Gryz

The fourth and only male child of the Orakian clan Chieftain, Gryz was never given any chance to be anything besides a knight of Motavia. It was tradition that the first  born male of every family on Motavia be offered to the Knights as a tribute for their protection against invading forces. This meant that from a cub Gryz was trained and conditioned for battle.

Being a knight was more than about being a warrior and fighting. The Knights of Motavia were celebrities, revered as fierce warriors as well as intellectuals. Knights were expected to become the best of their race, well mannered, educated, and humble. They were held to a higher standard. Gryz, being the son of the Orakian Chieftain, had much to live up to in order to bring great honor both to his family as well as his clan.
After years of training, Gryz became a full fledged Knight of Motavia just in time for the last great war. Invaders from the stars began raining down upon their planet unleashing a scourge upon their land. They called these things the Leeches, for they sucked the life out of all organic material they touched. The Leeches were powerful, touching your arm for a few seconds could degrade it to nothing but bone.

As a young and inexperienced Knight, Gryz was held back from the front lines as they tried to device a way to effectively combat the Leeches and reclaim land lost to the horrid creatures. In a desperate attempt to gain information on the Leeches, the Knights of Motavia launched an expedition into Leech territory. Against his families wishes, Gryz volunteered for what many considered was a suicide mission.

A small group of twelve Knights snuck into Leecher territory through an underground cave system, it was discovered that Leeches could not consume or deteriorate rock and steel. The cave systems lead them to ground zero, where they believed the Leeches began their assault on Motavia. The lands were dark and the sky even darker but what struck fear into the fearless twelve was a floating island where the leeches rained down.
Before they could return with this troubling information, they were assaulted by new creatures, unlike the leeches these beings were humanoid and possessed weapons which fired scorching light. The twelve tried to defend themselves but they were no match for their superior weapons. Gryz and two other managed to escape while the others were killed off. It was a grim day for the Knights as they realized they were seriously out classed by these warriors which they named the 'Dark Forces'.

The war raged for ten years as the Motavians slowly became extinct. They were pushed back to their final and most powerful stronghold building inside the side of a cliff. Gryz had grown to be one of the mightiest Knights and was revered as being the Slayer of Dark Forces. Many Knights looked up to Gryz and when the leader of the Knights fell in battle Gryz was elected as the new leader and the potential Hero of Motavia. The fate of the world and his people rested upon his shoulders.
The Dark forces floating island was in the horrizon, spilling out leeches and Dark Forces as they moved in to end the war and erradicate the last of the motavians. With only 150 knights remaining and militia forces gathered from the populace Gryz had to come up with a final battle strategy. He ordered for six giant catapults to be built out of remaining supplies and gathered eleven of his best Knights. They knew they had lost, but Gryz and the Knights of Motavia would not go out without taking their revenge.

Operation Vengeance was simple, catapult twelve knights onto the floating island and knock it out of the air. Gryz, along with the other 11 knights, successfully catapulted onto what floating island which they dubbed 'Profound Darkness'. With no clue as to where to go, they simply battled their way against the Dark Forces. The Knights fell one by one as they drew closer to the center of Profound Darkness. When they arrived, there were only three including Gryz. They had found the core of Profound Darkness, which was that of a beating hurt. Alarms all around them went off as it called for Dark Forces and Leeches to come defend it but it was to late. Tired, with little strength left, the three Knights of Motavia let out a thunderous roar causing the dark heart to skip a beat. The Knights took their weapons and began tearing the heart to shreds.

The heart gushed out black blood as it beat faster and faster trying to pump blood through its body. Dark Forces and Leeches reached the room just before a flash of light erupted, and without the Knights knowing it Profound Darkness had warped through space near another planet much like Motavia, Earth, which was its next target. Profound darkness had intelligence and out of fear of its death it teleported to its next target hoping to find salvation. The leeches that entered the room attached themselves to the heart trying to heal it with the organic matter they had extracted from Motavia while Dark Forces tried to kill the three remaining knights.

Profound darkness, however, made a grave mistake and had warped to close to Earths gravitational pull. Not strong enough to slow its decent, Profound Darkness fell into the atmosphere and was mostly burned up before smashing into the ocean. Unable to recover, Profound Darkness died, in the ocean.
The next thing Gryz remembered was waking up on the shore of a beach, his comrades having died with profound Darkness. He was a stranger on a new world called Earth, and found himself in the Land of the free, America.
