The electrons and protons in the matter that makes up his body have been switched. The elements in his body are still made up of the same number and type of subatomic particles, so he is still the same weight and shape and his body has remained physically the same with a few key exceptions; Damian's normal body temperature now is a few degrees above freezing (about 35 degrees farenheit), he needs to eat more to stay alive, and the air around him is constantly being cooled by his presence.
Energy Canceling Field: The way his matter reacts with his surroundings has changed drastically. He can extend a field around himself that gradually negates kinetic and thermal energy. Basically, everything in a 15 foot radius gets colder and slower the longer they are there. He can also release a shockwave that is basically a more concentrated form of this effect that reaches a 15 foot radius. This shockwave is concentrated enough to stop bullets, but can only be activated twice while maintaining any given field. After two shockwaves, Damian must retract the field and reinstate it, freeing any objects in its area of effect. Once an object is freed from the effects of his field, it is free to begin gaining more thermal and kinetic energy, but any kinetic or thermal energy it lost during the process is lost permanently. His field counts against gravity as well, slowing and even stopping falling objects eventually. His field can pass through matter, but can be weakened by other energy barriers or protective powers.
Negative Touch: Once Damian touches someone (skin to skin touch, doesn't work through clothes or other matter) his power begins flowing into them. This suppresses super powers that affect one's surroundings (telekinesis, elemental manipulation, telepathy, etc.) but doesn't directly affect inner powers like regeneration or super strength (basically, it suppresses powers and restricts them to the inside of the body). While Damian is touching someone, they quickly lose body heat and their organs begin to lose the ability to move or function. Basically the same as his field but concentrated inside the person's body, effecting all the matter within them. They will gradually think slower, their heart will gradually stop beating, and their blood will flow slower and slower until they die. He can kill a wide awake, physically fit person in about 3 minutes.

Re: Damian Edric / Deathtouch
So I make a Superintelligent Supervillian with subatomic superpowers and you make a superintelligent supervillian with subatomic superpowers. You damn ripoff!
Nah, I don't mind. Just as long as it doesn't start a chain reaction of superintelligent supervillians with subatomic superpowers. Don't follow the hype!

Re: Damian Edric / Deathtouch
Hey, man, it's impossible that his protons would circle his electrons, since electrons have about 1836 times less mass, and are therefore incapable of attracting the bigger massed protons. It could be that he would be antimatter, where the polarity of his protons and electrons would be reversed, but that would mean he would dissolve in 'normal' matter. Or rather explode. To quote wikipedia (I know, I know, anybody could've written that): "one gram of antimatter annihilating with one gram of matter produces 180 terajoules, the equivalent of 42.96 kilotons [Soap: though it should be megatons, even the link redirects to megaton] of TNT (approximately 3 times the bomb dropped on Hiroshima - and as such enough to power an average city for an extensive amount of time)." So mister Edric here would explode with the force of about 3.905.493.600.000.000 kilo TNT (3905493.6 megatons of dem boom stuff). And that...would be seriously fucked up for us all.
Damn, I'm actually learning something here, by checking out the theoretical possiblity of this science-fiction shit. God, how I love science fiction.

Re: Damian Edric / Deathtouch
@ Soap: Lol I didn't exactly consider the science behind it. I could have just as easily said his powers came from magic, I just wanted to put a little more effort in. I've had this guy in mind for a while, actually, it just took some time actually writing everything out and making sure his powers were ok and not godlike.
@Wolf: You are absolutely right, sir, I shall fix this error right away. *fixed*

I totally understand you, man. Being 'magical' all the time is just so cheesy. I was just wondering how Negative Matter differed from Antimatter that I looked it up, thus discovering that they are respectively Impossible and "Big Kaboom!".

Re: Damian Edric / Deathtouch
Yeah, Soap, if you want I can make you a mod so you can approve applications. You always know what you're talking about and I've been a lazy fuck lately so it'd be helpful. Up to you though.
Back to the app though, I think your grid is pretty much perfect, 5 ep for those powers is cutting it close, but eh what the hell, the character is mainly defensive anyway. It's approved to me, so have fun.
