Likes to use the lightning to obscure his appearance entirely, seeming like he's just a lightning bolt, with a humanoid figure inside, no details to be seen - hence "The Man in the Lightning"

The Legacy

Personality: Jones is a technological master, knowing computers inside and out. Other than that, he's easy to anger and seems to have a screw loose. Treats all humans as inferior, even if they can overpower him easily. Likes video games, which weren't available on his planet - and are, thus, the only thing he likes about Earth as a whole.

History: John Jones, AKA Lightningrod, is a humanoid alien. Not much is known about his race or planet, and most assume he's human when not in-suit - and in-suit as well during his early appearances. He was sent here without a craft to carry him, forming lightning around himself - seeming to be nothing but a lightning strike at first - around the year 2015. Quickly, he let the lightning off of his being, showing his normal appearance to be mostly humanoid, but with the addition of sparks crackling off of himself. He looked to be around 14 to 15 at the time. He quickly entered the city, hiding amongst the shadows, until he sneaked into a store and stole clothing, to allow himself to blend in. During his first days on Earth, he found himself attacked by multiple gangs, giving himself a great hatred for humanity. While continuing to blend in on Earth through the guise 'John Jones' and learning the electronics this planet gave, he trained in hiding by draining power from his own home's outlet and using it on 'target' pillows, until this year, where he finally decided to unleash them. Dubbing himself "Lightningrod," after the Earth creation that allows lightning to be turned into power, he decided to get revenge on humanity for the poor way he was treated.

The Powers and Weaknesses

Powers

Power 1: Electricity manipulation - He can absorb and weld electricity - overuse of charging through electronics has caused him to only be able to absorb through human-created power sources, and he cannot drain others' powers through this method.

Power 2: Flight - He can transport himself inside a ball of electricity in flight. Can still fire while flying, though it requires more power.

Weakness(es)

Weakness 1: If he can't recharge during fights, he may run out of power if you just keep dodging his blasts.

Weakness 2:

RP Mechanics

RP Mechanic(s): Lightningrod won't be a willing partner with any human - and likely, not a partner with a human when threatened, either. This can quickly get confusing to people who think he's human. Long story short, if he offers a partnership to you and you're a human, get ready to be backstabbed. Most people won't know this, however, because of his confusingly human appearance. He also doesn't take kindly to metahumans.

Still need one more weakness. 1 power needs 1 weakness to counter it/balance it. It's a 1:1 ratio no matter what limitations you put on the power.

But what other weak spots would a danged energy being HAVE? It's not like you can reflect pure LIGHTNING back at someone with a MIRROR, and I doubt he would be very threatening if he could only absorb a battery's worth of electricity. Not trying to argue, but I couldn't really think of any other weaknesses that would make sense for him...I guess, if all else fails, my alternate option would be to cut flying, but then he would be too easy to hit, you could just walk right up to him and !POW! while he's charging.

Lol, little snippy eh? Hold up dude, before you get crazy and remove flight or anything just look at a few other weaknesses...

Rubber: Electricity doesn't conduct to rubber and ultimately blocks electrical energy.

Weather: Due to his electrical nature, flying tends to be hazardous and unreliable in storms, rain or other hazardous environments.

Heat: Lightning is stimulated and positively charged particles following a particular paradigm. As such, if exposed to intense heat his ability to control and absorb electrical energy becomes increasingly difficulty and ultimately volatile. This could prove dangerous to all people, the user included.

Shorting out: If submerged in water from the knees (or above) his powers periodically short out, preventing him form projecting absorbed energies.

These are just a few you could use. Other weaknesses could include personality weaknesses that others might be able to take advantage of. Examples being depression, or crippling claustrophobia, maybe even arrogance.
