Fast Times

"Suzy, pass me the laptop charger. I think I broke mine when we fought Dr. Know One." A blank screen starred back at Danny. The power cord ran from her wall, but the charge gave up, allowing her computer to die. Danny lifted the black box, seeing a crack in adapter. "Or maybe when we met that one Witch."

"I don't like her." Tsukimi sat on the other side of the dorm in a bath robe with pajama pants. "I'm doing work right now. You can use it when I'm done."

"Your laptop is charged, just loan it to me, then when yours gets low I'll-"

"There are too many moving parts in that plan. Please respect the decisions I have made, and in the future, try to plan more accordingly." Tsukimi continued to type away, filling the gap and silence when keystrokes.

A gaze situated between anger and admittance rested on Danny's face as she leaned over the back of her chair. "Well, I guess I can run to the store and see if any electronic departments are selling laptop cords tonight."

"Good luck Mongoose. Text me if you run into trouble."

"I'll have my bracelet. And, I'm just going to the campus store. I'm pretty sure Stanford is safe enough. People around here don't become supervillains until after they graduate." Danny pulled a Stanford Cheer sweatshirt over her shirt before slipping on a pair of tennis shoes. Her bracelet stayed tucked under the sleeve of the sweatshirt, keeping anyone from seeing the otherwise gaudy jewelry number. "I hope I don't get hit by car Suzy. It would be all your fault just so you know." Danny waved and closed the door behind her.

Tsukimi looked over to the closed door. "Can you get ice cream?"

Night came to Stanford, but it still stayed just early enough so the campus store would just begin the countdown to closing time. Danny held up her bracelet as a sudden breeze blew past her basketball shorts. The lights from the campus poles all shone down along the path leading from the apartment styled dorm Danny and Tsukimi shared, all the way down to the campus bookstore. "I got fifteen minutes, and a twenty minute walk. I wonder if this bracelet has super speed?"

It wasn't completely late but it was getting there and the bad people in California knew that. Palo Alto Diamonds was a jewelry store in downtown Palo Alto, California and it usually closed at 5pm daily. Today however was inventory day and inside was one of the associate who was tasked with inventory today, his name was Bill Wiler, 5'11, stocky build and enjoying life. He heard the bells from the door as they jingled while he did his stock work in the back. "We're closed" Bill said as he came out from back and noticed a man with a blue hue hovering his hands over the diamond casing.

"If you want to buy something we open at 9A-" Bill was shocked at the color of the man and the chilling smoke that came from his body.

"I know you're closed... That's why I'm here" The thin layer of glass would crackle as it froze before Frostbite slammed his hand through the ice and Bill pressed the emergency button directly near the doorway he was at. Immediately after his finger pressed the button he was frozen solid by Frostbite who was now annoyed by the glaring red light that blinked on and off as alarm went off.

Meanwhile at the Prodigy Mansion there was Blake who had an assignment due about some Ancient Egyptian Temple which he had no clue about. He was the nerd but about other things not involving history. "I wish Danny was here.." said Blake who wanted his former leaders help with his homework. She was the history buff in the group and would have been able to solve this near instantly. As Blake looked at a picture of them on the wall in his room he wondered why he was the only member of Prodigy who stuck around and operated out of the base house. It was then Blake's phone would go off and it was the Mansion alerting Blake of a threat located in Downtown Palo Alto which wasn't too far from Danny's school the threat happened to be a guy named Frostbite who has a 2-0 record on Blake which didn't make Blake too enthusiastic. Blake would look at the picture of him and Danny one more time before he dashed off.

To the command center Blake ran as he dashed into his suit and grabbed Danny's. Within a matter of moments Blake was already on the Stanford campus as he dashed through all the dorms before realizing she wasn't there. Now dashing through campus Blake found Danny walking down towards what seemed to be the school store. Taking her off her feet and continuing his mad dash but now to a secluded dark corner on campus where Blake would look at Danny who was probably going to be annoyed at Blake right about now. "Here, I brought this.. I need your help" said Blake as he passed Danny her suit. "I don't know if you noticed but this Frostbite guy keeps kicking my ass and I need your help." spoke a slightly frantic Blake.

Another breeze picked up. At first Danny thought nothing of it as she started her jog. A breeze would always find a welcome invitation from Danny, just as the previous one stroking her face- except this breeze came from behind. And picked her up. "Woah, what the-" The arm around her torso let her know the thoughts of her bracelet did not pull through and give her a new power set. Instead, Danny found herself being abducted on her own campus- or at least the attempt to abduct her played out.

With great velocity came great responsibility. A turquoise bar ran out of Danny's bracelet, putting an obstacle in front of Accel. The jilt of force to Accel would hopefully dislodge his grasp from Danny, allowing her to back handspring to safety. And, then get unsafe. A turquoise blade would pull out from both of her wrists while five turquoise orbs would begin to levitate around her. "Time for a lesson in campus safety creep!"

Her Prodigy suit laid at her feet. "I remember you. I recruited you, then never saw you again. And, now you're roaming around California, stalking me, and getting in fights with people named Frostbite? One minute." The five orbs turned into solid walls, giving Danny a changing room. Contrary to popular belief, women could get ready faster than any guy at any time. Danny got her suit zipped up in record time, then thought about making Accel wait a little, but finally decided against it. "Frostbite? Who is that?"

Blake remembered the first time he picked Danny up and her less than optimistic attitude towards Blake's powers made him laugh. She never came off as a big fan of the rookie speedster nor his abilities. Slithering from the arm of Danny a bar of energy formed in front of him which looked like it would knock the speedster square on his ass if he ran into that thing at his current speed. Quickly his right leg would push off the ground allowing him to spin off of the wall reaching his destination before he would crash into the wall. "Danny what the hell, don't kill me"

Blake would hear Danny run back everything he said to her previously and she sounded more confused as to why Blake came to her instead of why he was facing some guy named Frostbite. "Okay, just hurry up and changed, I need your help because I'm tired of getting my ass kicked by this guy and his stupid ice powers." thinking of the last two encounters with Frostbite just rubbed Blake the wrong way as he began to feel chilly as if he were frozen solid again which happened the first time he tried to fight Frostbite on his own.

Danny began to change and the orbs would form some damn changing room around her. Blake thought that was pretty cool and even smirked when he saw that Danny changed fast for a girl. Now she wanted to know about Frostbite "He's a meta-human who isn't the nicest guy out there and has really deadly powers. Need I say more? Let's go" As Blake would attempt to pick Danny up he would look at her "Don't try and turn me into tomato sauce again" firmly said the speedster as they would dash off.

The suit fit better than she remembered, like pulling old memories over new skin. Except she never asked, or wanted for those memories to come back. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless changing room could not get here fast enough, but for now, Danny needed to bail out someone whom happened to look her up to fight a supervillain. And all Danny wanted was a laptop charger. Fighting Evil. Be back later/tomorrow. I have a term paper. Please write. Please.

Danny dissipated her turquoise barriers and stepped out. "Where is this guy?" A buzz shook through her pocket. No. A quick, abrupt text message read. "Well, you suck Suzy. How is this Frostbite showing you up? And, what is he doing with those ice powers?"

Letting this guy carry her made Danny's stomach turn for a reason she could not put her finger on, but in order to get this plan in action, she knew she needed to saddle up.

Blake and Danny were now ready to deal with Frostbite it seemed. The speedster wasn't in the happiest mood when it came to Frostbite because he wasn't trying to lose again but hopefully having Danny around for a combo of abilities could propel Blake over the hump when it came to this particular villain. Once Blake would dash off with Danny and start heading downtown they would notice it began to get a lot colder than normal "Danny, we're not in California anymore" joked Blake as he started slowing down as a means of avoiding slipping on the ice.

A few blocks from their current location Blake and Danny would probably hear the sirens from the police cars that chased down Frostbite as he glided through Palo Alto on a wave of ice. "Bingo" before Blake would skate off towards the sounds of the sirens where he would see Frostbite 14 feet in the air on his wave of ice 3 meters in front of the police as if he was enjoying the chase. This is where Blake would place Danny between the police cars as they passed so she wouldn't get hit by the traffic. The speedster would then advance forward towards Frostbite.

Using his speed to his best ability on the ice Accel would start to reach Frostbite which caused the ice user to lose concentration and dismount from his ice and come to equal ground with Accel who had just been knocked off the ice by a backhand from the ice demon Frostbite. "Don't you get tired of losing to me Accel? All that speed and you're out here trying to "help" people. Why don't you mind your business and stop playing hero" said Frostbite as he made his way over to the downed Accel who was beginning to get his grounding back.

The drop off left a great deal of stress on Danny's legs. Even with her bearings held together, she still found herself pushed forward into the side of a cop car. "We're going to deal with landings. Why am I next to cops?" Her audible annoyance changed the tilt of heads around her, causing her to raise a finger as a show of contrition. "This is not where Is hould be. And, I am not coming up with a good excuse right now. You're probably going to tell me to stand back or go home or something, but I can do this." A turquoise quarter staff materialized in her hand, extending to push two cruisers aside so Danny could show herself to the event. "Sorry about the cruisers, those dents will pop right out."

When someone brought ice, you learned to skate. Two turquoise blades coated the bottom of Danny's shoes, allowing her to glide over the ice, then propel herself to ass whooping speeds. While Frostbite approached the downed Accel, Danny came from behind with blazing speed of her own. And, a quarterstaff. The quarterstaff did a great deal of the ass whooping to the back of Frostbite's head. His head ass to be exact.

A pointed head formed around the bridge of the quarterstaff, forming a harpoon. The harpoon shot towards Frostbite with enough force to break any ice barriers he could summon up, but before skewering him, the harpoon would shift into a bolas. The opposite sides would fluster in the air until the joined in unison, wrapping Frostbite to a telephone poll. "I don't know if I should say 'cool down' or 'chill out', so I'll just do the better thing and keep it to myself."

The downed Accel was waiting to be frozen solid by Frostbite unless Danny acted quick. The young speedster wasn't prepared to go 0-3 against Frostbite especially not today, Accel wanted to impress Danny as he had some weird crush on her. Maybe she just came off as that "Older unobtainable girl" to him and he wanted every piece of it, even if it meant she would use one of her charms to kill him someday. As he was curled up blocking his face on the ground Accel would utter out "Anytime Sphinx" hoping the girl would get around to eventually saving him from the situation.


When Accel wasn't frozen solid instantly he would open his eyes and look up to see Danny kicking ass and Frostbite not knowing how to react to her skills. It seemed the frozen villain had a weakness to magic and Danny was exposing it like no tomorrow. Accel would zoom off and appear next to the cops wearing one of their hats. "You ever wonder what a guy has to do to get a girl like that?" said Accel as he leaned on the cop who was now missing a hat. The cop would look at him and wonder in his mind what was wrong with Accel in the head. They would both watch as Danny finished him off and tied him to the pole.

Zooming over to Danny's side Accel would begin to speak "Would you be willing to come back to the house? You know, the old mansion.. I wanted to talk to you about something Sphinx" spoke Accel as he watched the cops arrest the knocked out Frostbite.

Gloating over a capture rarely made antics come across as more heroic, but Danny loved her selfies with captured villains too much to not break out her phone. "Chill!" Whether Frostbite would like it or not, Danny finished the fight and uploaded the photo evidence to her Instagram account. "Didn't plan on it, but I guess a million likes doesn't hurt."

While it did not hurt, it did not get her any closer to the goals set out an hour ago for her night. All things considered, she finished the fight for Accel, so now he would most likely stop bothering her.

Until her revealed his real intentions.

"Prodigy Manor?" A feeling of dread sank in Danny. Well, not dread, annoyance. Maybe not even annoyance, reluctance. A reluctance came over Danny. "I don't know if you know, but I was doing things tonight. I need to be ready for tomorrow-" Danny looked down to her phone, catching a glimpse of the time. "There is no store open right now. Great. Alright, let's go to Prodigy Manor. And look for batteries. And, then get me back."

To say Danny was annoyed with Blake would be an understatement. He always got under her skin with his constant chatter and lack of self awareness but now he was just annoying her because he needed her. Whatever she had planned she would have to sacrifice for the time being, even though Blake was being selfish here he needed Danny to hear him out. "Look, It'll just take a minute to hear me out back at HQ. Once we're done I'll bring you back here. Promise"

Once she spoke once more agreeing to go Blake smiled showing her fresh white teeth and all "Perfect" He would exclaim before sweeping Danny off her feet and taking her back to the Manor where she use to stay. Where would they go to be exact? They'd be standing in Danny's old room for the most part was untouched since she left Blake had made sure of that due to how much he looked up to Danny after recruiting him.

"I'm just gonna say it. Danny I'm a lost dog without Prodigy." said Blake who would remove his mask so Danny could see Blake and not Accel. "Ever since the group separated I've been doing my thing here in the West Coast but I'm aimless without the team. I could always go home to Manhattan.. But I feel like everybody needs Prodigy here. I've put guys like Frostbite out left and right and by myself I'm starting to take a beating."
