Personality:
Sadie is manipulative, distrusting, and charismatic. Upon first meeting someone, Sadie would appear reserved, but as the interaction went on she would study the other person's reactions to her and change her behavior to put them at ease. After all, it is much easier to manipulate someone when their guard is down. Meanwhile, she never lets her own guard down. Only one person has ever been allowed to see her true self, the vivacious yet somewhat broken girl within. Though she does sometimes show glimpses, when she teases any hero or cop who tries to foil her thefts or when she can be heard laughing into the darkness after a particularly thrilling heist.

But her true colors are usually seen when she is alone. Sometimes she will fall into bouts of loneliness and melancholy. However she rarely lets herself dwell on those feelings long. Her preferred method of pushing down her feelings involves going to bars or clubs, drinking heavily, and then going home with strangers. It's not an ideal method by any definition, but it works for her.

History:

Sadie Lynn Collins was born in April of 1998 to Johnathan and Bridget Collins, both highly respected scientists researching metahumans. They were wealthy and seemingly exceedingly happy. Unfortunately, that could not have been further from the truth. Johnathan was a highly charismatic man who abused his wife regularly. He fell into the pattern many abusive husbands follow, telling his wife that it was her fault he was always hitting her, blaming her for not cooking the food properly, or for ironing his shirt wrong and then buying her flowers and gifts to apologize.

When Sadie was three, Bridget was killed in a mugging gone wrong. She had gone out to the store because they were out of milk and Sadie had wanted cereal. Because of that, Johnathan blamed Sadie (who in turn blamed herself) for his wife's death, and the physical abuse she received from him was far worse than what her mother had gone through. While he had slapped Bridget around about once a week, Sadie found herself being hit multiple times over the course of one day. That is, until her power of intangibility finally emerged at the age of fourteen.

Her father, having no supernatural powers himself, was shocked and disgusted with her. He promptly threw her out on the streets with nothing but the clothes on her back. The scared girl wandered around the city for a few hours before a cold determination set in. She spent the next three weeks practicing with her newfound ability, only taking breaks to eat, drink, sleep, and use the bathroom. On the forth week, she was caught stealing food and had to use her ability to escape, though thankfully managed to hide so that the storeowner would simply think she was sneaky as opposed to what she really was. After that, she learned how to be stealthy.

A year later, she met a conman named Nick Cowen who took pity on her. At the time she was malnourished, dirty, homeless, and terrified; he brought her to the loft he had conned his way into, fed her and let her clean up. Even though he showed her kindness, she was terrified. She had known other street kids who had gone home with seemingly kind men, only to end up abused and/or killed. However, for the first time in her life, Sadie had caught a break. Nick confessed that she reminded him of his sister, who had died on the streets. And so in memory of her, Nick offered to teach Sadie how to thrive. She learnt the trades of con artists such as manipulation and slight of hand, he taught her Krav Maga in case she was attacked, and with that she developed truly great gymnastic skills. When he learned about her powers, he excitedly helped her incorporate them into her fighting skills. Her determination and intelligence made it easy for her to learn these skills quickly and she left his care when she turned eighteen, wanting to make her way in the world on her own. A year later, she had become a fairly well-known thief, dubbed Blackbird by the local papers.
