The Essentials

Large bed? Check.

Loads of TV channels? Check.

Good food? Not check.

Out of all the things that would be in a lavish home like she was in right then, you would think that the one thing in existence in the house would be grand food. The kind that you could eat for hours on end if it was possible just because it was so good, but you couldn't because you'd get so full. Well, this house did not have that, at all; or any food, for that matter. She really should have tried to figure out when the last time it was the owner of this house had gone shopping for groceries; that way, she wouldn't have to do what she was thinking she'd have to do. Go out and rob some place for some actual, good food; maybe a pizza or something like that. Sure, it wasn't exactly the most nutritious of things, but it wasn't as if she cared about that anymore; her bouts in the evening with just regular people often was enough for her to stay fairly thin, not to mention the effect her powers had on her. They surely had to be taking some toll for the incredible ability they bestowed upon her. Mumbling and grumbling, Lacey moved away from the fridge, glaring at it vehemently as she did so; how dare it not have any food at all.

There was only one thing for the girl with shoulder-length black hair to do; get into her costume and go rob somewhere, anywhere, that might have food. Heck, maybe even a gas station. She smirked at that thought as she moved into the bedroom and walked into the large closet. It took only a few moments for her to completely change her attire; whereas before she had been wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans, she was now wearing completely black jeans and a black long-sleeved shirt. She also had on a dark cloak over this, with two guns strapped to her side; the goggles that had before been around her neck were now shifted upwards, covering her green eyes. She looked at the ninja garb for a moment or two before deciding it wasn't needed that night; heck, it might make the people in the store laugh at her instead of fear her. With all that said and done, it wasn't long before she sneaked out a nearby window; it would be far too conspicuous to just go out the front door.

She moved extremely quickly as well, which helped when it came to not being spotted. She was there one second and gone the next, leaving people little time to wonder about her further before she was gone and out of their thoughts again. It also wasn't long before she arrived at a rather small store, but one that she heard had excellent frozen pizzas; her thoughts momentarily went lopsided as she thought about it. Then she realized it; even had she not wanted to rob the place tonight and instead just buy the pizza, it would have been impossible. Mostly because the place she was staying at didn't have money just lying around; people tended to take that with them when they went on a long trip. She pushed thoughts of devouring the pizza out of her mind and ventured inside the store, pointing a gun in the direction of the nearest employee as she walked inside.

"Don't move. Just here for a pizza. Kinda hungry, y'know?" Dakka questioned as she moved towards the frozen foods isle. Before she did though, she shifted where she was aiming just a tad bit and pulled the trigger; she watched out of the corner of her eye as the man operating the cash register winced and cried out, at the same time the phone near him got a bullet lodged in it. "Oh, man up!" she cried out to him as she grabbed her pizza.

The Ranger had decided to return to his home town and see how the place fared with the 'Savior of Atlanta' gone out in Chicago. A slight smirk comes to his face when he notices how quiet it is, as if nothing is going wrong. To an untrained eye it looks like nothing has changed sense he left the big city, calm, quiet, and crime free with all the criminals locked up in prision. Yet of course it did not stay like that as a silent alarm was triggered by a local grochery store, Ranger only hearing it because the link he has back to the Phantom Lair. Quickly taking action he jumps down off the building, using his gloves to help slow the decend to the ground below. Once his feet touched the ground he takes off at full speed quickly ariving at said hrochery store and running in bow drawn and electric net arrow notched. He looks for the robber and blinks only slightly as he notices it is a young teenager, The Crimson Archer sighs "Look kid, why don't you put the gun on the ground, and actually pay for the Pizza; if you don't have the money put the pizza back too and go home." He muttered in his cold, dark, mysterious voice that he uses while in the guise of The Ranger.

"In a little bit Robin Hood, lemme just decide what to do, 'kay?" she said impetuously to the man as her hand clutched the pizza; that was, of course, a lie. She was not deciding to do anything, mostly because of the fact that she had no choice in the matter; though, she supposed she could have called for a pizza from a place that delivered them and threatened the delivery person into giving the pizza to her for free. It wouldn't have been that difficult, not when she could have just shoved a gun, or two, into their faces and forced them to do so; and who would believe the pizza delivery pizza anyway if they ever told their tale? Would they really believe a little girl had shoved two guns into their face and stolen the pizza? Probably not. She focused on the present though; she couldn't just leave the pizza because then she'd have nothing good to eat. She couldn't just walk out then because of the guy with a bow and arrow. She also couldn't pay for the pizza, as if she'd pay for something, because she had no money to do so.

Damned if she did, damned if she didn't; either way, the ending to her little robbery didn't look to be too bright. "Look, archer guy, I suggest you just pretend you never saw this. I'm fricking hungry, you know? I don't wanna eat some crap food, so stealing it is the only choice, especially since I don't have any money. Food on the streets is a bit hard to come by as well. So, yeah, like I said, ignore this and everything will be peachy." Dakka replied, ready at a moment's notice to hurl the pizza in his direction and then reach for her pistols; she was fast enough to do it, she was sure of that much.

Ranger keeps the arrow strained o the girl, everyone else in the store having already left knowing he would deal with this. No petty thief has gotten the best of him yet and he has takes down some supers too,he obviously is not someone to mess with ut the little girl intrigues him. Maybe the reason is simply because of what she said and he almost agrees but he can ot allow her to steal even if she does need the food. "You need it so bad, go live at an orphanage or return to your parents, maybe get a job." He muttered knowing she is going to settle for a fight and to make this quick and easy he releases the electric net arrow, watching a it goes flying out at her at this short of a distance even someone with his reactions would have trouble dodging. That and if she is just a normal pre-teen girl the net should be able to hold her until athourities arive to deal with her. Though with his luck the girl is some kind of super-human like he and has super-speed or something else of that sort. Yet, his speed is something he holds deer to his heart for from what he knows there is no one out there besides Entropus himself who I faster than he. The same goes to his skill with archery where only his 'mentor' and friend the Black Arrow exceeds him in skill. As soon as the arrow is fired a smirk comes to his lips and he turns invisible, unseen to all and no noise at all comes from his footsteps. While invisible he notches a tranquilizer arrow and waits to see what it is the robber will do.

Insensitive, that's what the guy was. Go live at an orphanage? Well, she would, except that sucked; plus it was kind of fun being a renegade, someone who lived via their own rules. In addition to that, who knew what her abilities really entailed? Speaking of which, her parents; she couldn't really return to them, not with them having probably been eradicated when her power had integrated itself into her. That was why she didn't want to go to an orphanage either; she had no idea what her power fully brought with it. She didn't know enough about it, and that worried her somewhat; she also would never do something as stupid as getting a job. She was twelve! It wasn't as if there were many jobs that would allow her to make much money, and even of the ones that did exist, there would surely be extensive background checks. No, it would be quite stupid to do any of the things he suggested, and before she could point out how stupidity, all these thoughts being processed faster than normal people thought, he released something; a net of some kind. He was fast, a lot faster than he had been expecting him to be; but she had two things on her side. For one thing, her enhanced speed, and for the other, her jacked up reaction time. Not to mention the tiny movements she had seen him making as he had prepared to fire the knot, as well as the vibrations it made as it passed through the air, said vibrations hitting her skin and allowing her to feel them thanks to her enhanced senses.

They were used all the time, her enhanced senses, but she was getting better control over them; she could turn them down to normal levels if needed, but it wasn't needed then. As soon as she realized he was going to release the net, she threw the pizza forward and quickly moved towards the side; with luck, the net would hit the pizza box and harmlessly fall to the ground, the pizza box its captive. Now then...where could he be? she asked herself, having noticed him missing after she had moved to the side. She concentrated, and concentrated hard; that was when she heard it. The telltale sound of a bow string being drawn, normally imperceptible in a situation like that; odd, though, that she didn't hear his footfalls at all, or see him, even with her sharp eyes. There was, obviously, only one choice when it came to knowing where the direction of a sound came from; fire a hail of bullets in the direction of that sound. It wasn't as if she could see him, after all. With the plan in mind, Dakka pulled out her pistols, made sure they were fully loaded fairly quickly, and then sprinted out from the shelf she had been hiding behind. She sprinted towards the aisle to the left, this Robin Hood's left, and the one that would take her closer to the store's exit.

With luck, he would still be facing the aisle that she had just been at the end of, and it would take him at least a little time to change his shot and fire at her before she fired back. Once she felt confident that she could get a shot in, she did, spraying bullets in the direction of Robin Hood. Where did most of the bullets go, however? Mostly towards where she thought she had heard the bow string being pulled from, which meant mainly his arms and hands; she did spray a bit lower however towards his feet. Despite how she had been stealing, she wasn't the type of person to outright try to kill someone; maim them perhaps, but someone getting their arms, hands, and legs shot at wasn't likely going to die if those were hit, especially if they were a super.

Ranger frowns as the arrow flies out and hits the pizza,opening and encasing it in the electrified net. So that only went to prove that she was super-human and if it didn't her hearing helped as well whicch he notes as she runs at his general direction. He fires off the tranquilizer arrow out at her quickly reloading another as he then sprints away, making no noise at all, to the door standing infront of it. Hopefully the tranque hit as she would have no clue where it was coming from until it was too late, or so he hoped at least. Once infront of the door he watches as the bullets go ramming into the spots where he was only moments before, and in his head he thanks god for the luck; his attention turns back to the girl who was coming for the door which again makes him fire off another tranquilizer arrow. Sure, only one of them is needed to more than likely immideatly knock her out for about five minutes but this way it is a garunteed knock out for at least one of the arrows has to hit. Well that's the way he sees it at least, because in such a short span of time and both arrows being notched in the same spot she wouldn't ,hopefuly, know where the second came from until it was in logged in her stomach releasing the serum it contained. If this did not work he certainly had a back up plan, this thief as young as she may be was not getting out of the store unless it was in handcuffs, taken away by a sqaud car.

((I assume he's just guessing that she has enhanced hearing, right? After all, there are other ways for her to tell he's there, albeit they'd be more difficult; for instance, she could feel the vibrations the arrow caused as it flew through the air, and she did do that in conjunction with hearing him knock the arrow. Oh, and if you feel I've overstepped Dakka's abilities or something, feel free to say so.))

So, she had missed, though that was to be expected; it would be really disappointing if the man was hit by her hail of bullets already. She did, however, hear his counterattack racing towards her, and as it got farther away from him, she saw it coming towards her; it wasn't as if he could keep invisibility on things not even remotely close to himself, after all. She again thanked her enhanced eyesight as she moved just a slight bit to the right, watching as it lodged itself in the wall behind her. She again didn't hear his footfalls as he moved, but she still knew, vaguely, where he was; the vibrations his footfalls were still causing reached her easily enough, as well as the vibrations that reached her just by him moving the other parts of his body. She pretended to not know where he was, she pretended to be confused as she cast glances about for him, momentarily pausing in her sprint for the door, which was where he was at. She feigned confusion as her search brought her closer to the other door, the one used for entering the store, and then that's when she heard it, just a few moments after she had feigned ignorance. She had barely even moved from her spot. The twang of another arrow leaving a bow came to reach her ears before the tranquilizer itself did; she still had her back to it. She put her mind to work immediately, using her immense brainpower to hypothosize where it was; it was a simple matter to yet again evade it.

Really, did he know what he was up against? It was almost impossible for bullets to hit her, let alone things like arrows, especially when she could hear them being shot from the bow and feel their vibrations coming before they hit. "Really ruined my night. You're gonna make a little girl go hungry ya know." she called out to the man; she could tell she was closer to the entrance than he was, due to the fact that his arrow had just come by the only other door in the store, or at least the sound had; it had come by the exit door. She also hadn't felt any more vibrations either, so that ruled out him having moved again. Truthfully though, he wasn't as bad as she was giving him credit for; she hadn't really had that much ease dodging his arrows. He was nearly as fast as her, or so she deduced from the fight so far; the only reason she had been getting the upper hand so far was due to her enhanced reaction time and her enhanced senses; if she didn't have one or the other she would have lost already. As it was, she wasn't sure she could win anyway

So...I'll just take my leave Dakka told herself, moving quickly as she flung the entrance door open, happy to see it opened into the store rather than out; she used it as cover between herself and the exit door as she tried to leave. Thankfully, people did not seem to be entering the store right then at all. Probably because they could see the fight going on through the windows.

((yea he's guessing 'cause he's fought someone with enhanced hearing...and your post doesn't work because her hearing wouldn't pick up him moving; it's part of his power he littearly makes no noise when he moves))

((Exactly, it wouldn't pick up him moving; I don't believe I ever said it did. The only things she's heard is the twang of his bow when he fired the arrow. She's been feeling the vibrations he makes when he moves.))
