Recruitment Process (Invite only)

The night was cool, for once, in this city of heat. The sewers misted out steam while the officers cautiously drive down the street. The rats squeak. The doors creek. And the clouds move as lazily as possible over the city. A small representation of Jack the Ripper walks down the sidewalk of the misty street. The fog slowly rolling in. The lights shining in this dim and dull city of apples. The only place where chaos can reign along side order. This place was home to Otac. This place was wonderful and joyous compared to the outside world. This place was a home for the homeless. This place was where Otac will begin his rule.

There were three hobos this night in the alleyway as they warmed up to the fire of a drumbarrel. They looked over the fire as it danced and licked the air around it. This fire was going on all night but wasn't started by the Hobos. This was the light that Otac used to draw in his new recruits. He stepped out of the shadows, his arms held out, asking the three a question of life and death. "Will you gentlemen want to join in a little business I like to call, 'Ruling the world'." The hobos just smiled and said. "We think the fire's enough." Otac wasn't wearing his mask this time. He was only wearing the black cowl that covered his face and the black fedora he wore during that bank robbery. "It wasn't a question." He said, snapping his fingers. His mental blasts surrounded them and stiffened them as Otac walked closer. "Come now, power and money is the ecstasy of today." He placed his hand on one of the hobos and took out a small cup. He poured down the liquid into each of their mouths, forcing them to swallow the poison. "Don't worry, if one of you lives you'll be able to join me in my quest for conquest." He said, smiling behind his cowl. He started hearing footsteps of someone but he didn't bother to hide. What will they do? Try to kill him? That would be problematic.

'A woman,' He thought as he watched the first Hobo fall. He took out a handgun with a silencer attached and aimed for the fallen hobo's head. He fired and the hobo died instantly, as to be expected with a shot to the head. He put the gun away and smiled under his cowl again. He looked at the woman, holding his arms out. "My, my, my. Why are you out here alone?" He asked as he approached her. He stopped a few feet away and put his arms down. He heard another thud and without hesitation, he spun around and pointed his pistol at the hobo. He fired, the hobo's head jolting for a moment and then relaxing. He turned around, expecting her to answer his question.

Otac felt a chill as her voice changed from regal to muse. For some reason he couldn't help but to press his hat down a bit out of habit. He walked a few steps closer to her then began to walk in circles of her. He was examining her this time. He was trying to find out who this person was and why she perked his interest. He stopped as he fully circled her and spoke with a calm voice "I am here to find more recruits. See I have this idea," The then the third one fell to the ground and he instinctively fired his handgun towards the Hobo's head. ",How disappointing. I have this idea about turning this city into my castle and trick the people into thinking there is a saint amongst them." He placed his hand on her cheek and said. "Would you like to help me recruit? I might stop myself from killing the ones that pass out from my poison. You'll have your help and I'll have my soldiers." He let go of her face and placed his hand back to his side, waiting for a response.

Otac was for once speechless. Here there was this lost woman walking down alleyways to find recruits for some sort of work and she would offer him this deal of working under her. He lifted his cowl up, revealing his face which was rare for anyone to see his face without living. He spoke like a business man "You offer me to work under you but you haven't said the word I was looking for." The buildings slowly shook, increasing over time. "I'll show you why you should consider making me a partner." Then, with one thought, the two buildings had holes in them that took up the entire wall. This was just a demonstration of what his power was. "I am not a thug-for-hire but a CEO looking for a partnership with another company. I also have an army of brainwashed recruits along with doctors whom experiment freely on them whom cause them to be brainwashed. So, partner?" He asked, holding out his hand.

Otac was starting to like this girl. He grinned wide as he shook her hand. The world seemed to go deaf as his mind slowly warped around the possibilities with this new partnership and the fact that he was now a hired man. He let go of her hand for a moment, an odd warmth staying there for the time being, and then spoke with a new voice. A voice that even shocked him. It sounded completely dark. "My dear, I will make sure this partnership benefits both sides but I must warn you. My goal is conquest and to have my name infamous among many others. I plan to take over New York City with Politics or with a gun." He looked down at her, his voice echoeing throughout the alleyway. "By the time I am finished with this city it will become a country under my rule." He placed his hat back on, the cowl falling around his face and hiding it once more. "Shall I show you what I have to offer? Shall we go to my base?"

Otac was greatfull that she had agreed to follow him, even though the request was absolutely creepy. He walked by her and said. "Follow me."

A few blocks later they arrived in front of a small house that was between two apartment buildings. The house was well kept, the grass green and the fence freshly painted. It was built with a combination of bricks and cement, making the house give a strange warm feeling as someone passes by. Otac opened the fence and left it open for Elena as he walked up to the doorway. He stopped in front of the door and knocked lightly. The door swung open as a man taller than Otac opened it. He wore a grey uniform with an Army rank on his shoulder and some badges obviously from some service. The man stiffened as he saw Otac, his arms straightening as he clicked his heels and soluted an Army solute.

"Mr. Otac" He said with an unexpected voice. "I did not expect you to return until the next morning." Otac nodded as he walked by, the military officer moving out of his way while still maintaining a stiffened pose. He moved back to block Elena as he was ordered to not let anyone but the soldiers and their leader in. "Calm down, Lieutenant, this one was invited over by me." Otac said as he looked over his shoulder. The Lieutenant nodded and stepped out of the way, bowing slightly as he said. "Welcome to the Brain." Otac smiled at the name. The Brain. An organ that commanded the limbs to move, the nerves to feel, and the emotions. The door way showed a short hallway with a door at the end that was locked on the outside. To the left of the hall were stairs to more rooms while to the right was an opening walkway where people could walk to and fro through the rooms. Otac walked through the opening walkway. He stopped as he found other soldiers sitting on the furniture, rifles settled to their side. They all stood up and soluted their leader. Otac nodded, acknowledging their "Welcome Home" greeting. "Follow me, we'll have a cup of tea and have a conversation."

He walked towards the kitchen door, which was located in the living room, and went to the table which was in the center of the kitchen. He sat down at one end as two soldiers who were already in the kitchen set down the cups and the already ready teapot with Jasmine tea. He placed his hand on the cup as the two soldiers served them tea and waited for a conversation starter.
