Let us start with sentences. Sentences are a group of words that express something in the world.

Example: The man ate a taco.

A sentence is composed of a subject, an object and a verb.

Subject- the focus of the sentance.

Object- the purpose of the subject.

Verb- action word.

Let us use the previous example: "The man" is the subject, "ate" is the verb, and "the taco." is the object.

All sentences must begin capitalized and the last letter must end with a " . " period.

Sentence after sentence next.

After a sentence is complete, proceed with the next sentence. The only grammatical thing to watch for is that you must place a space between the period of the first sentance, and the first letter of the second.

Example: The man ate a taco. He enjoyed the taco.

Next lesson: combining sentences.

For the majority of all sentences, to combine sentences remember this phrase.

F.A.N.B.O.Y.S

F=for
A=and
N=not
B=but
O=or
Y=yet
S=so

When these words appear in what looks like two complete sentences, put a comma " , " between the words.

Example: The man ate a taco, and he enjoyed it very much.

Apply the comma the same way as a period, and put one of F.A.N.B.O.Y.S. in front of the comma.

More advanced sentances use fancier words and comma use. We will cover that later. Right now I am covering thebasics

Dialouge is when people converse with each other. To use dialouge, place a comma, space, and open dialouge " " ". Then write the person litterally says. If you finish what the person says, end it with a period no space and close quote.

Example: The man took a bite out of the taco. He said, "That is tasty."

Should it be written where detail is in between the quotes, you put a comma on the unfinished quote. Then continue normally.

Example: The man took a bite out of a taco, "That," he said, "Is tasty."

Dialouge cont.

Always start dialouge with capitalization, and put a space after the close quote.

Just remember to open quote, comma, space, quote. To close quote, period, quote, space if that person is done talking. If not, Comma, quote, space.

Quote can be tricky, questions so far?
