A few Questions

Hello! Sorry to be a bother, I just have a few questions that I just seem unable to answer on my own, try as I might! I'll not beat around the bush then;

1) NPCs; If I have understood correctly, NPCs are not for every main antagonist of a particular thread, but as a recurring character within a PC's storyline. (If I am wrong, please correct me.) So then, do NPCs and/or Minions take up one of the three character slots I have? Or does that only apply to PCs?

2) Quests; I am willing to admit that I have no idea what the difference between a quest and a normal RP thread is besides the extra EXP. WOuld anyone be willing to give a short explanation of a Quest/Arc? Or if there is an explanation already on some thread that I haven't seen yet, some direction to there would be very much appreciated! Smile

3) Advancements; There is a limit of eight advancements per character, no? Is that a collateral number? (Sorry if this is a silly question.) I just want to make sure that there are no sub-advancements you can make to upgrading weapons and the sort. I want to make sure I use these wisely!

I'm no mod but I can try to answer...

1- The character slots pertain only to player characters; NPCs and minions do not count toward this limit. Also, to elaberate, I think NPCs generally act as narrative devices and don't necessarily need to be tied to a PC.

2- From what I can tell, quests are basically regular RPs. However, they often have valuable rewards tied to them but they have a minimum word count to justify it; basically standard RPs for veterans (sort of). Arcs, meanwhile are segments of over-arching story that are meant to reshape the SHRPverse. Ie, Metaphobia is as widespread as it is because of an Arc that left NYC in ruins

3- The 8 advancement is absolute. You can add 1 new power to your character 8 times. This includes upgrades to tools and weapons. The only things to dodge this rule are RP mechanics an conventional weapons (ie, learning a martial art or buying a gun).

For your 2nd point:

Quests are storylines that shape your character, and can potentially shape other characters within SHRP - but not the whole entire board.

Quests are also things like major events... IE: Taking over a country, a city, or finding a long lost treasure that was deemed lost.

Ya know?

Also, there's no problem with asking questions!!!

Always good to ask them!
