Carl is extremely intelligent, and tends to use that as a defense mechanism. Often sarcastic and rude when, Carl uses his sense of humor to hide his hurt. An outsider among his people, and among the humans, Carl has adapted a loner persona, but the right sort of person can see right through it and tap into the potential he has. He lives in fear of losing control and "going gator". He got a piercing above his eye to show his "rebel" attitude.



Deep in the swamps of Mississippi in an area that was unlivable for humans, there was a tribe. Not just any tribe, but a tribe of mutant American Alligators, that had lived there for thousands of years. Stories of their existence could be found in Native American legend and tales passed down by early settlers who told of lizard men that walked and talked like humans, but most of that was seen as folklore until a search for a missing child utilizing drone technology exposed the tribes existence. The initial encounters with government envoys were violent in nature, and it led to a group of Metahumans being sent to make peace with the tribe. In a show of peace and an exchange of information, the tribes King-Lord, Argrrl'Tor, sent his son, the prince, with the humans to establish diplomatic relations between them. Little did the humans know, the prince, Gragarl'Tor, was an outcast and embarrassment of the tribe. As a race that worships strength, brutality, and hunting over all, Gragarl was always more of an intellectual, and hated what he called "gratuitous violence", and his father jumped at the opportunity to be rid of him. While the Alligator tribe is against killing their own, King-Lord Argrrl'Tor hoped that being sent to live among the hairless apes would either toughen his son up, or get him killed. Either worked for him. Gragarl'Tor was well aware of his fathers intentions, but he hated life among his tribe, and hoped to learn from the humans as he fell in love with their technology and culture.

Gragarl was 10 when he left his home, and was taken to live in a laboratory in Washington, where he was studied, as well as taught. It soon became clear that Gragarl was special, and not just because he was an anthropomorphic talking alligator. To the shock of researchers everywhere, Gragarl was proof that there were meta's among other species. Gragarl's intelligence was off the charts, not just for the Alligator Tribe, but for anyone. Simply put, Gragarl was a genius. Taught by a Dr. Anthony Redmond, Gragarl excelled in math, science, philosophy, engineering, and everything else he tried, and soon he went from being seen as a research specimen to being treated as a sort of adopted son, not only by the good doctor, but everyone in the lab. Affectionately dubbed "Carl", as Gargarl seemed unsophisticated, he began dressing like a human, wearing graphic tees (something he adores) and glasses (despite having very good eyesight), he chose to wear things that would play down his intimidating appearance. Despite his closeness with the folks who worked regularly in the lab, he heard the whispers of "freak", "man-eater" "animal", and jokes about how he should be put down, or turned into a purse. Carl hid how it made him feel, as any crying would lead to jokes about "crocodile tears", a racist and rude remark, so he became adept at using sarcasm, jokes, and general rudeness to hit back. Anything to keep his emotions in check, as he always feared what could happen. He knew about his people's warrior mentality, and they all had a state known as "the red", a state of primal rage and viciousness that leads to increased strength and fighting ability but decreased intelligence. Carl knew that if he entered this state, he'd prove all of those who hated him right, and risked hurting people, or worse...

By age 12, Carl had become obsessed with television and the exploits of metahumans. He watched in horror when the NY Assault took place, and cheered when heroes like Atlas saved the day. Carl knew what his goal in life was. He'd be the worlds greatest hero. He spent two years studying all the heroes and villains he could, earned a PhD, and working for the lab that had once studied him earning money. By the time he was 14, he was ready to go. He'd told everyone that he was going back to spend a summer with his tribe, when in reality, he was looking to jump start his career as a hero. He used his money to move to New York, the center of the worst metahuman incident ever, and pledged to let it inspire him to keep something like that from ever happening again.

Things didn't work out as he'd planned, and despite a world full of meta-humans, he still found himself being an outsider, constantly attacked, teased, and assaulted for his species. He returned to the lab, tail between his legs and cynicism in his heart, only to be welcomed with open arms by Dr. Redmond, who went so far as to adopt him. Despite some initial discomfort from Mrs. Redmond, worrying about if he would eat either of her two sons, she and the family soon accepted Carl as one of their own. He lives with them currently, in a nice house in the suburbs of D.C., homeschooling with Dr. Redmond, while secretly still waiting for the day he can fulfill his dreams of becoming a hero.

Carl is not done growing, and will most likely grow up to look a lot like his father, Argrrl. He fears that he may lose his intelligence, and become like his father.  He'll get bigger, stronger, and more powerful with age.

Super..er Human? Intelligence: Carl is unbelievably smart. Able to learn almost anything within a few hours, he's an incredible programmer, engineer, scientist, as well as a master of strategics.

Mutant Alligator: Carl is a mutant alligator. He's got the jaw strength that's 3x that of a normal American Alligator, claws and teeth capable of tearing through steel, and nearly impenetrable rough skin capable of preventing knife wounds. He's got incredible eyesight, smell, and a tongue that can sense movement. Under water all of these things are doubled, and he's capable of swimming at speeds of 100 mph, and can run on all fours at a speed of 60 mph in short bursts.

Healing Factor: Carl has a healing factor that allows him to regrow entire limbs in hours. Due to the alligators incredible immune system, he's immune to almost all diseases.

The Red: Carl is capable of falling into a vicious primal state, where he becomes stronger, faster, and hungrier. In this form he can go toe to toe with some of the strongest.



Huge appetite: Carl is an alligator, and due to how active he is physically and mentally, he needs to eat a LOT. If Carl goes an hour without eating he begins to feel weak, and occasionally falls asleep for hours at a time.

Needs moisture: Carl needs to be fully submerged in water once a day at least, or he begins to be dehydrated, and weaken rapidly.

The Red: When he enters this state he loses control. While he does gain physical ability, he's barely smarter than an alligator. Capable only of one word sentences, he can only focus on fighting. All of his intelligence is diminished.

He's a walking, talking, alligator: Because he's not human, he has a few disadvantages associated with that. He can't disguise himself ever, and has no real legal standing yet. He's often the first target for hunters, anti-metahuman terrorists, or general assholes.

Pacifist: While he has all the physical tools for a fighter, he's a dedicated pacifist. This tends to hinder him if forced to fight, because unless he's in the red, he'll spend more time trying to avoid the conflict.

Terrified of crocodiles: He just does not like the things. None of them talk, and they look like uglier alligators. He will do anything it takes to avoid these fouls creatures, and panic when they are around.


Rapid growth: Being a young alligator, Carl is growing fast. The older he gets the greater the amount of food, rest, and water he will need to survive and thrive. Essentially, his physical weaknesses will only get worse.

Heat: To be able to function in very hot areas, Carl needs to submerge himself in water or be covered in it at least once an hour, otherwise he will go into a lazy, sloth-like state.



He's the prince of a tribe of advanced alligators, wears clothes, and is super smart.
