The Ice Gem

Genevieve Montreal was born in Beverly Hills California to an impressively wealthy family. Her farther is a lawyer and her mother a doctor. Gena was not spoiled as a little girl and her parents taught her how to work and make her own way in life. Money always had a value to it and she never spent it as if it had not end. She gave back and was a very friendly person, however many people throughout her life misjudged her before they even knew her. Gena dressed nice and supported herself, but to the outside world, it looked as if mommy and daddy bought her everything. She didn't let those people get to her though, she had her friends who liked her for who she was and respected that she was as independent as almost anyone they knew, especially in that town. Both her parents made themselves into the successful people that they are now and always told her to do the same and that she was a perfect kid in her own way. Her parents did not have abilities, but their mother and father did. They hoped that Genevieve could go on with her life as a normal human without any special powers or anything like that. Both of them had heard such terrible stories about 'freak' kids in high school with powers that god mad fun of or picked on. They felt that her life would be much easier if they did not have to deal with the stress of trying to control her own abilities and keep up with her own social life. But that was not entirely how it turned out for them..
At the age of 14, Genevieve and her parents discovered that there was something special about her. When she would wake up in the morning, her whole room would be frost covered if not entirely iced over. Thankfully, nothing happened during the day or while she was at school. Unfortunately though, Gena always had to skip out on her friends' sleep over parties or at least leave them early. As she got older, her abilities progressed, but not how she would have liked. From 14 to 16, whenever she got nervous, instead of heating up and sweating she would cool off and just give off cold air. People were starting to notice and making remarks as it increasingly got worse. Her teachers talked to her parents about it and her friends stopped hanging out with her. By mutual agreement, Gena left her high school and was home schooled for the remainder of her high school career. With the extra time, she practiced with her abilities trying to get the hang of them so that she could blend back into society. She could not have asked for any more supportive parents, they were extremely understanding and tried to help her out any way that they could. It was a tough world and they knew better than anyone that it would be hard to make it.
Genevieve got her high school diploma at 18 and had pretty good control of her abilities. Her and her parents decided it would be best if she went out to find other people that could help her further master her abilities. Her farther did a little bit of research and work to find someone that might be able to help her wit her abilities. Mr. Montreal found exactly that. There were reports of someone in the Arctic who had the same if not similar abilities to that of Genevieve. He gave her a fake name and did everything he could to get her down there to master her abilities to the greatest extent. This was a very different experience for Genevieve, she was very much used to the sun and warmth of California, the look of everything was nothing that she could have imagined. She was bundled up tight and felt comfortable, but little did she know that it was the cold that did not have any affect on her or her body temperature. Once she found the man who was to teach her, the explorers that had been assigned to watch over her were sent back after properly resting for a few days. This man that Genevieve had met was rather aged, but was very hospitable. They got to work, and the first thing that Gena was taught that she was impervious to the cold. She listened to every word the sage like man had to say and work with him every hour of the day. Back at home, her parents were extremely worried about her, they tried to continue on with their lives but it simply was not the same without their daughter. They tried to contact her in any way that they could, but never herd a response of any sort.
Back down in Antarctica, the days and months had blurred together and Genevieve had lost any sense of time. Her training encompassed every aspect of her life while she was down there. There was nothing else to do but eat, train and rest. Before long, two years had past and the old man had told her that there was nothing else that he had to teach her. She offered to stay down in the Arctic with him so that she could help take care of him in his final years. He denied her kind offer and urged her to get home, he was certain that her family was worried beyond all compare. A few months before her training had ended, Gena attempted to send a letter back home. She had to travel to one of the science bases and drop off the letter, there was no way that she could get replies so she noted in the letter that she would be home soon but that all is well and not not reply. Her parents received the letter only days before she returned. They were never happier to hear from their daughter. Once she returned they went out for a big celebratory dinner and it was a nice fairy tale ending. After a couple of months of staying home and catching up with her parents and simply just spending time with them, Genevieve decided to go out to help other people with her abilities. She figured that she had a gift, why not use it and share it with the rest of the world? Her parents didn't want her to go, but they understood her motives. She promised that she would visit whenever she could, and would stay in contact with them as much as possible. Genevieve Montreal set off on her adventure hoping to make a heroic name for herself. Though her own parents were not supers, she wanted them to be proud of her.
