Just Another 'Quiet' Morning . . . (OPEN)
~Essmerelda~
New York City, New York was currently wide awake in the brisk morning . . . But then again, the 'city that never slept' always had abrupt wake up calls. On this particular Sunday morning, there was one, along with the many, faces that were wandering up and down the massively filed in streets. People wanted breakfast, some were shopping, catching movies or shows, and most of them simply wanted to get some coffee into their system. It was only 6 A.M after-all. The Starbucks wasn't too particularly over-crowded that morning--Well, not yet, considering the 'rush hour' was around 8. It was cozy and quiet for the few college students that chose to hang out there, drink a nice frappuccino, and study. There were students and elderly folk with nothing much else to do. It seemed uneventful--For a New York morning and it seemed quiet--For now.
Completely ruining the nearly serene silence the coffee shop had managed for a few hours, a massive, almost brute-like figure ducked through the door. Well, 'duck' wouldn’t necessarily be the right word . . . More like ‘plunged’, or ‘hauled’, or even ‘shoved’. In the dim lightning of the café, the brute of a woman seemed nearly alien-like and almost everyone glanced up to see what had caused such a stir In the peaceful atmosphere. “’Ey, I’m not much of a coffee girl, what other kind of shit you got here?” She demanded of the pretty terrified looking cashier. When she got no answer, she leaned against the wall. At 6”4, this woman literally had to duck to get into the door. Her long, white-blonde hair was currently fishtail braided and hanging down her back—Leaving that sharp face to do all the talking. Those fiery sapphire blue eyes seethed right into the young teenaged cashier’s core and made the girl turn and leave. “Bitch, I thought I ‘had it my way’. Whatever . . . “
It was no surprising thing to know that things were this way everywhere Essmerelda went. She WAS ‘good’ and people recognized her as a ‘good guy’, but it still didn’t keep the harsh looks or comments away. As a mutated, chemically tainted woman, she knew well that this was daily treatment—And she accepted it. Deciding against coffee, she simply started to slow her pace. Glancing around at the city she’d called home for so many years, she let loose a bit of a sigh. All these years, and she STILL didn’t know one part of the city by heart. She’d been locked up all her life and too worried about running away from her problems to notice the city’s beauty, or the hussle-and-bussle , or even the little things, like what Broadway shows were playing at the moment. She’d never seen a Broadway show. “Theater’s for pussies . . . “ She muttered to herself, kicking an empty beer can into the street and then deciding to just go back to her apartment.
Along the way, she took out her phone, ignored the shoving of other people around her, and began to scroll through her messages, just checking. Recently recruited into an actual GROUP of other people like her, she was . . . actually very eager to receive anything from their leader. All her life, she was never exposed to the wonders of WANTING to be a ‘superhero’ as a kid. And all of her adult life, she never realized that there were REAL heroes, villains, and other mutants like herself . . . Things were going to change hopefully—And for once in her miserable life, maybe for the better.
{OOC: How’s that for a first post? :3 Meh, tell me what I need to improve on and I’m very excited to start officially roleplaying with you all! ^^}

Re: Just Another 'Quiet' Morning . . . (OPEN)
Jason and Lilian were in the Starbuck, Essmerelda was going just a few minutes early. "So,", Lilian said as she took a sip of her coffee,"When was the last time we ever spend time together without you going hero?", Lilian asked without looking up from her coffee. "Hmm, that may have been somewhere between christmas break and new years.", Jason said as he took a sip of his own coffee. "Mhmm, and when are we going to talk about letting other superheroes to deal with most of this cities problem?", Lilian asked as she looked up at him with an annoyed stare. "That would be somewhere about never.", Jason said as he put down his cup. "I see, than I guess I'll have to persuade you somehow.", Lilian said with a smile. Jason saw her smile and laughed a bit, "Sometimes I think that you only bring up a important topic, just so you can say some things.", Jason said as he took a sip of his coffee again. Lilian laughs also, "Hey, at least I'm contrinuting to our relationship.", Lilian said as she took a sip when the room they were in got quiet and turn to investigate. There they both saw a very tall woman with very pale skin asking for something other than the coffee which frightens the cashier very much, "Uh, Jason, aren't you going to do something?", Lilian hinted Jason. "Hmm? Like what?", Jason asked as he continue to drink his coffee casually. "You know?", Lilian hinted again. Jason thoughted for moment, "Oh! That!", Jason said, "No, there is nothing wrong here.", Jason said as he put his cup down again. The woman at the cashier seem to be annoyed that the cashier was too afraid to talk, and she left. "Oh.", Lilian sighed in relief. Jason noticed her sigh, "What? Do you know who she is?", Jason asked. "Well no, she was big news when we were about 12 remember?", Lilian said. Jason thoughted hard for a moment, "No way. You don't mean that she is-", Jason began talking. "The Silver Hellfire.", Lilian finished. "Wow.", Jason said, "So what the problem with you and her?", Jason asked. Lilian almost facepalmed, "She was a well known criminal 5 years ago!", Lilian yelled in frustration which alerted everybody in the cafe. Jason just looked at her, "And that's a problem? Look Lilian, she could've do anything, she could've rob a bank and go to Japan for a CON or something, but she didn't. Personally I don't care what she do, it's her choice, and it's a decent choice too.", Jason said very deeply as he finish his coffee. Lilian was speechless, "A-are you sure about this?", Lilian asked. "Yeah, now lets go back to our hotel and watch TV or something.", Jason said as he got up and paid for their coffee and began walking home, which by chance is the same direction Essmerelda is walking in. "Wow, she's alot taller than I thought.", Lilian whispered. "Your point? Just because she's tall doesn't mean anything.", Jason said. Lilian continue to make comments about Essmerelda being a criminal and her physical appereance, while Jason keep telling her to let go of it.

Re: Just Another 'Quiet' Morning . . . (OPEN)
(An excellent first post, good work.)
New York City was his city. Even the bad places like El Barrio, as the residents called it. The handsome middle-aged Indian man, perhaps mid-forties to early-fifties, jumped off the bus he had taken to get to East Harlem. Seth Khan, or Nightkill as some knew him, blinked in the early Sunday morning light. Not real sunlight, of course. It was 6 AM in New York- it was the street lights brightening the overcast and gloomy day. "Salga del camino." a passing man grunted at him, bumping into him rudely. Nightkill only chuckled. "Disculpe, amigo." he replied casually, continuing to walk along.
New York was truly a great city. A place where all the world's cultures met and mixed, the embodiment of a melting pot. New York in itself was comparable to all of India and Iran as a melting pot, more diverse than either of those great places. Well, ancient Iran, Persia. Not so much anymore. Nightkill brushed some dust off his black suit as he walked into an apartment complex area, keeping his brown boiler hat on his head. Boiler hats just looked great, in his head. As his butler said, 'You look like a complete ass, but you look like a cultured ass.' Which was good enough for him.
Seth Khan looked around before seeing the woman who wanted to join his group, wandering the streets. He had noted her activities, and sent her a vague message by text. If she were interested in joining this group of supermen and women, she would meet at this location at this time. He sat down on a bench next to her, and extended a hand. "Pleasure to meet you." he said in a cultured Manhattan accent. "My name is Seth Khan, and I believe you wish to join my Harbingers?"

Ultimately, Essa didn't even notice the whispering couple of younger heroes that almost seemed to be following her. She was quite used to hearing whispering and having people give her weird looks--Nothing new. But, she did realize that there was a man, quite of stranger sorts, if even a man, sitting where she was.
As he extended a hand, she cocked an eyebrow rather accentedly on her skeptically, cautious face. "Name's Essmerelda--Call me Essa. Yeah, I heard 'bout your group. Sounds like something interesting compared to my shitty life." She shrugged a shoulder slightly, glancing at Lillian and Jason out of the corners of her eye. Standing up, she glanced, or rather, glared at his hand. Not a very social or peoples person, she had no real idea how to interact with others. She especially didn't respond well to greetings--particularly kind ones. Standing to her full height, she crossed both arms over her chest. "And if I join, what’re the benefits and what would I be assigned to do?"

Re: Just Another 'Quiet' Morning . . . (OPEN)
John and his best friend Kyle were hanging out in the big city that day. This was the first time John had done anything of the sorts since moving.John was actually glad to be doing this.He had been needing to clear his head.Brain eating mutant invading his house and trying to kill his father, seeing another superhero in his house as well. One he had met before at a bank robbery and hostage situation. He tried to stop thinking about that.He was here to relax his overstressed mind not to put more strain on it.
"Thanks for coming with me."John said to Kyle.He knew his friend already knew that he appreciated this. They had been friends for so long that sometimes it felt like they could read each other's minds.John knew this wasn't completely true though.Kyle had no idea about his secret activities.John was intent on keeping that way for as long as possible."You know you don't have to thank me right? This is just what any good friend would do."Kyle responded with a laugh."I suppose you have a point there old buddy, old pal, old friend."John said rather merrily.
Kyle suddenly tapped John on his shoulder and pointed at something.John looked in the direction of where he was pointing and instantly saw what it was he was trying to point out to him.A large and rather familiar looking woman was walking across the street not that far from them."Why are you pointing at her?"John asked Kyle. For some reason he didn't find the sight of her all that big a deal. Not compared to some of the things he'd been seeing recently.Kyle however seemed to find this of some importance."Don't you recognize her?"John was slightly unnerved by this question"Why would I find her famaliar?"Kyle looked at him with utter disbelief"That's the Silver Hellfire dude. She rather famous.I can't believe you don't recognize her."John replied completely nonplussed"You're the huge superhero fan not me.I don't know everything there is to know about every last one of them.Wait where are you going?"He had seen Kyle start following the woman.John started following too purely just to make sure his friend didn't get himself in serious trouble. They kept their distance just enough to avoid being noticed. After a while she stopped and met with a strange man."Can we go now?"John whispered to Kyle.He didn't want to be here

Re: Just Another 'Quiet' Morning . . . (OPEN)
Midway through her rather abrupt introduction to her soon-to-be leader and boss, Essa sharply turned to see the two young men. "Who the fuck are you two? And why is everyone suddenly stalking me. Is it like international Stalk An Albino Day? I mean SHIT!" She practically hissed as she glared down at the two boys. "Yeah, haha, woohoo, take a picture and kindly stop following me--and next time if you're GOING to stalk someone, make it less obvious, dumbassess."

Re: Just Another 'Quiet' Morning . . . (OPEN)
Jason and Lilian were still talking and passed Essmerelda and Nightkill without stopping, but overheard the word 'Harbingers'. "Did you just hear that?", Lilian whispered to Jason urgently. "Yeah.", Jason said seriously, "Okay, when we take the next turn you'll go back to the hotel, while I'll stay here and learn what they're up to.", Jason tell Lilian. "Fine, just come back in one piece okay?", Lilian tell Jason. "Hey, when have I ever let you down?", Jason said jokingly. "The time when you got the guy at the bank killed.", Lilian pointed out. "Hey, lets try hitting somewhere above the belt shall we?", Jason said bitterly as he try not to remember the incident. "Fine, but you get back, I'll get to do my 'I told you' song.", Lilian said as they turn around a corner as Jason stayed behind and Lilian continue to walk to the hotel. Jason behind the corner of the street he is in and listen closely to what Essmerelda and Nightkill are saying, but was disrupted when she found two teenagers that were following her, and he remembered John from the Mutant incident from the news and the night, "Dammit John, why can't you be normal?", Jason cursed under his breath as he continue to hide.

Re: Just Another 'Quiet' Morning . . . (OPEN)
(Zaboo if you want to go before me just say so.I'm willing to delete this so you can)
John and Kyle had been spotted by Essa. They had been caught following her. They knew they were in trouble. She was right. They didn't do a very good job keeping her from noticing. They hadn't been very nonconspicous. What they had heard of the conversation was suddenly wiped from their thought processes.Talk of harbingers and assignments they do, were not to be revealed.
"Sorry but we're fans of yours. We didn't mean to upset you."Kyle told her. This was mostly true.He at the very least was indeed a fan of superheros."We'll be going now."He stated as he started to walk away.John had just stood there looking back at her with no sign of shame for either following her or having been caught.John watched her for a couple seconds longer before turning away just to make sure neither her nor the man she was meeting with did something. As he turned away he noticed someone watching from behind a corner. He wondered who this person was.For some reason the guy looked familiar, but how he did not know.
They had made their way away from the conversation, but it remained on their minds, though they didn't know why."Who are the harbingers and what do they do?"John asked Kyle figuring he might know"I have no idea.Never heard of them.Who was that guy she was meeting?"John was surprised by this question. He couldn't believe his friend didn't know who that was."That's Seth Khan the C.E.O of Khan industries. He's one of the richest men in the world. He nearly won the nobel prize. How do you not know who he is?"Kyle shook his head."Guess I didn't recognize him.Wait isn't that the company your uncle works for?"John was aggravated by this question"Don't ever mention my uncle."They had walked away from the location of the meeting but had not gone very far.Without speaking a word of what they were going to do next they silently made their way back to listen in on the conversation this time completely hidden from anyone's view.
