Rating
Sexual Content 2: Sexual content is permitted. References and writing about genitalia and sex acts are permitted, but explicit detail is not. Fade to black, or use the dotdotdot rule. (Let's keep it PG-13.)
Violence 2: Graphic violence is permitted. Explicit description or in-game narration violence is allowed.
Despite these ratings, keep in mind that there is a limit, and you should not cross it just to garner attention. Also, resorting to curse words is also like adding senseless fluff to your posts.

The Looks
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Shango stands an impressive six feet and a slight under six inches tall, weighing an unimpressive one hundred and twenty-two pounds, giving her a very lithe and thin-framed build. Despite this she bears a slight musculature about her arms and legs, and most prominently through her core. She has a slightly rounded face with full cheeks and moderately high cheekbones with a strong, well-defined sharp jawline. Her lips are plump and full, and cast a heavy shadow over her rounded chin. Her nose is large and bulbous, with a wide bridge and plump nostrils. Her eyes are small and slick, ever focusing on her objectives, with thick bushy eyebrows. Her Inner Eye is directly in the center of her forehead and bears similar likeness to her normal eyes. She typically wears her hair in long locks; in truth, her locks are centered on her head, but she often wears them lying to one side, revealing her typically fresh cut undercut. Shango has many piercings on her face and ears; she wears a two hoops on her right eyebrow, at least size 00 gages, and multiple lobe and helix piercings and any given time. Shang doesn’t have any tattoos, but around her Inner Eye are marking that could be mistaken as such. On her chest is large burn mark which, despite her abilities, has never healed over. She has fairly wide shoulders, much larger than her slimness should suggest, and her collarbone is well-defined. Her chest pokes out slightly, showing off a slight femininity; her gait involves a lot of swaying to exaggerate her narrow hips and tight rear, which are just nearly as wide as her shoulders; and her indoor voice is slight and somewhat singsong-like, filled with soul and sass as her ilk are stereotypically presented to be. Her typical style of attire looks something out of Afropunk; typical punk fashion complimented with Afro-centric accessories and the like. She’s also privy to going about barefoot, but otherwise wearing classic low-top shoes. Her favorite clothing is usually just a pair of calf-length joggers and an exposing men’s tank top with plenty of accessories and shades, or a tight hoodie with an ankle-length form-fitting skirt and sandals
The Personality
Shango is your typical “delinquent” type only with an explosive twist. Privy to causing a ruckus and creating noise wherever she goes, Shango is also wont to cause absolute mayhem when she has nothing better to do. Shango, while she’s not causing trouble frequently spends her free time loafing about or vandalizing public spaces. More intimately, Shango is surprisingly much more laid back that she would seem. In more personalized situations she prefers to keep to herself, remaining fairly quiet, but isn’t afraid of opening up to voicing her often far-left opinions. Shango seldom carries conversations that she’s not fully committed to. If she has to speak she will be blunt, sometimes offensively so, and to the point. Outside of intimate encounters she will try to have the loudest voice, towering over others, frequently literally as well as vocally. There are times, however, where Shago will be much less abrasive. When she’s engaged in a conversation or doesn’t hold ill feelings towards others, she replaces her brash behavior with quick-witted banter and sarcasm, making ill-placed references to pop culture and crude jokes.
The Story
In the game of chess, there is the King, the Pawn, and everything in between. In life, everyone strives to be the King and may work their entire lives to reach that point. Others, however, may not have such ambitions. Rajani is one of those people; an unassuming person throughout her life, Rajani had a relatively normal and uneventful upbringing. It wasn’t until her more recent years did her life take a turn for the different. Never setting her sights too high, Rajani never sought to be the proverbial King in any form.
During her later university years, Rajani found herself facing existential dread. She was more than half way through a major that she found no joy in and had no desire to follow a lifestyle provided by her subject of study. Her later years led her succumbing to a deep depression over time, nearly dropping out of school all together. While seeking help during this depressive time, Rajani was recommended someone else altogether who employed nontraditional manners of assisting people through their tough times; Blackwell, was what he was called, although he never disclosed his real name. He was an enigma of sorts; technically a licensed psychiatric figure, but operated in a more intimate, more “under the table” sort of manner. Blackwell being a Metahuman with abilities to alter perception and manipulate people’s minds was often referred to in Rajani’s local area for those seeking mental and emotional help. People turned to him much how one would seek hypnotists or homeopathy as forms of alternative care. Rajani was already wary of Metahumans and the strangeness of the world around her, so seeing someone for one-on-one pseudo-medical assistance seemed incredibly suspicious. Nevertheless, with very little going for her otherwise, she took the chance.
Blackwell was a tall dark man of about six feet and five inches, dressed sharply for business at a moment’s notice. A sleek black suit lined with a clean white shirt and a sharp jet black tie accentuated his masculine features. He wore thick, yet well-kept locks of frizzed hair parted into at least five sections, all falling to his lower backside in length. He spoke with a deep voice, almost like he was straining his throat to speak. Regardless of his visage, Rajani remained unfettered. She had never been intimidated by anyone shorter than her, even by the most minute measurements.
His methods were simple; he would show people what they desired most and what they feared most. He believed that by showing people their dreams and fears made tangible, to see them with their own two eyes, they could gain a better perspective of the life they were living. For some people, being enveloped in a fictional reality of your dreams made them seem all the more real, but experiencing your nightmares humbled them. This was not the case for Rajani. She had already had a difficult time imagining her dreams and manifesting her ambitions, as well has having intangible fears such as abandonment and betrayal. He asked her if she would prefer a more exciting life; a life as a Metahuman or leading a more eventful life than a future behind a desk or managing a business. Rajani, unassuming yet, held no feelings either which way, but did entertain the idea of being more than just human. During the procedure he overstepped his bounds, violating personal space and creating an uncomfortable situation for Rajani, only to later reveal that it was all fictitious. The experience left her visibly rattled, leaving abruptly afterwards. When she went to tell people about the disturbing experience she had, no one knew or had even heard the name Blackwell, as if he were a figment of her imagination, or perhaps an enigma of her world.
In the following days, Rajani soon found a disturbance about her person; her forehead had a scar, or perhaps a rash of some sort. An unusual sight, she ignored it and covered it with hats and hair. Over time the disturbance grew, much like a growth, and before the week was over, the growth burst open revealing a third eye. Justifiably horrified, Rajani sought help for the matter. She was quickly met with the conclusion that perhaps she was a Metahuman herself, and had only just begun to realize her potential.
Long nights of studying the symbolism behind the Inner Eye and Metahumans as well as practice seeing through it led Rajani to embrace a wiser lifestyle; Embracing the sight beyond sight nature of her Inner Eye. Upon completing university, Rajani sought assistance for young and college-age Metahumans in hopes of finding a way to use her abilities responsibly, but very little in the ways of utilizing her talents came about, fittingly leaving her on her own path to discovery.
Before long, Rajani encountered Blackwell once again, much to her chagrin. Ever manipulative and suave, Blackwell approached her with the query of whether her life had improved since her discovery, but she would have nothing to do with him. The encounter ended shortly after Rajani discovered she had another talent beyond her sight: her explosive force ability. Injuring both of them, Rajani fled in fear, but with the knowledge that she bore a power within her that she needed to maintain and use for good.
Fast forward about five years to the present, and Rajani has since taken on the alias of Shango, after the king of the African deities the Orishas, master of flame and dance. Her attempts at using her destructive powers for good fell flat, and instead she found that her powers were only put to good use when the right price was paid for them. As of late, Shango has no permanent home, drifting between places of acquaintances and the like, taking odd jobs involving use of her powers. Living a mercenary-like lifestyle, Shango doesn’t stay in one place for too long, and rarely relies on her family for support. All things considered, Shango is still without ambition or purpose in her life, and desperately seeks to fill that void. Being a hero was impossible due to her power, but she could never willingly take a life. Sometimes she wishes she could undo it all, perhaps by the hands of the mysterious Blackwell.
The Priority
1. Agility
2. Reaction
3. Endurance
4. Strength
The Powers
Sight Beyond Sight: Shango possesses a third eye on her forehead, the Inner Eye. While it is open Shango possesses altered senses:
Her vision becomes blurred and she sees out of the Inner Eye in blobs of color and light, unable to discern specific details about things. However, she can see the “life force” of living beings within her vision and can detect unnatural energies and sudden changes in her surroundings.
Her sense of touch and hearing becomes diminished, allowing her to shrug off pain until she’s no longer focusing on Sight Beyond Sight.
Shango also gains the ability to “see” around her, gaining her aforementioned altered sight in a complete radius around her. This ability takes time to wind up and is broken if there is a lapse in her concentration.
Explosive Force: The core and centerpiece of Shango’s power, lies in her ability to hurl high-velocity bursts of pressurized air that upon impact of solids, detonates outwards in a vortex of air. This air is fired in a straight line, but Shango can alter its flight path at will. The air is visible and bears a greyish-white color and spirals during its flight. She can project this Explosive Force from her arms or legs, but can control and project the most powerful blasts from her Inner Eye.
The temperature of Explosive Force usually matches the local temperature of wherever Shango is, however she can fire it from her Inner Eye at temperatures adjusted by up to or down by one hundred degrees Fahrenheit.
The movement of the blasts can be curved midflight with her arms and legs slightly, as well as drastically with her Inner Eye, but she can also move it with the sheer force of will of her mind. While fighting in melee range, Shango “tips” her arms and legs with her Explosive Force giving her hand to hand combat a substantial amount of force behind her blows.
When firing her Explosive Force from her Inner Eye, if the blast travels far enough along its flight path a distinct popping sound of air can be heard multiple times before impact. If fired from her arms and legs the blasts simply sound like heavy wind.
When fired from her Inner Eye, Explosive Force travels upwards of sixty miles per hour, but takes time to reach that speed. Explosive Force reaches max velocity after about three seconds of travel. After about ten seconds of traveling, the speed nearly doubles and the force becomes much stronger. Fired from her arms and legs, Explosive Force travels at about twenty miles per hour.
Shango is fond of using Explosive Force to mimic some semblance of flight, or at least a degree of aerial maneuverability.
Blast Shield: Shango’s power and training has conditioned her to withstand nonlethal harm and to survive mighty blows. She can fall from high distances and only occasionally flinches from high powered impacts. Shango can ward off harm to her Inner Eye while she’s concentrating on protecting it.
The Weaknesses
In a Vacuum: Explosive Force does not work at all in areas lacking air. If the trajectory of the blast would enter an area with no air, the blast fizzles out.
Collateral Damage: Shango has little control over the results of the blasts of air on impact. When Shango uses her Explosive Force there is frequently collateral damage either in the form of harming people who weren’t intended to be affected, destroying nearby property, or even blasting Shango away if she’s too close to the point of impact.
Outer Eye: Shango’s durability is offset by her Inner Eye which serves as an obvious and oftentimes crippling weak spot in two ways:
First, Shango cannot have her normal eyes and Inner Eye open at the same time. If she does, her normal senses are blurred, and she experiences sensory overload. While her Inner Eye grants her some degree of vision, keeping all three eyes open can prove to be a liability in battle and she only does so in the most extreme of situations, or if she cannot see her adversary with her Inner Eye.
Second, while her Inner Eye is closed damaging her Inner Eye can disorient her, blurring her vision and leaving her with ringing ears and a headache. This lasts a few but vital moments. While her Inner Eye is open however, even a simple strike there could prove fatal. She must take a minute to gather herself after being injured in the Inner Eye.
No Force Within: If Shango were to fire Explosive Force too close to her Inner Eye (such as in an encasement like a helmet or such), the power of the blast very likely would kill her instantly or leave her fatally wounded.
The Items
Shango carries all of mundane possessions in a battered military duffel bag that she hides away when she works. Her possessions are nothing valuable beyond typical things like clothes, literature, a phone, and a wallet with identification and local currency. She does illegally own brass knuckles, however.
The Fluff
Shango can control her Inner Eye even while unconscious; allowing her to experience her surroundings, but her memory of the events will be blurry and unreliable at best.
Due to her work and lifestyle situations, Shango is technically homeless, sometimes staying with friends and family for short periods of time but consistently staying in homeless and women’s shelters.
She’s well educated, but Shango can be ridiculously gullible at times.
