Newbie here, with some questions.

So I looked at the rules like a good little boy, and I had a couple of questions.
I was originally thinking of creating a mime character, where the gestures he does creates effects, such as the 'mime wall' gesture creating an actual invisible wall that stops physical attempts to go through (inspired by this gif actually), though looking at the banned powers list, I wasn't sure if that was kinetic manipulation or a variation of it. So is that kind of thing banned?
Also, when I do create my character, how accurate does the profile have to be to history/lore?

Your power idea there sounds like Telekinetic Constructs, which is fine - as for history and lore, non-magic characters don't really have to worry about Lore & The history is mostly just how the meta-gene was discovered.
You don't need to get your powers from the meta-gene, though.
Most bio histories don't even mention the site's history.

Yeah as he said, the lore is a guideline for how the Meta-gene came in to being and how the in game universe got to where it is!
As long as you don't push yourself into that history or anything you'll be absolutely fine. The powers can also be described in a variety of ways so yeah your wall is just constructs, but they will only be as strong as your ability, so be sure to read the stat guide!
