Animus
In a world of the extraordinary, there are still those who deal in the truely supernatural. The Occult: magic, elder gods, myths, legends the list goes on and on. Some deal with it for power and wealth, others do so out of duty, and some simply never had a choice otherwise. Regardless of the reason, The lives of such individuals are treacherous.
Animus is an extended network and unofficial registry for those who deal in Occult rather then an organization. It serves to pool assets from the best of the Occult underworld. The underground city of Agartha serves as the hub for the group serving as a meeting ground to gather information or accept jobs. Membership also allows entry to Animus indexes and safehouses across the globe.
One doesn't apply to join Animus. An invitation is sent after one commits a notable action, regardless the morality of it. Killed a dragon? Invitation. Found an ancient artifact? Invitation. Killed an entire village of smurfs? Sure why not! The member's highest achievement is normally used for an alias. Due to the nature of their work, members are often refered by their Animus Alias rather then their actual name.
The proof of membership is a thin, card-shaped slab of Orichalcum with the group's insignia inscribed on one side and a symbol specific to the owner of the card on the other which only reveals itself when in contact with its owner or their mana. The card also doubles as a communication device between members that have met each other and with a ritual that anyone with access to the materials and enough time can perform to open up a gateway to Agartha from anywhere there is a leyline.
Depending on the level of their achievements, members are classified into five tiers based on color; White, yellow, blue, red, and black. white being the lowest and black being the highest. Within the white, yellow and blue tiers is three more ranks; low (white), mid/base(gray), and high (black) which dictates what color the persons emblem is inscribed as. White repersents an untested individual, Maybe they are a student of a great teacher who reccommended them, or maybe they have slain one demon. etc. a yellow would be a more seasoned individual. They have stared into the abyss and have managed to keep their sanity... atleast mostly. But they have yet to do something truely noteworthy. Blues are amongst the elite of their field. They've survived where many have died before them and many after. Reds are masters of their craft. The best of the best. And finally, Black is the color of legends. The tier of biengs who could single-handedly save/destroy the world.

Agartha is an ancient lost city found under the mantle of the earth. It exhists within a pocket dimension that exists within the magical framework of the earth. What used to be a an ancient city with spires of rocks has evolved into a modern landscape with elements of new and old are interwoven together.
Due to its unique position and relation to the earth, It is effected by things that affect the world (I.E. If the planet would be blown up, So would Agartha etc. etc.). In addition to that, while in Agartha, the residents seem wispy and blurry, not revealing much more then general height, build and possibly gender, for this reason, most members wear a mask to be identified. Due to the inablity to be identified by any other means, most facilities require the use of the members card to give clearence to use their services.
Note: Due to Agartha's unique situation, one isnt there as themselves, but rather as a replaced avatar that is created in their image. Powers, weapons, magic, and artifacts cannot be used inside of Agartha's pocket dimension, physically, due to the fact that they do not exist inside of Agartha.
