Sexual Content 2: Sexual content is permitted. References and writing about genitalia and sex acts are permitted, but explicit detail is not. Fade to black, or use the dotdotdot rule. (Let's keep it PG-13.)
Violence 2: Graphic violence is permitted. Explicit description or in-game narration violence is allowed.
Despite these ratings, keep in mind that there is a limit, and you should not cross it just to garner attention. Also, resorting to curse words is also like adding senseless fluff to your posts.

A Rude Awakening (Open)
Miles opened the door to his less than luxurious apartment. Making his way through the cramped kitchen, he spotted the large sedimentary form of what must have been his roommate Russel passed out on the couch in the main room. Russel was a very lazy man and Miles hardly ever saw him leave the apartment. Sweeping his hand, Miles shooed a few flies that flurried around the kitchen, stopping to soak up bits of food on the stack of unwashed plates next to the sink. As he should of figured, Russel's lack of action extended to simple household chores too. With a heavy sigh Miles went to his bedroom and opened up the closet.
He flipped through the racks of clothing before stopping on his homemade superhero suit. Quickly stripping down he changed and paused as he glanced into the main living area, wondering what Russel would think if he saw Miles dressed as Obsidian Lad. Miles figured Russel would be too lazy to care. The cool of the night made Obsidian Lad feel very mysterious as he walked into the night. Sure, he got a few looks here and there by those who were less than used to seeing a man clad in a skin tight purple and black bodysuit but it didn't really bother Miles that much. He had one thing on his mind, it was time to make his crime fighting debut in the great New York City!
He simply wandered for around a half hour or so, mostly sticking to alleyways and side streets. So far he hadn't found anything exciting, mostly just surprising the women of the night working their trade in the shadows. Eventually, wandering around paid off for Miles and a fellow jumped out of the shadows at him brandishing a knife.
"Heyo spandex man, hand over the wallet and nobody gets hurt." The man was about 6' 2" with a little bit of a belly on him. It was clear his height and the knife were the only things he had going for him. In essence, he was simply a common thug. Miles smirked and put his hands up in the air.
"Sorry buddy but I don't carry my wallet with me when I'm out kicking asses. In fact, I'm gonna give you one chance to walk away before you find me kicking yours."
The man narrowed his eyes, sizing Miles up. Suddenly he gave a war cry and charged forward, swinging the blade wildly in Obsidian Lad's direction. Miles was on edge, perked and ready for a fight. Quickly he delivered a swift kick to the man's arm, causing him to flinch and fumble the knife. Miles followed with a punch to the throat and the would be mugger found himself wheezing and clutching his neck in an attempt to get his air back. Miles bent down and picked up the knife, tossing it away from them closer to the wall on the other side of the alley.
"Listen up, when you're breathing right, tell all your wannabe friends that Obsidian Lad is in town." Turning to walk away Miles cringed a little bit. Granted it was a corny line but he needed to establish some street cred for himself. After all, that's what superheroes do right? Ah well, it would come in due time, he thought as he walked down another side street. He felt a hunger in his heart, he was ready for more.

Re: A Rude Awakening (Open)
The breeze gently lapped against Shard's long black hair as she slid through the air, levitating via the countless numbers of silicone and glass shards that formed her costume. New York City was not her city, in fact she was only here to visit her aunt but got restless in the dead of night. To ensure that no one would see the pattern between Shard's appearance in New York City and Jade's sudden arrival, Shard decided to don a different outfit for the night (not that she thought anyone actually cared enough to deduce her civilian identity.)
Her usual brilliant display of stained glass was replaced with clear or black glass that wrapped around her dress. Shard thus commanded these fragments to constantly sway as though there was a breeze that only affected her. She wore a mask over her face that left her eyes exposed, this too was covered in a layer of protective glass that had an additional decorative film causing the mask to glitter when struck with light. Her chest was then covered in a series of silicate layers to faintly resemble a breastplate that covered the entirety of her chest. Lastly came the pauldrons on her shoulders and the fragments that made up her cape. Shard had spent the better part of the day studying the flow of an actual cape to adopt into her uniform. Usually she would have placed glass fragments onto an actual cape and donned that, but she believed that a cape of her glass would be more functional than other materials. Was the costume a bit overdone and complicated? Yes. But to be quite frank Aunt Thuy was known for being oblivious.
Nevertheless, Jade relished a chance to step into her Shard identity again. She soared through the night air through lifting the silicate on her body and landed on one of New York's countless rooftops. Shard reached out with her power and attempted to discreetly gather large pieces of glass. The abundance of troubled neighborhoods and defunct vehicles made this an easy task. Now, for the actual crime fighting...
A cry from her right caught her attention. Shard took a deep breath and stepped off the side of the building. Her powers kicked in and arrested her fall mid air, and propelled her towards the source of the sound. Shard gracefully glided through the city of New York again until she reached the source of the punching and kicking that she had expected to follow the screaming. She landed gently on the rooftop nearby and simply watched as the man dressed in black and purple spandex kicked the ever loving crap out of the man with the knife.
A martial artist? Shard mused as the man announced himself, though he was a bit out of her earshot. Did he say that he was in town? Who still talks like that? Wait a minute... is he a visitor here too? Or is he a new hero? Either way I can probably use an ally in my time here. Besides, networking with other heroes are so hard nowadays- wait... is he a hero? Crap I didn't see what happened. Did that guy deserve to get his ass kicked? I don't know... probably? Fuck, Obscenity Lad is getting further away. What are you going to do Jade?!
She stepped off of the building and descended to the ground in front of the man in purple and black as gracefully as a feather. The glass that made up her costumed clinked against one another as she folded her arms to size up the hero...renegade...villain in front of her.
"Are you just going to leave him like that?" She asked though her voice was utterly muffled by her mask. Rather embarrassed, Shard lifted up her mask and had the glass shape itself to either side so as to leave her mouth free. "So... uh... I asked you if you're just going to leave him... over there... like that. He looks like he could be really hurt. "

Re: A Rude Awakening (Open)
As he headed down the street Miles wasn't sure he was doing the whole hero thing right. Granted, the man had attacked him first, but Miles doubted kicking random muggers was the way to go about all of this. What was he trying to prove anyway? Miles wanted to make an actual difference and while taking down petty criminals was noble and all, he yearned for the chance to take down something/someone bigger. Someone that would get his alter ego, Obsidian Lad, in the newspaper.
Suddenly a figure appeared in front of him as it dropped down. The figure glided gracefully and in his surprise Miles suspected it was due to some sort of meta power. To Miles, the figure appeared to be wearing some sort of black glass? He wasn't sure but it seemed like something that would be rather unpleasant if it got anywhere close to his exposed skin. Suddenly the figure mumbled like it was trying to say something to him. Miles was about to ask it to speak up when it reached up and cleared the mask from in front of its face. According to it's dress Miles figured out it was female and he hoped it was a hero.
"So... uh... I asked you if you're just going to leave him... over there... like that. He looks like he could be really hurt."
"Eh?" Miles meekly glanced over in the direction of the wounded thug he dispatched just moments earlier. "Well, I mean, I'm not exactly strong enough to carry him anywhere and I doubt the paramedics would bother dispatching to this area...Also, I kinda hoped he'd send a message for me..To the other criminals." Miles cringed again, that really had sounded stupid. He shrugged and started to head back in the direction of the attempted mugger and motioned for Shard to follow him. "Who are you, anyway? I am Obsidian Lad and I tell ya', it sure is nice to see another hero in these parts." Miles assumed she was a hero due to her concern about the injured fellow but he secretly wished it would have been his first nemesis. Miles was a strange hero.

Re: A Rude Awakening (Open)
So Jeannie's adventures have led her to new york, based on her comic books knowledge lots of superheroes live there so by that reasoning there should be lots bad guys there to she can catch for nice big bounties.
She's wondering about her super hearing picks up the sound of a struggle she decided to check it out . upon arriving at the scene of an alleyway she notices an oddly dressed pair a man in purple spandex!
wow, there actual heroes out there that actually were those she always thought that was more of a comic book thing that got your attention and looked cool than practical,so clingy . wonder if he has some cool powers to go with the fancy attire .
Then there's a woman in glasses armor? ok not what she'd make armor out of it shatters and goes every where. maybe it's the bulletproof kind they put in cars. that be kinda heavy.
Well compared to them she feels a little underdressed for this justice league meeting in her blue jeans and Ramone's t-shirt. they seem to be talking about what to do about the man on the ground.
a mugger? She goes over and looks at the man,she pulls some papers out of a bag and looks through them glancing back at the mugger every so often. She then smiles with a Cheshire cat grin happily with the idea of her search just starting and a potential bounty dropped right in front of her,if only they could all be this easy.
found you,oww you just a petty purse snatcher oh well guess ever penny counts and it is my duty to catch all bad guys, you're all nice and gift wrapped too so I'd be silly to let you go.
she looks at the two heroes, huh guess they're the do it for free types, well that might be good she wouldn't have shared the bounty then sense it's small as it is already, hopefully, there some bigger fish she can fry latter.
ohm you kinda doing it wrong Mr. you can't get the prize if you don't turn them in. You catch them to bring them to the cops and they give you money that's how the game works.
If you guys have no uses for him, can I have him? I'll gladly take him off your hands, surely you two have better things to do then discuss rather than to leave bums in alleys right?

Re: A Rude Awakening (Open)
It was a great night and Coronel was more drawn out as a night man who liked looking at the stars and well concealing his identity in the dark? .... Umm; moving on. As he would move around his paid apartment he looked for desirable things to please his time for being there. He was juggling furniture in the air and was skating around watching the clock. Well he could definitely say it was boring and maybe a bit to dull. Was the furniture necessary? Or was it to much and in the way? It didn't matter since the next thing he did was throw it all out the window. The manager would definitely be pissed.
He decided to leave the TV and sofa just in case the time called. As so he picked up the remote and flipped over to news and so caught wind of a random hero near an even going on in NYC. Hero he said? Must be a random stray who patrols the streets.
Coronel immediately grabbed his over coat and headed for said event in the hurry he could find the hero. A hero would make his night more fun. It sucks to have to stay awake for every hour of the day.
-------------------------
He Flew in the air when not only did his senses catch on hero, but three and he was pretty far from them so they were really big fish on his book. It was nice when a night came to him like this.
He landed on the roof top as the other two heroes joined in the alley and seemed to start talking to each other. It was pretty funny how it seemed heroes or even villains without sensory could always find each other in alleys. Even if there were thousands in New York.
It seemed like one of the three was a bounty collector. Good! It would make his night if she had his paper, but he was worth billions if not trillions in property damage and killings in several countries. "Well time to check the bounty" he thought as he leaped into the alley. He looked up at the girl who was the bounty collector and grinned. So how many heroes will die tonight? I'll give you a chance to count.

Re: A Rude Awakening (Open)
Hearing that the man- no, boy, in front of her was a hero was a bit of relief to Shard. She didn't want to get into a fight with another metahuman on her first night out in New York. And as a plus she was glad that his name was Obsidian Lad and... not the other thing.
"I call myself Shard," She replied as she followed him back towards the injured man, "And I don't think that's how it works." She quickly clarified her statement, "The whole sending a message thing I mean. From what I've noticed we're just another couple of freaks in spandex beating on people down on their luck- at least from their perspective." She stopped, maintaining a distance from both Obsidian Lad and the hurt man, not that she didn't trust the hero, she just worked better from a distance. But the pause did give her a moment to think, "I guess what I'm trying to say is that we really don't make ripples in the pool? I mean, unless you take down some big bad."
Almost as if on cue someone appeared and zipped past both herself and Obsidian Lad to approach the fallen man. Instinctively Shard raised pieces of glass across her costume, much like a porcupine raised its quills. Her power told her of the pair of spectacles on the girl's face. Though she loathed drawing blood, Shard recognized that if push came to shove most people couldn't dodge something that was literally sitting in front of their face. The silicate manipulator blinked her eyes and cleared away the thoughts.
"The polite thing to do is to find another bounty," Shard called out in warning, for a second she was back in L.A facing off against someone who would take her quarry from her. "And" She added, "No one likes a scavenger." Despite her words of warning, the shards on her armor relaxed somewhat, though still primed to fire should the situation come up. Also despite her heavy words, this was ultimately up to Obsidian Lad who had taken down this... mugger?
God I hope he is a truly awful human being and not just someone poor.
Then a voice from behind her... one that she recognized from a long time ago...
Fucking fuck,
"Run!" Shard shouted as she collapsed her cape into the tiniest of shards and sent them flying towards the telekinetic villain to create a cloud cover. The last time that Shard ran into this guy a more experienced hero came to save the day. Though she was arguably more experienced now, Shard was not in a mood to go toe to toe against this lunatic with two relative unknowns.

Re: A Rude Awakening (Open)
how rude scavenger! Jeannie feels this shard girl and her seem have gotten off on the wrong foot or she just has a very annoying personality.
huh yeah I guess it would be polite. but we seem to have a failure to communicate sparkles I thought you said you weren't interested in turning him in and now you are how confusing . besides the incredible plum here caught him so it's his bounty to decides .
so Obsidian Lad ,huh shouldn't you be wearing black? you look more like Amethyst lad. you're clearly new at this, but turning bad guys in is a much effective way to stop them,I get your idea about wanting to send a message.
but stopping them permanently works better,if you let him go he'll just go back to doing bad guy stuff. but if we put him in jail he can't and other bad guys will be more nervous cause they don't want get caught.
SO if you want I'll split the bounty on him with you,in exchange for helping you with your first time cashing in a bounty and then we can catch some more baddies, it'll be fun
Before the man in purple can replay a familiar smell then hear's a voice she heard before. she turns to see a man with white hair.
it's that guy she meet that time with the vampires.
He is asking about heroes dying and her counting.
hello again mister corpse are you chasing more vampires? Huh, i think it would be best if no heroes died, and why ask me to count I hate math.
Shard says something about running and does some fun flying glass thingy. Wait why are they fighting poor Mr. corpse people must assume his a bad guy cause how he looks. That speedster guy and spaceman that helped her and mr.lee with the vampires attack Mr. corpse to but he was helping with the vampires.
Is he a bad guy? seems odd how other heroes don't like him much. Now would be a good time to sneak away with her prize sense glass girl is distracted, but she Does feel like it would be rude to cut the spandex clad man out since he did all the work.
Huh while waiting to see what his move is she sits the mugger so he can't get away in the confusion and looks through her bounty papers to see if the deadman is in them she's got a feeling she's missing something about him

Re: A Rude Awakening (Open)
Another hero showed up and began talking about bounties and such as she looked over the broken would be mugger that Miles dispatched earlier. Well, Miles assumed she was a hero as she wasn't directly attacking himself or Shard yet. Shard spoke to him about his idea of sending a message.
"Not trying to make ripples in the pool? Hell, I'm trying to jump in and make the waves crash over the people sunning themselves by the shallows."
While Shard and the newcomer argued about bounties, Miles thought about it for a second. He didn't exactly become a hero for the money, he became a hero for the glory. While taking down the petty thugs was something realistic for him, it wasn't exactly what he wanted. However, with his lack of powers it would have to do for now.
Miles's attention turned to the bounty hunter who was now asking him about his choice of clothing. "Well you see, it's Obsidian Lad because that-" Miles paused as Shard shouted and sent some of those pieces of glass at a fellow who had suddenly leaped down into the alley. He said something to the bounty hunter about heroes dying, sending a wave of panic through Miles. He sure as hell didn't move to New York City to be killed his first night of crime fighting. However, Miles stayed put where he was, he would gauge how powerful this other fellow was before deciding to act.

Re: A Rude Awakening (Open)
As he landed and everyone took notice of his gracefulness; it seemed like two of them seemed familiar and what would be his lucky day was he had attacked one of the three in the past. She would quickly tell everyone to run and try to throw glass at him, but frantic and careless actions are what keep people from making the wiser decision.
Coronel gripped his fist and a thick wall of telekinetic energy formed in front of him creating a very durable wall that was as transparent as air, but the only thing that you could see is the glass lodged in trying to push through his defenses.
You know what? It is not the best thing to rush a conversation and its not great to just randomly attack someone... girl. That was the only name he could think of at the time for her. He remembered her from the side fight with someone with greater fighting abilities than his own.
He looked back up at his wall of awesomeness and decided he should return the favor and swap his blows like turns.
He pulled his arm back and the swung forward as a great wind picked up blowing dust through the alley and into the street, but no worry since the dust would be cleared in seconds. Soon a giant dragon shaped instrument of debris was created and sent right towards the alley way. It picked up trash, cars, and ripped up concrete to throw at his fellow heroes.
The debris monster collided with the two buildings cutting straight through aiming to destroy the group before they could dodge.(((Yes you can dodge. dont make this line seem god modding)))

Re: A Rude Awakening (Open)
Without hesitation Shard stepped into the air and flew up diagonally opposite of the incoming telekinetic force. In that same instant her glass shards that had been gathered around her bloomed out and wrapped onto Obsidian Lad and the bounty hunter. If they allowed it, Shard would use her powers to toss them into the air the exact moment that the telekinetic force came crashing into the alley, though only by a margin.
The rest of the glass shards that were hovering around Shard flew into position and fired off in a volley. Four would fly in arcs to hit from behind- a task which would be normally impossible if Shard had not been guiding each shard of glass with her power, while the other six would fly straight for the villain. The arching pieces of glass would go wide, looking like they missed but would then loop around and fly straight towards the villain's back.
(If the two had allowed Shard to lift them)
Shard would then deposit the two onto a nearby rooftop and hovered a distance away from the pair. If her memory with this villain was correct then he mainly used telekinetic forces. She had thought that he focused his telekinesis through swords but that must have been just a prop.
Nevertheless Shard would remain vigilant for any sign of attack.

Re: A Rude Awakening (Open)
bingo Jeannie found the mystery man a Coronel Liffy. No way the bounty on this guy huge. She got figure out how to bring him in. Wait if he's a zombie does that mean his bounty expired? Huh, guess she could just bring him in then yet the cops sort it out.
So obsidian was about his interesting outfit and title he is interrupted,by a metal dragon? When'd that get here?
Jeannie looks and sees that shards glass attack wasn't very effective as coronel stopped it in its tracks.
Oh yeah, she remembers now he's a Jedi in addition to being a zombie and can chuck stuff around with his head. Crappy glass girl probably just ticked him off now he's going to chuck a building at them or something like with the vampires last time they meet.
We'll that makes sense why a scrap metal dragons coming at them. Looks like it's going to be one of those nights. thinking quickly she sees a dumpster smell but just what she needs right now. glass girl's armor can protect her but even though Jeannie could most likely survive it she'd rather avoid being impaled by flying metal. She's not sure why in comics people like her just get hit by stuff cause they can it still hurts.
wonder how obsidian lad will do? maybe if he turns into rock or something at the moment he appears not to be doing much of anything. o no rookie with the deer in the headlights look. have no fear noob Jeannie is here to get you to level two.
not wanting to leave empty handed she decides to save the mugger, she can always come back and get him if catching crazy zombie man don't work. She throws him in the dumpster first then goes to obsidian lad sorry about this it's kinda gross but beats being dead right She grabs his arm pulling him into the dumpster with her.
hold on this might get bumpy
She pulls the lid shut as the metal monster comes crashing through sending them tumbling down the ally, huh hope they land right side up she didn't count on that being stuck in a dumpster could be embarrassing. Well they'd have plenty of time to figure out how to get out latter not going through a meat grinder dragons was slightly more of a first concern.
