It’s a bit complicated: Gobi used to be a bit lazy, undisciplined guy. He was shy and didn’t have much self-confidence. Also he was awkward, timid and didn’t said the right words in the right time. All together hes was a nerd. But he was a good nerd, a nice guy. He helped his mother shopping groceries and stuff. But most time he spend inside his mother’s basement, playing games.
Online, he was another person. He was focussed, quick with his responses in the chatbox. The games he played he was high up in the high score, mainly because he took big calculated risks. And he was less of a good person,a bit of a troll, who likes to choose the bad options in games, mainly because they often had better rewards.

After he was turned in a character of a game in real life, his personalities merged a bit. He has difficulties distinguish the game and the real life part, which makes him a little unpredictable. Furthermore he’s spontaneous, childish and likes to crack a joke. He takes big risks, especially when he has plenty of lives left. On top of that he became more adventurous and heroic, because in essence he is a protagonist in a video game.




Gobi grew up in New Jersey. His mother owned a bookstore and his father left when Gobi was three. At school, he performed mediocre and didn’t had much friends. At the age of ten, he discovered a few online games and immediately was hooked up. His first username was GreatGobi10, and it sticked. When he finished high school, he started studying computer science and engineering, but he quitted after the first year. The next year he spend most of his time in the basement behind his computer.

Three years ago he got this gaming station from the future. The YTX - 70. The truth about how he obtained it is hidden behind time travel paradoxes and amnesia. Since then
Now his mother’s house is empty. In the basement is GreatGobi10’s safe point, he is the YTX - 70 always running a future remake of a super mario game. Currently it’s GreatGobi10’s 17th run to save the princess, defeat the end boss and complete the game.

Increased jumping ability: GreatGobi10 can jump nearly 6 feet up in the air, mostly used to pass obstacles and jump onto enemies. Also has the abilty to double jump, jumping mid air again.

Matter alternating particle cloud - GreatGobi10 is surrounded with an invisible, nearly undetectable cloud. This emits particles that can change matter in a thousand feet radius. This is used by the YTX - 70 to create GreatGobi10’s item powers, but also to slowly change locations into game levels. When GreatGobi10 enters a building or location, at first at certain hard to reach point item bricks will appear. But the longer GreatGobi10 stays on one location, more items, enemies and obstacles will appear. He has no control over this power.

Extra lives - GreatGobi10 can earn extra lives. Lives are represented by certain items, which he can collect by hitting item bricks. Every time he collects an item, a small tattoo appears on his left underarm. Every time he get hit or hurt, he loses a life. He start to blink as if he’s an holographic projection, then reappears  without any traces of the harm. But he loses the tattoo and the power that belongs with it. If he runs out of tattoo’s and he dies, he’ll lose the game.

Every item grants different powers and costumes. Once he picked a live, he can switch after five minutes to the next. See the header: items.



Hit means death - Every hit results in death and the lost of a live. Get slapped in the face = death. Fall from the roof of a car = death. Get shot in the foot = death.

Future technology - The YTX - 70 relies on future technologies. So the matter alternating particle cloud can be hacked of stopped by sers of future technologies.

The  YTX - 70 hardware - In GreatGobi10’s basement is a computer that’s the source of GreatGobi10’s existence. Destroying it would be… horrible? No clue actually what’ll happen, but it’s clearly a weakness.

Powers for everybody! - Anyone can find and break an item brick, and use the power that comes with it. So the enemies can use it against him. It’ll stay with them as long as they stay near GreatGobi10 and as long as he doesn’t lose any lives.

This item can’t be used here! - GreatGobi10 can’t use any weapons other than the items listed below. He can’t even swing a wooden bat.

The Feather Cape is a feather. When this power is used, it turns into a white cape with orange details. Even when there’s no wind, it softly flaps.
+ Gives the ability of flying, floating and slow falling.
+ When spinning, it hits enemies and thrown objects.
- Makes the user lighter than air, vulnerable for strong winds.

The Hammer is a large wooden hammer. When this power is used, the user simply gets a huge wooden hammer.
+ Increases the strength of the user.
+ The hammer is stronger than most materials.
+ When used to hit the ground, it sends vibrations that throws everyone out of balance.

The Fire Flower is found as a red flower. When this power is used, a red glow appears around the user.

+ Gives the ability to shoot bouncing balls of fire, that’ll burn whenever they touch something burnable.
+ Makes the user invulnerable for heat-based attacks, fire and lava.
- Water becomes deadly.
- The red glow makes stealth missions quite impossible.

The Penguin Costume is a little penguin statue. When this power is used, the user wears a mascotte-like penguin costume.

+ Gives the ability to shoot ice balls. Whenever the hit an enemy, the enemy is frozen in a block of ice and stuck inside until an outside force breaks it. This block of ice feels cold to the touch, but isn’t deadly.
+The user can slide over any solid surface as if it was ice.
- Warmth is deadly, being exposed to open fire is deadly.

The Monkey Suit is a little monkey statue. When this power is used, the user wears a mascotte-like penguin costume.

+ Increases agility.
+ A useable monkey tail!
+ Can shoot banana peels, which can make enemies and vehicles slip.
- The user can’t speak and only use monkey sounds.

The Koopa Bazooka is a turtle shell. When this power is used, the user wears a full-body turtle shell and a bazooka.

+ The ability to shoot turtle shells. Green are normal ones; red are self guided; and blue are explosive.
+ The shell costume is bulletproof, and makes the user more durable against physical damage.
- The user becomes slower and loses the ability to run or jump.

The Tiny Mushroom is a blue mushroom. When this power is used, the user shrinks to a quarter of his size.

+ Shrinks.
+ Increases speed.
+ Gives the ability to run over water.
- Unable to break bricks.

The Large Mushroom is a red mushroom. When this power is used, the user doubles his size.

+ Twice the original length, mass and jumping speed.
- More easy to hit and thus more easy to lose this life.

King Boo Essence is a tiny ghost in the shape of a speech balloon. When this power is used, the user turns in a white, transparent version of himself.

+ Can walk through objects and people.
- Can’t walk into bright light, even a flash light becomes a life threatening tool

The Golden Star is a tiny golden star. When this power is used, the user is surrounded with  little stars. When this power is activated, the user shines in every color of the rainbow and an annoying music starts playing.

+ For thirty second, the user becomes invincible against every type of physical damage. Everything he touches breaks or is bounced away.
+ Increases speed.
- Has to recharge for five minutes.



A lot of game effects happen around GreatGobi10. Whenever he wins, fireworks appear. Whenever he teams up, briefly the word player 2 appear above antoher persons head. When he enters an dangerous area, a tensive tune starts to play. etc.
